Slow day or not, for whatever reason I find fishing videos more cathartic than almost anything else (except maybe a certain british baking series....). And after today, I needed a fish vid to finish with.

Me too. Glad I could help

We use to cut the line if we got a gar. No way was I messing with them. 🐓🐣I’ll admit I was scared.🤣

    •  2 года назад +1

I don’t blame you. They can cut you up

We call that a wimp-out here, basically you lose your man card.

I tried gar for the first time not too long ago and I was pretty impressed. It tasted very similar to gator tail.

    •  2 года назад +1

I’ve heard that. One of these days I’ll have to try it.

With freshwater, do you ever catch to eat?

    •  2 года назад +1

Sometimes but rarely. I mainly fish catch and release.

Your “spotted” gar looks to be a Florida gar

    •  2 года назад +1

      That is quite possible

It definitely is a florida gar.

Cold front 🤣 won’t last longer than 12 hours in Florida and be in the 80s in 48 hrs! 🤪

That’s a relatively small gar but still no joke, just like gators the lil ones can still shred you up! Hope you got some herping in!

    •  2 года назад +1

Sure did, and yes it usually does in Florida but the cold snap last the better part of the week I was there.

So every fish I saw pulled out was very grossly malnourished. A gentle tip feed at least four times a year maybe couple thousand shad or shiners.

    •  2 года назад +1

They are because of the time of year. The bass have been sitting on nests for a month and not eating. The lake is stocked with bait fish so they’ll be back up to weight in no time
