Well, we don’t have a release date yet, so it’s most likely not going to have a lot of competition
All pay to play games. Project L is free and will attract a lot of new players. Tekken 8 and MK1 are mostly FGC people.
Multiversus also attracted A LOT of people. Just couldn't maintain them. Lets see if this game manages that
Love the way the art style has shaped out. Ik it’s separate teams but I was kinda expecting you guys to take the Wild Rift characters and shove them into the game (Ik it sounds dumb when I say it but the models look quality enough for it to work.) I’M SO GLAD I WAS WRONG. This visual look gives this game its own unique identity compared to the other games set in Runeterra and it’s amazing how it all feels unique and cohesive at the same time.
It always has been the case, look at Legends of Runeterra. The only exception that comes to mind is TFT but remember it was supposed to be a temporary mode of LoL so that makes sense they didn"t use/design new models for this as compared to other games.
Art style is pretty much just Guilty Gear / DBFighterz.. lol
@@khazms not really, that is more anime or manga. I’d mostly compare it to marvel 3, more comic book. It’s different and unique from those things I’ve compared it to, and I love how it’s shaped up

To me it is so cool that Riot isn't pissing away the world of Runeterra. Unlike Blizzard with Azeroth, Riot is taking this amazing world and opening it up into TV shows, single player stories, a fighting game, an MMO, the card game, and lord knows what else they have in the works. Super cool Riot, mad respect.

Eh, not necessarily. One of the biggest things with fighting games is how everyone - no matter how good - has habits they fall into. Understanding those habits is often a good way to win.
Having a second player means there's a whole new person to keep track of their habits. I imagine it will be just as *effective, tbh.
* As long as you're duo-ing with a friend... but who would duo with a random anyways?
@@Rev_Boneman Too true. People don't consider the fact that is two minds playing against you. If you were to play solo, it wouldnt matter which characters you choose because you have natural habits of how you play, and your opponent can and will catch on. Not to mention how good two minds will be if you pick the Freestyle fuse.
@@Rev_Boneman Pfft you don't need to learn the opponents habits, just the options which are viable and you beat whatever they throw at you if you know which ones are good. It seems that there a lot of fighting game newbies here trying to theorize shit they don't know about.
Duo Play takes me back to the 4 Player Battles on Dead Or Alive 3 in my dorm room....this is gonna be awesome with even more capabilities!

I love that this game is going to have 2 player tag! Wish more fighting games had that mode. I feel like SF x Tekken and the Tekken Tag games did that mode well. I'd love to try this with my son, might be a good entry into fighting games for him.
Street Fighter x Tekken was amazing and I'm sad it got left behind and isn't backwards compatible.

just saying, the champs should have interactions with each other. like injustice 2 focus on, or tekken tag has. is something tiny that is REALLY aprecciated when we have, like noxian/demacia champs should not just say a random phrase to the foe or champs that know each other.
Tbf the 3 they're showing have nothing in common with each other. Would rather wait for the full roster for that.

I think voicelining is still in the procces.

@@Kfo221 this is the goal. Injustice 2 is full of it even for DLC characters it has. Like joker and sub zero or TMNT. Its so great.
Game looks nice but it's giving me vibes of other anime fighters where you gotta memorise long tag combos and don't get to take your turn for a long time when caught in one.

I really hope this 2v2 becomes the main stage for Evo. It would be interesting to see teams handle counters and mix ups, etc. Also hope we get to see more champions soon

im so hype for pL i hope it brings a massive resurgence or even just a smaller resurgence to the fighting game genre. i think the idea of team play seems interesting but i think im just gonna stick to 1v1/2v2 (this is gonna be confusing to talk about lol :3)

For anyone unaware. Mortal Kombat 9 had a multiplayer tag team game mode just like this one and it was Hella fun. Unfortunately, Netherealms never brought it back but now Riot is correcting that mistake. I'm actually so excited for this game.

I really love all of your games, started on Valorant and now I'm stuck enjoying and loving the content that you are giving players.
I am here to try and once again attempt to see if I can get any information on Riot possibly bringing servers to Africa but more specifically South Africa. I personally believe that there is an opportunity to show off some amazing hidden talent, I have met many individuals who enjoy the games that you guys bring to us. However often many struggle to genuinely love them due to us having to play on EU or Middle Eastern servers, especially for a tactical shooter like Valorant, it can be difficult for us to play any form of Ranked.
I feel like it would be great if we could just get some context as to why at this point in time, you may not be considering Africa to have the player base to be profitable.
I thank all of the people the work at Riot for creating games that I can really enjoy and who knows, maybe one day I will be able to work along side all of you!
Sadly not happening ive seen africans on the euw server in league and they play with 350 ping somtimes. Pretty sad but good people. Hope they decide to add a server there.

Happy to see how developers actually play their own game at high level skill, like these guys or Mortdog. And I mostly like 2v2 mode because me and my friend already have fun in DoubleUp TFT :)
Most of the developers are veterans and legends within the FGC (fighting game community). They even have the people who created & founded EVO (the biggest and most prolific fighting game tournament) AND are responsible for creating what is highly regarded as the best fighting game netcode.
They’re genuinely the best of the best, couldn’t be happier as a player.

Would love to see jarvan in the game. Not that it matters in the grand scheme of things other than it being a fun mental exercise for me and I like the champ and his lore but here’s my hypothetical on how I would love to see it work in game: the first issue I would imagine for him is his design due to his massive lance which could make him look somewhat awkward in game. My main thought on how this could work is by having him hold his weapon behind himself similar to the art from his evolved LoR card to compact his hit box into more natural look unlike how he holds it on his shoulder in league. I think this would make him look more prepared to strike with various slashes and a lunge and showcase his herculean strength (a weapon like that is probably pretty heavy, and seeing him wield it in one hand effortlessly is a respectable feat) I imagine he also has due to his ultimate in league. I also believe his demacian standard ability could integrate well into this game but something about it being attached to his lance as it is in league isn’t practical as he is literally tossing his weapon at his enemy (luckily he has another one in his back pocket in league) but a more realistic option is simply having him hold a flag as the game starts in his off hand that doubles as a spear so he can toss it and it land in the ground and can melee use it as a quick jab. In my head I see him having this flag held on his shoulder similar to how it is in league with the tip of the spear facing towards his opponent. In lore Xin Zhao trained jarvan to wield a spear before he learned to use dragonbane so it adds up why he would have a spear on hand as he should know how to use it. To me this design works very well with a commander and a king who leads in the front lines with a flag waving behind him and would look cool if it’s not too cluttered of a design. Additionally Xin Zhao has a flag attached to his spear so the concept isn’t too far fetched. As for how the flag would be used in game he would toss it similar to league and it lands. Since the main goal of this game is to be user friendly it could just target the opponent as jarvan tossing it in the air would be a major tell on when it is happening and fairly easy to block or dodge. This doesn’t seem an issue to me as the flag was never his source of damage in league but the combo with his lance which in a fighting game would apply pressure for jarvan as it’s up to him when he wants to dash to it, can provide him an escape for when he may be trapped against a wall, and act as a way to send his enemies airborne like in league. For him to get his flag back you could either force the jarvan player to pick it up wether with his combo or by standing near it or have his golden aegis spawn a flag in his hand like zeus similar to garens golden sword thing. For play style I notice this game seems to want the champs to play different from the others wether it’s yasuo’s air combos for ahri’s air control, it’s evident they function differently and preform better when played to there strengths and a gameplan. With jarvan I think his play style could be a easy/medium difficulty style he can swap between. I believe this fits his character well as the lance he uses has been stated to require a massive amount of skill to even use and couple that with the strength jarvan processes for simple heavy hitting combos much like Darius but when using his lance it becomes more difficult and requires more skill with less damage and more reliance on hitting combos. This fits him well as even in the game he is more challenging than someone like garen but not a difficult champ. In a fighting game he could go toe to toe with Darius in those close quarter rounds but would find more advantages utilizing a skilled approach against darius as he will likely be more effective since his entire champ is based around that aspect of the game and jarvan could mix it up acting as a hybrid champ which seems unique from what I’ve seen now. His ultimate could as also fit into the game as an ultimate attack, a simple stomp into the ground or an air attack slamming himself into the ground creating the walls around him, restricting the play area as it appears to be quite large from the gameplay I’ve seen so far and allowing him to use his simpler close combat skillset. I also think that a heavy emphasis in his character design and cementing him as a king which he is in current lore giving him a more mature design and prove that he is a formidable warrior which tbh in lore hasn’t been quite shown as in most situations he is either being saved (from Noxis), manipulated (by Leblanc), or straight up beaten by Sylas. I think a hate filled Jarvan is a compelling story and I want to feel through his design and his play style that he possesses Herculean strength, is vengeful, competent, kingly (through expensive and decorative armor) so that his character feels legendary in his own way. Finally jarvan’s champ in league and the most iconic part about him is that his abilities combo together which is the basis of fighting games so in my head that makes him a perfect candidate for the roaster. Either way garen is a more likely contender and I will be just fine playing him instead. This game looks great and I will and can’t wait to play it. Props to everyone who is contributing to the project and a special thanks to the people who read this as It’s late and I actually no idea if any of this makes sense to the reader.

what i liked: all the fresh stuff, fuses, tag team being an actual tag in etc.
what i didn't want but have to deal with: long combos that do around 40%~60% hp worth of dmg. i would much prefer the tekken system of every hit is fatal, so footsies rule.
what i do want: grab breaks, grab counters, hitting fallen enemies, gg axels time lag ability.
I love that you can choose to do 2v2 or not but this is a very cool idea
