Another great and informative video - I’d also suggest building a good rapport with your driver/guide, he (or she) will provide a wealth of information and do their utmost to get you in the best positions for photo opportunities.
Hi I am new to this channel thanks for the tips I am a nikon shooter currently my longest lens is the nikonz 100-400 I also have a 70-200 do you think this is good enough for safari or should I pick up the nikonz 180-600mm and combine it with the 70-200 as a kit with my z9 and z8 thanks we are heading to the Serengeti September. 2025
Some other tips. Bring a verrry strong zoom lens as sometimes animals may be very far away. Try to anticipate which way an animal will move and get in front of it. If you are following predators and they appear to be hunting, stick with them. Look for circling birds as under them might be hunting or a recent kill. Be ready to switch to burst shooting quickly in case of a hunt. Don’t forget to take videos as well…they capture sounds and movement that of course photos cannot.
Do you advice people to bring monopods, super glamps or gorillapods to get it steady? Or handheld is enough? I dont know if specially for video is a must have
Great concise photography wisdom. I subscribed and look forward to learning more that helps me experience my own photography better. Flying to Tanzania in a week.
I heard that I can only bring 33 pounds of luggage on the safari or pay extra fee for camera gear.. do you know how much they charge or is there a workaround to not have to pay?
I am going to Kenya and Tanzania next month (June 2022) and I have a couple balloon rides scheduled. I don’t know which lenses I should be bringing and if I’ll have time to be switching. I will check your other videos to see if you cover equipment. Thanks for these tips!
Hey Felix dope video man, I’m gonna be in the Serengeti 2 weeks from today!! Do you have an Instagram where I can check out your collection of photos? Looking for inspiration
