  • Dave got a chance to check out the just announced 1-8 LPVO from Tract Optics. This 1-8 is a great addition to the LPVO market offering a lot of features and the high quality Schott HT glass the Toric Line is known for. Some highlights include the glass, turrets, simple bold reticle, tool-less knob reset, and tool-less battery compartment. Check it out in more detail and see it in use in the video, thanks for watching!

    That mount makes it so easy.

    Like you. I saw the advantage years ago. I started using a 1x4 Horus Vision w/ a Larue 1.93 mount ( to clear the PEQ) in 2008. It was then I saw the advantages a 1.93 gave with a more heads check weld. It was a decent 1x with a forgiven eye box, but the reticle brightness was weak for a 950.00 optic. At 4x the reticle was excellent for longer range. Optics have come a long way since then. Just like you, I ran into a little resistance from a few of the boys, but it wasn't long they were running them on their rigs. LOL. This happened anytime you have a new idea. When a buddy of mine designed the "KAC Skyscapper mount" people were laughing at it. The funny thing is some of the things that people laughed at is know the norm. Funny how that works. Never cared for the 1.1x or 1.5x and back then there were very few 1x options. It wasn't long after Trijicon came out with a couple of good options (2009ish). Thanks for the detailed review.

    I wondered what an LPVO was and now realize that I have 3-4 and have been using them for years 😂

    Seems a bit odd to me that they would configure it with 2nd focal plane reticle at this price point? Nonetheless, seems like a scope worth considering.
    As always, thanks for sharing.

    I think it may be a little late to get the "pre-order sale price" you quoted from... December of 2021, since you released this video in April of 2023. Have you been holding on to this video for almost a year and a half?

      This is a re-upload. Some things had to be taken down recently due to a (what turned out to be) a temporary policy change by RUclips.

      What are the advantages of sfo vs ffl? One guy told me it’s doesn’t matter, just to sight it in at the highest magnification. And it is good at the rest. For years I was told to go ffp! Now I noticed most of these lpvo are sfp. Why is that?

    • @MartinVeneroso
      @MartinVeneroso 4 месяца назад

      @@brianmadlock8385 The main thing is that sfp is less costly to manufacture than ffp. Additionally, because the reticle increases and decreases in size along with the magnification of an ffp optic, it can be hard to see at low magnifications, especially when the range between min and max magnification is great.

      You could buy a primary arms for 299. And nightforce is way more expensive and so is Leupold
