@ROForeverMan it's the Presentation or View of the game. That's why it's called First person-Shooter. That's the main Genre of the game. You know Mario isn't even a Shooter or First person game
Of the games actually released back then I played and beat Half-Life 2, Doom 3, Far Cry, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, Shadow Ops: Red Mercury, Syberia 2, Counter-Strike: Source (well, can't say I BEAT it lol), Counter-Strike: Condition Zero, Jets 'n' Guns, Flatout, Sacred, probably some others which didn't show up in my search. And some 2004 games I beat in their later remastered/bundled forms - Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher's bay (included in Dark Athena), Fable: The Lost Chapters, Painkiller (with 2005's Black Edition). Also the Windows version of Second Sight which released in 2005. Half-Life 2, Butcher's Bay, Painkiller, and CS:Source made it a fantastic year for FPS gaming. I'm sure Halo 2 as well, but I haven't gotten around to the Master Chief Collection in my backlog yet.
Metal Gear Acid, Ace Combat 5, SMT: Nocturne, Prince of Persia WW, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Second Sight, though some of my favorites on the ps2 came before and after 2004. Like Ace Combat Zero ( 2006 ) and Midnight Club 2 ( 2003 )
I have Metroid: Zero Mission, Pokémon LeafGreen, Mario vs. Donkey Kong, Dragon Quest VIII, Sly 2: Band of Thieves, The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap, The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventure, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, Crash Twinsanity, Super Mario 64 DS, Pikmin 2 (the best game), and Rollercoaster Tycoon 3. I also do technically have Katamari Damacy, but not the original. I have Reroll on the Switch. And I remember renting out Spider-Man 2.
I've played: Metal Gear Acid, Fire Emblem The Sacred Stones, Pokemon Fire Red, The Suffering, Silent Hill 4, NFSU 2, TLOZ The Minish Cap, Evil Genius, Prince of Persia The Warrior Within, GTA San Andreas, TLOZ Four Swords, Doom 3, THU 2 (GBA Version), KH Chain of Memories, Super Mario 64 DS, HL 2, UT 2004, Far Cry, WH40000 Dawn of War, Counter Strike Source, Painkiller, MOH Pacific Assault, Flatout, Hitman, Chris Sawyer's Locomotion, Full Spectrum Warrior, The Sims 2, Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban. PS2 was on its best year probably, lots of all time classics there. PC was OK but not as classic as PS2, although Half Life 2 is enough to talk about a big year for PC. RTS were getting kinda stale already and shooters were starting a second golden era. It's funny to see how 20 years later most genres are still the same, games are just more cluttered with side stuff compared to the ones back then. RTS being replaced by MOBA, and 3D platformers being heralded by Nintendo only (with the occasional Astrobot) are probably the biggest changes.
2004, um dos melhores anos na história dos games (MUITO jogo bom no memo ano). 2004, one of the best years in gaming history (LOTS of good games in the same year).
Alrighty, Preview score was 58, let's see how I did. 1. Ah. I completely forgot _Syphon Filter_ had games beyond the PS1. 😅 2. Got 3. Got 4. Never played _Metroid_ at all, so differentiating the _Prime_ series ain't happening. 🤣 5. Got 6. Got 7. GBA, Fire Emblem, should have guessed. Darn. 8. Got 9. Oh that's right, there were two GBA _Metroids._ Oh well. 10. Okay, I said "Grass/Green" for this, so that's lost. 😆 11. Got 12. Oh yeah, forgot _Killzone_ was a thing. Never played it, so go figure. 13. _Xenosaga?_ As in _Xenogears?_ Either way, I had no clue. 14. Did play _Jak 2_ or _3,_ so nope. 15. Right series, no number. 16. Got 17. Another series I completely forgot exists because JRPGs are a void in my head. 🤣 18. Got 19. Got 20. Got 21. Got 22. Got 23. Got 24. Got 25. Got 26. Darn it. Huh, I always associate the blue HUDs with _Budokai Tenkaichi._ 27. I didn't even remember _KOTOR_ getting a sequel. 28. Got 29. Again, sport is a blindside. I remember _Pro Evolution,_ mind. 30. Got 31. Got 32. How did I forget Tiger Woods being plastered onto every PGA game in this era? 😂 33. Got 34. Got 35. Got 36. Right series, no number. 37. Darn it! Got two games confused. 38. Got 39. That wasn't in the preview. The one I saw was a pre-rendered adventure game. 40. Got 41. Never played _Onimusha,_ but I figured a sequel. 42. I was just short of the year on this one. 🤣 43. Oh wow, I though _Butcher Bay_ was 2006. 44. Got 45. Yeah, this one completely threw me for a loop. 😆 46. Got 47. No recollection of that series whatsoever. 48. Got 49. Got 50. Right series, no number. 51. Got 52. Got 53. I said _"Aggressive Inline"_ the man is clearly on a *skateboard.* 😅 Ugh. 54. Got 55. Got 56. Got 57. Got 58. I got _Samurai_ and _Dynasty_ mixed up. 63. Got 64. Got, surprisingly 🤣 65. Nah, never heard of this one. 66. Got 67. Got 68. Forgot _Viewtiful Joe_ had a sequel. 69. I didn't have _"Bloodlines"_ in the titles, so that's a miss. 84. Got 85. Right series, no number. 86. Got 87. Oh, _Battlefield._ Forgot that went back to historical wars. 88. Nah, never heard of that one. 89. Got 90. Shoot, I'd thought of _Pacific Assault_ earlier. 😆 91. Never heard of this one. 92. Got 93. Never heard of this one, either. 94. Got 95. Almost had this! I missing "Soccer". 96. Got 97. Darn it, missed "LIVE". 98. Never came across this one before. 99. Got 100. Got Sweet! I'm kicking my myself on a few of these, but otherwise I'm happy with this. Now, on to 2014!
Yeah, there were some very minor differences between the preview and the final cut. I however, was very surprised you didn't get BURNOUT 3: Takedown! Still - a *Very* impressive score, so well done!
@@GaryRetroGamer Thank you again, sir. So am I! I'm still kicking myself! 😆 They were everywhere in the gaming magazines, so it's not like they were hard to see back in the day. Time makes fools of us all.
Fable Halo 2 Killzone Jak 3 The suffering Splinter cell pandora tomorrow Sly 2 band of thieves Prince of Persia warrior within GTA San andreas X-men legends Spider man 2 Ratchet and clank 2 up your arsenal Half life 2 Hitman 2 contracts Harry Potter and the prisoner of azkaban
There are so many great games! I've played a lot of them and still have some
Greatest year in gaming imo.
Half-Life 2, Halo 2, Doom 3. I still can feel it like it was yesterday. FPS at best. Great 2004 List Gary ❤❤❤
Half Life is platformer, not fps.
@ROForeverMan I don't remember Half-Life have a same gameplay like Mario. So how can you say it's a Platformer?
@bok3rnes425 Sure it does. You keep jumping on platforms above green goo and crawl through pipes. You barely meet a monster once per hour.
@ROForeverMan it's the Presentation or View of the game. That's why it's called First person-Shooter. That's the main Genre of the game. You know Mario isn't even a Shooter or First person game
@bok3rnes425 You barely shoot anyone, so is not a shooter. Is a fpp: first person platformer.
1998 , 2004 , 2007 , 2010 great years for video games
Of the games actually released back then I played and beat Half-Life 2, Doom 3, Far Cry, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, Shadow Ops: Red Mercury, Syberia 2, Counter-Strike: Source (well, can't say I BEAT it lol), Counter-Strike: Condition Zero, Jets 'n' Guns, Flatout, Sacred, probably some others which didn't show up in my search.

Doom 3's graphics are insane for a 2004 game. The steam key is evil genius. Thank you !!
Thanks for letting us know what the key was! I hope you enjoy the game!
I remember how gamespot scored a 7
woah 04 was absolutely stacked. i remember getting my first DS this year too.
I was 18 that year... good time for games and for life in general.

Awesome list! I think I've played every single game on the list except FIFA 😅.
Many great games in 2004, but my all time favourite is Half Life 2
