I have also heard several opinions, that the mix is not what it should be. I agree with you, in the sense that this was definitely the intention of the band.

Tuomas is a master composer! His musical scores evoke deep emotions, and his lyrics stimulate and challenge the mind. The songs are performed to perfection by this incredibly talented group. Nightwish is upper tier, without a doubt.

Nightwish is in a class of it's own. So it is not just the best music. It is beyond comparison. A lot of their songs should be shown at the start of each semester at universities. As an awareness process. "Who am I and what am I doing here?".
I really appreciate that you recognize the genius of Tuomas. A lot of reactors think the mix is a mistake, well, the man is way to smart to make this kind of mistakes. So, thank you!
Personal opinion, if the vocal is higher in the mix then it overpowers the composition. I like the mix. I can hear Floor just fine.

Hi ! It´s time to new Nightwish ! As you said there is nothing wrong with Floor´s voice in here. Tuomas creates all of these 95%, and I´m sure he thinks Floor´s voice as
an instrument in between the others. For me this is what I want to hear. When they, if they, as a band ever again will be out there on stages, Floor´s voice then will be
much more powerful, in front of all, gently though.

You got it right...Tuomas does music the way he sees it. There are no mistakes, it is always just mainly what he wants. He listens to the band members but at the end of the day, it is his inspiration. His music will be enjoyed after we all has passed. It is funny as many wants NW to be mixed like a pop song.
Often the best songs don't open up at first listen, and you have to listen to them several times. And this song really sounds better after several listens. I have listened to the song without watching the music video, which helps to focus on the song itself. I definitely recommend this. Thank you Tuomas and all of Nightwish for this true masterpiece!

I would think that by now we know Nightwish! We love this band like no other! So, we should not be surprised, but I for one am absolutely floored, mind blown 🤯 again! There has never been, there will never be another Tuomas Holopainen, Nightwish with Floor!
This is another one from Tuomas that you have to listen to multiple times to get the full effect. At least I did and I think you are right. This video is exactly as Tuomas wanted it to be. The man is definitely a genius and I have to say that I was never into metal music of any kind and then about 6 years ago I stumbled on Nightwish and was immediately hooked and Floor had a great deal to do with that. But as I realized the genius behind the music I became even more of a fan. I listen to something from Nightwish every single day and I can't say that about any other musical group, even those that were, and still are favorites of mine.

I second you, Highly! The first time I've listened to this track, me too was under the assumption that the mix was off. But Kai, the drummer, said that this was intentional, in the chorus Floor's voice was ment to be drowned into the choir parts, and that's excactly what we hear. As always, Great reaction my friend.
People complaining about the mix really proves what a high standard Nightwish brings. Plenty of worldwide hits have flat, garbage mixing and mastering these days and no one notices, but if a Nightwish song is a little 'off' its a 'bad'' song according to Nightwish fans.
I think its still got great space in it, its just not in Floors vocals. Its catchy, emotional and epic, everything Nightwish should be.

The first time I heard this track I too thought Floors voice was too low in the mix. But each time I listen to it my 68 year old hearing system (my ears) seem to pick out her voice more clearly. Tuomas is indeed a genius.

100% agree...Tuomas has Floor's voice mixed exactly the way he wants it...her voice is mixed to be more of a contrasting instrument to all of the others. I am sure if played in a live setting her vocals would be more clear and discerning, but for this MV it is what he wanted....
I was amazed and loved it at first. However, it has grown to epic status. Many fans feel it is a shame to not have Floor out front with her amazing voice. It was planned as a part of the concept. I am sure there will be many songs with Floor out front in the mix.

The title of album Yesterwynde is actually a non exiting word that Troy came up with.
Yesterwynde is the opening track on new album, i belive its only like a intro, its alittle over 2 min long, #2 on album then is a almost 10 min song, thats proberly another epic!! #3 is where i think they bring in a heavy track, and this Perfume of the timeless is #5.. so i think its gonna be a good mix of heavy songs, Epics, and maybe a full balled..
Perfume of the timeless, well its almonst a ghost song right, telling all these ancestors is perfume around in a timeless world, being around you still, cant wait for rest of album!!

This is SO well composed and thought about.
The owl's head spinning ANTI clockwise, going back in time. There are hundreds of symbols in this clip. The sea being the source of everything alive today, putting back human in the sea as their habitat (freedivers) The thousands of butterflies representing our ancestors, the beautiful lizard who dives in the water is also coming back several times, per example when Floor dives from the tree It's so tiny that you hardly notice it. The humpback wale skeleton with the diver and than the live humpback wales and sperm wales. It all refers to our ancestors and evolution. I can't wait to hear this song live. Wouldn't it be great to see them live for one time with the London Philharmonic Orchestra instead of a recording of the orchestra? Who knows....1 day

Agreed brother! Folks are getting bent outta shape of the mix. I thought of vocals were weak also but then chorus kicks in with harmonies. It really makes sense with the story of paying homage to our ancestors. Which Tuomas’s genius song building. I think the listener just needs to understand and enjoy the music. The video alone is like no other. Then song with it goes to whole new level!

I initially wondered about the mix, but I am now wondering if some uploads or replays are compressing or clipping the higher sound levels at times causing distortion for some playbacks when the volume is high in the music.
👍Nice one. Tuomas indeed,is a smart man and some say/think the mix is intentionally done like this to get us dive(no pun)deeper into this song. It sure is a song wich get's better ,for me,if you listen more to it but,it's a artistic choise and it's a great song and fantastic video,still would have like a bit more clarity on some vocal parts. It just is a personnel difference of opinion between a artistic or soundwise choise. Live ,i think this will be a banger.😉🤘

Every reaction video I see it's clear that the good video is masking the weak song. A lot has been said about it, but the vocal mix is really terrible. "That's the way it should be," say a number of people, well if that's the way it should be you are no good as a producer. This way you seriously disappoint a strong vocalist like Floor Jansen.
Then the song itself, Nightwish ripples on on the old, existing same thing as if there is no more inspiration. This song is a kind of compilation with all kinds of things that have already been done.
Each to his own.
