@@JannelleOShaughnessy It looks so shiny and bouncy! I have bought a three-pack of olaplex, and saw good results after just one application. I’m hoping if I try clarifying first next time, my waves will be more defined than after the first time. I have found the silicone and polyquat-containing products I was using made my hair too flat, and I think they may have prevented some of the Olaplex to get into the hair strands.
I can't thank you enough for this recommendation. Olaplex should be paying you. But it's amazing! It restored my curl pattern in my bangs where I had heat damage. It hasn't fixed the curl in the parts I shove behind my ears, but I just tried this for the first time today and I am BLOWN AWAY! Again, thank you so much!
I had watched a few videos on this Olaplex 3 several times and ordered it on Amazon. It came this morning and although it wasn’t wash day I couldn’t wait to try it. I live in a rural area now with hard water and although I have a water softener it still has wreaked havoc on my curls, as well as the fact that I have a horrible hair dresser. I miss my old one who is 2 hours away from me now. But when this came early this morning I immediately started the treatment. OMG! What a difference. My curls are so light and bouncy. Everyone must try this stuff. It also helped to changed from my very very expensive curly hair products by Oribe and going to the less expensive Curlsmith and Not my Mother’s products. Now I need to go out and show them off! I’ve never had day one hair look so good.
THIS IS AMAZING!! I HAVE TO GET IT!!! My curls have been limp and won't hold their shape well, so I'm excited to try this treatment! Thank you for sharing, this is so helpful!
Hi Jannelle. Your videos and discovery of Olaplex 3 completely changed my outlook on my curls, which I straightened for years. Special request: Would you ever consider doing a tutorial on how you do your eyebrows? They are amazing in this video. Thanks for all you do!
I bleached my hair because I hated the Grey's coming in my dark brown hair. I wish I had seen this video before I made that mistake, alas how I ended up on this video. You are absolutely stunning and I love how you've embraced the going Grey process
This is really so helpful. I love watching your tutorials! Although I have "dealt" with my curls most of my life, I've done so begrudgingly...I've only just started to learn how to really care for and embrace my curls and I have you and other curl friends to thank...I've never tried this treatment but plan on doing so soon. Such gorgeous results!
I love that you’ve been with your curls! That’s rare to hear and makes me so happy! So much of the info wasn’t as readily accessible and there certainly weren’t as many hair products as there are now! It definitely helps! Thank you so much for the kind words and taking the time to comment!!!
Oh. My god. This is my first time learning about this product and after watching this, I NEED to buy this. Listening to you describe your hair problems with the under layer of your hair was so relatable for me. Ever since I started my curly hair journey, I have had a consistent problem with the underneath of my hair looking nothing like the rest of my head. The parts around my ears and on the under layer range from completely straight to wavy to somewhat curly. And even on the parts that are curly, the pattern is just off and I see a lot of hook shapes. I see that in other parts of my hair too but mostly underneath. Now, my hair is also very healthy and that’s why I’ve been so confused. I thought the healthier my hair was, the more curly it would be. But I’m slowly learning that it’s not always the case. I have very soft, shiny, thick hair that has barely any frizz and plenty of moisture. Even then, my curls are still not forming properly!! I think this product just may be my answer, or at least it will bring me closer. Thank you so much for posting this information!!
I had the best results from Olaplex when I gave up on it. I bought it for my gray strands that were not cooperating..followed directions and didn’t see much diff. THEN...said hell with it, I will just slap in on while in the shower, and see how it goes. (On very wet hair, left on for maybe 5min, rinsed, shampoo, condition, style) And the change to my curl pattern was amazing! I also don’t use a lot...maybe 2 quarter splats on 2 sections, raked in. I am on 6 uses of the bottle and have 1/4 to go. Thanks for sharing your tips.
Stanka Kordic your comment highlights why it is so important to experiment with products! One size all application and results are a serious myth! I’m so glad you were able to finally nail down a routine that worked for you!!!
Jannelle O'Shaughnessy Engels I can’t thank all you wavy/curly gals enough for all that you post! I have the added ‘silver- ing’ component (have no interest in coloring) that complicates everything, but am finally down on what my hair requires. One product line, and some added treatments in between (like this) as needed. So thanks for being so generous with what you have learned! You’re adorable too 😊
Wow, can't thank you enough for taking the time to explain this! My hair has been in a decline for a year or so. I kept adding moisture, but it would somehow feel too soft/squishy and yet had this layer of dry/brittle fuzz on the top. It just felt weak and lifeless overall and my curls were not able to clump very muc. I was so frustrated with trying so many products and methods only to find my hair getting fuzzier and droopier. So, I took your advice and read up on it a little and then I tried protein.... it made a huge difference! My fuzzy/brittle section on the top of my head is totally gone. It is nice and smooth and my curls are clumping and bouncing. I didn't have Olaplex, so I tried the Joico KPak treatment and it worked great. I will try Olaplex sometime, though. Thank you, Jannelle!! Love your channel!!
I've only recently found your channel but I wanted to say THANK YOU! you've given me so many little tips which have explained so many things I didn't understand about my hair (e.g. why when I twist it, it comes apart sometimes...) so thank you please keep making videos
disulfide bonds are not a protein (0:59) they are bonds between proteins such as keratin. They can connect a molecule of keratin to a molecule of keratin or they kan make a disulfidebond in 1 molecule of keratin (in itself).
Help!!! I love that I ran across this and you! I love how informative you are and friendly! I am in such bad shape with my hair and finally decided that I take care of it....but I have no clue how too. Any info you can offer I would love. And now I am going to binge all your video
You can buy olaplex in Sephora per @hif3licia, thanks to her that's where I got mine sweets. They also now have the Shampoo and Conditioner which I use every now and then if needed.
Wow I didn’t know the twist comes undone because you are twisting the opposite way the curl wants to go! Explains a lot. I never understood how people get the twists to stay in place!
Beautiful! I’ve been wanting to try Olaplex but haven’t ordered it and then recently found out Sally’s has a dupe. Have you tried the dupe to compare the two?
This summer has been especially rough on my curls, I live in AZ but spent two weeks in FL!! My curls looks frazzled like never before. I use great products but I do touch up my gray in the salon. My stylist suggested Olaplex No 3 this video is great! I’m hoping I’ll have as much success as you’ve had. She suggested putting it in a shower cap for an hour, what are your thoughts on that? 😬
your hair before olaplex looks just like mine does right now, not that it’s not cute, but just curls that seem like they should be tighter falling out and looking a little fuzzy. i gave in and straightened my hair a few times recently, even though it’s so fine and i knew it was a bad idea... and i’ve also pin curled my hair about 50+ times in the past year and a half for musical performances and styling which really is hard on my hair cuz it gets pulled tight, and i’ve also colored it twice. i’ve noticed my curls just don’t look as defined as they used to so i’m planning to get this and i really hope it works!!!
You have the most beautiful hair I’ve ever seen , and your eyes 🙌. Great video , I’m loving this product , I’m about to apply some on my hair as I watch this .
Your hair is gorgeous, nice and thick and full. My hair is so fine and I have no volume. I will try this just for the sake of helping my damaged hair. Not sure if I need protein or not. Have read all the data about finding that out but I'm still confused.
Wow your curls look beautiful!!!! Once again, love your energy!!! I don’t know what my protein balance is??? I never heard of that. lol. My curls are slightly looser than yours. Some curls are boticelli and some are wavy. 🤔
I am so happy I stumbled across your channel. I have wavy, fine, high porosity hair. I had no idea until I watched your vids. I have never been able to grow my hair longer than shoulder length due to damage and breakage (even without colouring). For years I had no idea why or what I was doing wrong. Now that I understand the structure of my hair better thanks to you I can now take steps to repair damage, moisturize and treat my hair. Thankyou!! P.s. what are your thoughts on jojoba oil which is said to mimic natural hair sebum? I recently bought a bottle with the intention of using it as a hair oil moisturising treatment. I think I will purchase the Olaplex too and a protein treatment I can use more often (do you have any recommendations?) As I have fine hair, can you recommend any products that will not weight it down too much? Have a great day, from Susanna in Australia X
Wow I am going to order Olaplex for sure! I’m not totally sure about my protein/moisture balance, but I just want my curls back. My hair is quite long but I don’t think that she stop my hair from curling. Sometimes I have ok days, but it just seems like it takes so much effort to get blah results. Where as when I was younger my hair was curly like yours. Maybe you could help me.
Hi, very well and thoroughly explained and demo'd as usual! Wondering if you have any tips on how to tell if one's hair likes protein or not. Kind of lost there.
Maureen Bouey thank you for the kind words as usual! If you google “does my hair need protein” there is a little blurb that pops up instructing on a wet hair test. I found that helpful. Also, if your hair seems to not be curling like normal that is a good sign it’s time for a protein boost!
I was just speaking about this on the curly group on fb ive been dyingggg to try Olaplex.. & im sold im buying it !!! Thanks for this video very informative
I love your videos! I started my curly hair journey recently. I have never used olaplex, but based on your results, I feel I should give it a try, but I'm afraid of breakage. My hair is generally resilient and I really want to get my curls back in action. I have great curls in the back, but less curl pattern in the front and around my face. Any advice you can give will be appreciated. Thank you!
What did you mean when you said make sure you know how your hair reacts to protein. I don’t think I ever put a protein in my hair. What exactly is a protein and what can happen? Thanks for your video! I love your hair!! Is this safe for color treated hair?
Aztec Girl if your hair doesn’t react well to protein it becomes stiff and brittle. Protein is in a lot of hair products. Over usage is a bad thing and then to need to reverse it - that’s a whole other topic.
I just received my very first order of Olaplex. After watching your video, I am beyond excited to see my results. Your hair is gorgeous! Now I also want to cut my hair because of your beautiful results. Thank you so much. PS - I’m not clear on why you mentioned protein sensitivity. Would that effect our results?
Olaplex has aloe in it which is essentially a protein. If you are aware of having protein sensitivity just be mindful of that and use a good moisture routine following using the product!!
Great video. I've watched a couple of your videos now. It seems like it should be so easy :) I've been trying curly girl method for about two months now. Although I've bounced between low and no poo for three years plus. I'm still not clear on the protein levels. I'd love some one on one info.
Wow! Amazing results! Does it have a strong smell? And can you smell it in your hair after you wash it out? I'm really intrigued and would like to try it, but I'm pretty sensitive to smells...
Hi Janelle, my first comment on your channel. Las Vegas ey? I was so sure you were Irish, lol. Anyways, just wanted to let you know I love your channel, you are so sweet. I'm definitely going to try olaplex. Btw, would you mind doing a video for treatments that works well with hair that is protein sensitive?
Absolutely amazing video. You really are beautiful inside and out. I have a question: Is it necessary to do the No.1 and No.2 at a salon? Or is No.3 enough to repair damaged curls?
Hi Jannelle .. Thank you for the review and advice 🤗. I'd just like to know if you can use no 3 without no. 0 as we are really struggling to find no. 0 in South Africa. Thank you so much 🤗 💕
Yes! No 3 came out years before 0 and was intended to be used on its own. 0 came a year or two ago to give a boost to the at home treatment but isn’t necessary!
@@JannelleOShaughnessy thank you so much for answering my question.. I sincerely appreciate your feedback. I love your channel so keep up the great work. Sending you much positive vibes all the way from South Africa 🤗 💕
Hi, I don't usually comment, but I really feel like I need to let you know that Olaplex contains Quaternium-91 and Polyquaternium-37 which are mineral oil based chemicals that act similar to silicones (which is why the cosmetic industry loves to use it in "silicone free" stuff to still have the silicone like effect). They are basically liquid plastics that build up on the hair and are super difficult to get out because they are positive ions that snuggle up to the negatively charged hair. So....it's also not great for the environment. I just thought I'd tell you in case you didn't know. Have a lovely day! Xx
You shared a post that mentioned it is best for fine, low porosity hair to deep condition before cleansing. How does that step work when using Olaplex? Can I use Olaplex first as recommended, rinse, deep condition, then cleanse and condition as normal? Or deep condition after cleansing when using Olaplex? Thanks Jannelle. You are fabulous. Love your hair. 😊
im late to the party here. your review is really helpful - though want to ask if this has a strong smell? I am very sensitive to smells so apprehensive to buy
This is such a FABULOUS video showcasing exactly what Number 3 can do for curly hair!
I am so happy you think so!!! I really love Olaplex 3! ❤️

I've learned so much through you, you were the one that starter educating me...are you still using this?
Wow!!!!!!!!So bouncy.....gotta get this stuff.....
Absolutely amazing video. You really are beautiful inside and out.
I have a question:
Is it necessary to do the No.1 and No.2 at a salon? Or is No.3 enough to repair damaged curls?
Just No 3 should be enough :)
Love it. I’m gonna start tomorrow my hair is so frizzy. Love you hair color can you tell me what color you have. Thank you
Hi, I don't usually comment, but I really feel like I need to let you know that Olaplex contains Quaternium-91 and Polyquaternium-37 which are mineral oil based chemicals that act similar to silicones (which is why the cosmetic industry loves to use it in "silicone free" stuff to still have the silicone like effect). They are basically liquid plastics that build up on the hair and are super difficult to get out because they are positive ions that snuggle up to the negatively charged hair. So....it's also not great for the environment. I just thought I'd tell you in case you didn't know. Have a lovely day! Xx
So in the long run this product is not good for the hair?
Shizzle, your curls are a fire!!! Love. Gonna have to try this stuff. You released this video a long time ago, is the Olaplex 3 still a Go To for you?
Very pretty hair 🤗 is your hair naturally curly
Wonderful tips! TY so much 🤓
You shared a post that mentioned it is best for fine, low porosity hair to deep condition before cleansing.
