I could actually see the slightly darkened high pressure systems that are affecting the path and essentially steering the hurricane. Thank you. I will share Tropical Tidbits with my friends.

Your prayers and concern are appreciated! Everywhere has some sort of natural disaster to potentially face and none of them are easy to deal with. Quakes give no warning, tornadoes, usually very, very little -- Hurricanes generally give you a lot of warning, but can change their tracks, increase greatly in strength or as Dorian is doing, remain stalled in one area for hours or even days.
My concerns are more for all the people in the Bahama's --- the islands are fairly low lying and their infrastructure can be very fragile. As well, so much of their economy depends directly or indirectly on tourism and it can take a long time to recover from a bad hurricane, let alone a monster like Dorian. At least here in central Florida, we have some buffer from the worst of hurricanes, generally -- Though two years ago, Irma did a fair amount of damage to our area.

@@bilbobaggins4710 The good thing is Freeport s well built to withstand hurricanes, and there are shelter scattered across the island. I'm hoping that will limit the loss of life on the island. I don't know how well the cruise ship port will stand up to such a massive sea surge, and it will certainly require dredging to restore the depth needed by the deep draft cruise ships. Tourism, largely from cruise ships, is a major contributor to the economy of the Bahamas. I fear it will be a long time before that's restored.

Thank you for explaining and you did a much better job than the weather channel. The weather channel goes on and on and it’s like they just want to talk about anything to keep you hanging out with them for hours

The only good thing that I’ve heard just now from the national hurricane center is that the storm should pick up motion again late Monday night and lose strength Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. It will still be cat 3-4 as it reaches northern Florida. All I’m saying is that a 10 mile shift west will impact the entire east coast of Florida with cat 2-3 type conditions

Cowen: "concerns," Network Ninnies: "fears." Cowen: "moving," Network Ninnies: "marching." Cowen: "higher winds," Network Ninnies: "ravaging winds." Cowen: "signs are that it is not inclining..." Network Ninnies: "there is still a chance of catastrophic..." You, sir, are a breath of fresh air amongst the reeking effluvium of network "extreme" weather coverage.

I’m glad we were spared but I feel terrible for the Bahamas 😔

This is definitely one for the books...I live in New Providence, thanking God it didnt hit us. We would be devastated in no time. Even the outer bands are incredible as severe thunderstorms keep popping up. I cannot wait for this horrific storm to just leave. My prayers are with my family in Abaco and Grand Bahama, and for all presently and soon to be affected. Get out now!

Very small probability. Like super small. The pressure in the Gulf of Mexico is pushing it away. They can do crazy things...but it'll be pretty hard to push through that pressure.

Thanks for the update! Prayers for all in the Bahamas!! My heart is so heavy for them. Evacuations started here today in North Carolina - Dare and Carteret Counties. We live in Carteret County. You are so right about the water!! Water kills. Around here it doesn't take too much rain to flood. Plus we are still recovering from Florence. UGH! Watching this storm very closely.
