I keep a box for my "maybes" that way if I miss the item or regret decluttering it I can get it out of the box and back in the mix. However, the next time I declutter I start by bagging up the maybe box without a second thought. It also helps get me in the swing and on a roll for the rest of the declutter.
I really enjoyed this new type of declutter you've added to your regular declutters!!! I can tell the amount of hard work and thought process you went through with each item and then back through the pile as a final clean sweep! Great job, Jess!!!! LOVED it!!! Keep on inspiring all of us to declutter our lives in every area to ensure we are satisfied with what we have (no matter how small the size may be!) and get rid of all the junk and "what ifs."
Awesome video, very inspiring! I've been slowly but surely getting to the point when I wanted to get rid of 75% of my closet-things that are great quality, in perfect condition, and/or expensive; things that I hang on to, but haven't worn or used in years. I was more then willing to give them away to someone who would use them, but I didn't want to just donate them. Your video served as a final push that I needed so much. I'm going to go through everything this weekend, and I will give it to my younger sister to take to a AA treatment/rehabilitation facility that she frequently speaks at and volunteers to coordinate events for. This way I know that all those things will not only be useful, but also will bring joy to many many people who are trying to get their life together. Why could I not think of this before?!?!?! Thank you so much for this video, and for the one that premised it-the one where you talked about your thought process when it comes to purging!
I would LOVE to see a video of all your hanging clothes from your closet. Your style is so nice & I think it would be neat to see what you kept from your declutter!
I really think you would enjoy clutter bug here on YT. She is in the middle of doing a 30 day declutter series where every day she has to declutter something new- junk drawer, purses, pantry etc. She’s has a bunch of cleaning and organizational videos as well
I love these types of videos. When moving I did a massive declutter of shoes and handbags. It was nice to get rid of realistically of things you never looked or wore. It was a nice feeling to keep the things I truly love and now I will wear.
I may have said this before but you are such an underrated RUclipsr and you're so fabulous and I love your tone and I love the way that you articulate things and review things and you're just fantastic and I just thought you might want to know.
The only thing I thought was missing from yesterday’s initial declutter philosophy video was a mention that charitable giving is often a good motivator. For many people it’s easier to let go of things knowing what you’re purging will help those in desperate need (or just those in need of a bargain) instead of remaining unused and cause of stress.
Michelle Kucera, I literally, just left a comment saying that this video was the final push I needed to purge, but I couldn't let go of things not knowing that they will be utilized. So I decided that I will donate to a specific organization that is close to my heart, and I know that all of the items will not only be used, but are much needed, and will bring joy to so many! You are 100% right, or at least, for me your comment is absolutely true, and exactly what I needed to hear a long time ago! I would have decluttered my life a long time ago should I have had this "revelation" (really, should be common sense-shame on me!) earlier.
Love your declutter videos! I’m still trying to find another RUclipsr to fill my declutter video fix until your next declutter video upload; it’s been hard to find anybody else as equally ruthless as you.
luvinamyst You should look into Allison Anderson's channel. She's doing great videos on decluttering. I think Jessica even mentioned her in her last video. :)
You know what? I'm in the mood now to go look at my shoes! thanks UPDATE I got rid of 5 pairs of old shoes that I would never wear anymore, and kept 18.
Love that you were able to declutter so much! But, I will continue giving all of my new/gently used items to a local Catholic charity near me. They're volunteer based and the money spent in thrift stores goes right back to the community. Plus, low-income families can get vouchers to pick out items they need for free. I'd rather see the items go towards someone who needs it than make a few bucks when I know the site is going to make a large profit compared to the money I get.
I had to buy a house much bigger then what I left. (There's not ANYTHING in my neighborhood to buy so we had to act fast and didnt have much of an option.) and only now after a year am I remotely able to start buying anything to actually fill the space. Ugh...
I love your declutter videos. I am in the process of losing weight so I need to get rid of a lot of clothes and these videos are inspiring me to get organized. I've already gotten rid of 4 huge tubs that I have given to charity and have more to go! Thanks for the inspiration! Love your (and Tyler's) channels!
The end og the video is very interesting: when er declutter for hours, get tired and get i to the groove we go :"what the hell..WHY do I keep this?! Let the madness end!!" And become brutal. That is the golden zone hahahah!
I never have good luck with Thred Up with things for me. I've bought stuff for my kids and had good luck 90% of the time. I think it helps when you're a size small/2-4, more things fit and look good on you.
Ruthless! I have an entire dresser filled with my costumes/spirit wear for school. HS math teacher - our school likes to dress up a lot! Currently doing Ugly Christmas Sweater Monday for 4 wks 🎅🏼🌲⛄️
I live for these! ***edit*** I wouldn't suggest storing your handbags on a hook like that. If they are leather then over time it can cause malformations on the strap where the hook is. Also, it can cause the bag to sag in the middle and create a slight v shape. I work at handbag store and we always suggest storing them in the dustbag (away from dust, bugs, etc)--stuffed to hold shape.
This came out at such a perfect time! I feel like decluttering is a mind set and I’ve never been in it. My husband and I just found out we are pregnant and I’m looking at this house like omg get rid of everything!!
I love thredup! I used your code before and got Lululemon leggings, Sperry rain boots, and a Rachel Roy dress for $65 total! Killer deal and everything was in really good shape. Thanks Jess!
I love these videos, Jessica!! You have inspired me to purge my closet, I have so many things that have been stored up for years that have just got to go! Love you!!
I love that you show purging all items, not just makeup (which I love those declutter videos). Would you be willing to show a declutter of house ware items?
I sent in a TON of stuff to Thread Up. A lot of it had tags. They told me it wasn’t “trendy enough” and paid me a measly $11.51. Then they turned around and made a fortune off my stuff which I can see because they email me after an item sells. Since they paid me up front I don’t make a penny even though they made a ton of money. I emailed a huge complaint and I will never use this company again. I could have made way more money having a garage sale like I usually do. Lesson learned.
I have gotten a ton of stuff for super cheap off of ThredUP, but I would never sell on the site. I would rather give my items to goodwill then make $2.00 on a $50 plus piece.
Carey C , Yes that’s what I’ve heard about this company they hardly pay anything for your stuff and then sell it and make money. Guess that’s how they keep things cheap.
The first two times I sent stuff, which was in their early days, I did well. Every time after that, it's been like your experience. New with tags, but nothing. Most consignment stores do about a 60/40, so I thought maybe I'd get about 30-40%, but it was more like 5-10%. New Sperrys with tags... $3. It's a racket when you sell stuff. I don't mind buying there, but more and more, I don't want to just on principle. Too many stories like yours!
Hey I know you said you might not vlog every declutter, but I really enjoy them.... and they motivate me a lot... so I really hope you continue with as much as possible xxxx great video xxx
Sitting watching you doing this it was like hanging with a friend going through their stuff. Then I got up and went and decluttered my closet! Thanks for the motivation. The stores mentioned below sound somewhat awful. I like to donate to thrift stores so that low income families can enjoy. All around smiles for this video thanks!
You are so brutal with your declutters!! Awesome to watch. Gets me motivated to do the same. I have been slowly but surely doing one little area at a time.
Wow, you are so cut throat with the de-cluttering. I am jealous of the cute shoes. I wear size 11 so I don't find so many that are cute. I collect purses though...I could never part with so many. You definitely inspired me to do some de-cluttering in my closet today. It's rainy and a perfect day to pull some stuff out to purge. I love that you are so down to earth, and real. Nice to see someone whose items are from normal places like Target and not all high end designer brands.
My husband can never tell me again I own too many shoes. Two tennis shoes, black & white low pump heels, brown cowboy "like" boots, then one black & on we brown boots, the rain boots. And a pair of flip flops. I love watching these
It’s so inspiring to watch you declutter. I always think that I need to wear something to the point where it is defective in some way before I can get rid of it. Do you ever think this way? Idk how to justify getting rid of things without them being worn out.
I'm definitely a shoe and bag addict (and just about everything else, too). The part of me that likes to organize enjoyed watching you declutter. Another part of me felt hoarder-y and was like, "Oh wow, I would have kept that!" Especially that peach-colored Marc Jacobs...I would have used some leather cleaner to get the blue stains off. I have an off-white Chanel that gets stains like that, and cleaning with a soft microfiber cloth and Meguiar's VLR (Vinyl Leather Rubber) does the trick. I do get rid of purses here and there, but I certainly keep more of them. That said, I've been trying harder to switch them out more frequently, rather than carry the same one for one or more months.
DO NOT SELL TO THREDUP THEY DON'T PAY OUT FAIRLY AND I ALSO CAUGHT THEM LYING ABOUT THE ORGINAL PRICE OF THE ITEMS. IT WAS A BUCKLE TANK TOP THEY SAID ORGNAILLY 58 AND IT WAS ONLY EVER 21.
Hi Jessica!! Love your declutter and organization videos!! Do you have a recent purse organization (hopefully for a bigger bag) or whats in your purse video?
This video was amazing! You are so cut throat, I love it! I have two daughters and between the three of us we for sure need to declutter. Thanks for the motivation.
Reiterating what others have said... Your endorsement makes it clear you haven't sold to them. 7.19$ for 19 items, 14 new with tags. They kept and sold everything. They sold one of the sweaters I sent them for almost 50$. Totally unethical.
I loved this so much! I always love your declutter videos but this was especially fun! Made me want to check out thredup and declutter at the same time! 😄
I absolutely LOVE Thred Up! I’ve gotten some really great Nike workout gear that I normally couldn’t afford brand new, plus some amazingly cute dresses. I love how they describe the condition and have measurements for everything since sizes can vary by brand. I’ve had better luck finding clothes on this app versus shopping at regular stores ❤️
I don’t allow myself to go over 15 shoes. I used to have over 50. A couple years ago I downsized because I hadn’t worn some of them or if I did it was maybe twice. I just decided on what my staples were then the ones I liked most for vacation or events. If I get a new pair I get rid of one!
Was anyone else like good girl when Jess kept the brown scarf and then was like oh no when she was gonna think about it?! Then she kept it in the end and I was like woo...good girl Jess LOL. Am I alone in this?! I doubt it. That was a cute scarf!!
I use to hate decluttering videos but since I started watching your decluttering videos Jessica I love love love them. I have been watching one of them of your every time I get a chance even if its just for five minutes lol I pause it and then come back. VERY CUTE CLOYHES from thread up gotta check it out.
Which nike shoes do you own? The two in your first declutter round (black and grey) looked super cute and I'll be in the market for some new ones soon!
Omg, i literally Laughed out loud when you said "i put on my uggs, wear my black leggings, and get my pumpkin spiced late ok!?!" Hahaha!!! So funny, i do the same except i don't like pumpkin, ill take Carmel please! 🤣😂🤣
Jessica, can you please please please share a bit about how you guys bought your house and the process of it? I know that doesn’t coincide with your channel, but I am so interested in how people are doing it, since we are in the saving stage for buying... I know you two are frugal and did your wedding on the cheap, so I’m curious how you bought your beautiful house (no numbers needed, just advice!) 😁
LOVE these videos! It gives me so much motivation to want to purge all my CRAP! Lol I have soooooo much! N can we sell on thred up? Like our new or like new stuff?
Jessica you did a really great job, girl you have will power, I hope it helps me cause we have ended up in the tiniest house and there's just no way I can keep all my stuff unless I make the love seat size living room the family closet we are all going to have to get ride of at least half our stuff, but thank God we finally were able to get a place :)
Have you done a house tour since you bought your home? You had mentioned you were going to do it once you got settled. Did I miss it? I love your channel!!
I am really so mesmerized by videos like this I could watch people get rid of their stuff for hours!
I keep a box for my "maybes" that way if I miss the item or regret decluttering it I can get it out of the box and back in the mix. However, the next time I declutter I start by bagging up the maybe box without a second thought. It also helps get me in the swing and on a roll for the rest of the declutter.
Nobody does a declutter like you Jess.... always love yours best.
I really enjoyed this new type of declutter you've added to your regular declutters!!! Jess's declutter videos are my comfort youtube videos!!! Ive watched all of these mutliple times but i love them!!!

YESSS Ive been in such a decluttering mood. Love your no nonsense attitude. It always inspires me. 💕💕💕

Michelle Kucera So true! That's how I got my mom, sister and husband to do a deep declutter. So many people need so much.
Highly highly recommend more melody
Check out Messy Minimalist
I started the KonMari journey about a month ago and I am about half way through. Jessica does a great job though. I love watching others purge!
Well this video gave me that last little push I needed to declutter my makeup. You've made my nieces very happy!
I love that you show your thinking process when decluttering. It really helps motivate. Great video!
You know what? I'm in the mood now to go look at my shoes! thanks
UPDATE I got rid of 5 pairs of old shoes that I would never wear anymore, and kept 18.

InstaBlaster...
I love how you decided on what you were keeping and what you were passing on.
I have not had time for much RUclips lately and boy I have MISSED YOU SO MUCH!!! Especially decluttering videos!
Love how decisive you are!
We keep our house decluttered by being too poor to buy anything
Me again I want this on a t-shirt
Erika Martinez me too!! Lol
I had to buy a house much bigger then what I left. (There's not ANYTHING in my neighborhood to buy so we had to act fast and didnt have much of an option.) and only now after a year am I remotely able to start buying anything to actually fill the space. Ugh...
Erika Martinez Same. I want a shirt that says, "Minimalist (n,); a) poor, b) lazy" 🤣
The wear on Frye boots is what makes them so good! Those were the only ones I was sad to see you get rid of!
I would love the big brown purse!! My father passed in 2000 and it reminds me of his gearshift cover.
I really wanted to see what the navy skirt looked like on you 😩
Morgan Uttrich maybe it didn't fit?
I love ThreadUp! I buy designer clothes often, and many still have the original tags.
I love your declutter videos. I am in the process of losing weight so I need to get rid of a lot of clothes and these videos are inspiring me to get organized. WHERE DID YOU GET THOSE GREEN HIKING BOOTS I NEED THEM
omg as a teacher myself love when u said "growth mindset" HAHAHAHA
Haha ditto except I'm a social worker
Maria Camilla Thiago It means focusing on areas in which someone can grow instead of focusing on weaknesses. Being positive, basically.
You can get the blue staining off leather purses by using Saddle Soap brand leather cleaner. I got mine at Wal-Mart.
MyraHart that is a really good tip, thanks!
thank you!!!! Off to get some and tackle that stain on my gorgeous purse!
I never have good luck with Thred Up with things for me. I've bought stuff for my kids and had good luck 90% of the time. I think it helps when you're a size small/2-4, more things fit and look good on you.

Love your commentary and reasons for keeping and discarding. Much more interesting.
I love these videos, Jessica!! You have inspired me to purge my closet, I have so many things that have been stored up for years that have just got to go!

Same. I made nothing off the stuff I sent in. They did though. I now use www.swap.com. Buying....not selling.

Hey I know you said you might not vlog every declutter, but I really enjoy them.... and they motivate me a lot... so I really hope you continue with as much as possible xxxx great video xxx
This video was honestly pretty fun to watch and urged me to clean out my closet! I love watching your videos, you always seem so sweet & genuine
Sitting watching you doing this it was like hanging with a friend going through their stuff. Then I got up and went and decluttered my closet! Thanks for the motivation. I really hate to see Jessica working with such a dishonest brand
DO NOT SELL TO THREDUP THEY DON'T PAY OUT FAIRLY AND I ALSO CAUGHT THEM LYING ABOUT THE ORGINAL PRICE OF THE ITEMS. IT WAS A BUCKLE TANK TOP THEY SAID ORGNAILLY 58 AND IT WAS ONLY EVER 21.
What a fun video! I'm currently working on my closet...it's so hard!
I love your declutter videos!!! They motivate and inspire me!
This has inspired me to finally reorganize and declutter my closet. (I've been telling myself I'll do it soon for months)
Yassssss 🙌🙌🙌 declutter video!!!! My all time favorite from your channel!
Hi Jessica!! Love your declutter and organization videos!! Do you have a recent purse organization (hopefully for a bigger bag) or whats in your purse video?
Aaaahhhhh I love all your shoes!!
Nooo, I had my eyes on the red "heels" from the beggining of the shoes part! And they look so neew!
Hi Jessica! you should do a ca-lab with Do It On A Dime to remodel your closet !
Thank you so much for introducing me to ThredUp Jessica! I love it so much and have found some of my favorite pieces of clothing! 💜
Video idea! It will great if you could make an outfit ideas for work. What you wear for work? I just thought about it while looking at your shoes
Hi Jessica I'm so glad you filmed this !! Awesome beautiful job. I've learned even more! Love ur channel and Tyler's
Oh my gosh, I love this! So motivational! Please keep doing these!
Ahh that kate spade wallet was so cute! I love anything kate spade haha
This video was amazing! You are so cut throat, I love it! I have two daughters and between the three of us we for sure need to declutter. Thanks for the motivation.
I am really glad you made another declutter video! Your video on KonMari and declutter mind tricks really inspired. Thank you! :)
I'll take your Too Faced x Quay glasses! I thought those were so cute! 🙈🙈🙈 I wish I had your decluttering strength.
Reiterating what others have said... Your endorsement makes it clear you haven't sold to them. 7.19$ for 19 items, 14 new with tags. They kept and sold everything. They sold one of the sweaters I sent them for almost 50$. Totally unethical.
Jessica Mabrey wow they're making a killing.
I loved this so much! I always love your declutter videos but this was especially fun! Made me want to check out thredup and declutter at the same time! 😄
I wish I could declutter like you do, just make a decision and move on! I go back and forth and end up keeping too much! Good job!
That madewell dress is sooo cute!! ❤️❤️
I love the Ugg boots forget what everybody else thinks I think they're cute also loved this video got me in the mood to declutter thanks
You're such an inspiration! I love your channel.
I know your channel isn't about your teaching, but I would love to see a classroom declutter. Maybe in May???
Pina Grimaldi I agree! Please do a classroom declutter! I need it.
Proud of your declutter--you did a great job!!!
What do you do with your get rid of stuff? Do you have a Depop shop? A few of those things I’d like to buy!!
Loved this video! It inspired me to go through my stuff today!
Wow you go girl!! I couldn't part with all of that. Whenever I have something name brand it's staying in my closet 5ever!😂
You've inspired me to go through and get rid of some of my shoes. What do you do with the ones your letting go? Donate them/ throw them out?
Declutter starts at 5:19 👍🏻
I don’t allow myself to go over 15 shoes.
YES... declutter time with Jess. I love it!!!
Some hugs from germany!!!
Great video. So satisfying to watch this - you did a great job!
I use to hate decluttering videos but since I started watching your decluttering videos Jessica I love love love them. I have been watching one of them of your every time I get a chance even if its just for five minutes lol I pause it and then come back. VERY CUTE CLOYHES from thread up gotta check it out.
Girl... You just got me into a decluttering mood...
P.S. Where are the new black booties from??!!
I love how cut-throat you get with some stuff! I feel motivated to go through all my purses and wallets but I get so attached!
LOVE these videos! It gives me so much motivation to want to purge all my CRAP! Lol I have soooooo much! N can we sell on thred up? Like our new or like new stuff?
Do you ever take your decluttered items to used clothing shops? Or to a local school that may have a “kids closet” for those in need ?
I’m feeling inspired to do the same, Jessica! Thanks for sharing!
This was the most interesting declutter ive watched
Jessica you did a really great job, girl you have will power, I hope it helps me cause we have ended up in the tiniest house and there's just no way I can keep all my stuff unless I make the love seat size living room the family closet we are all going to have to get ride of at least half our stuff, but thank God we finally were able to get a place :)
This was so satisfying to watch!!
Have you done a house tour since you bought your home? You had mentioned you were going to do it once you got settled. Did I miss it? I love your channel!!
