Zaheer is that good cuz he was a non bending fighting master who idolized air bender philosophy. He legit just incorporated it into his style of fighting. He was already such a monster that they had to lock him on a mountain top
Zaheer seemed like he only idolized the philosophy of the air nomads and not really the fighting style since hes mostly been fight with some hand jabs, kicks and punches and not much like how Tenzin or Aang fights but more like Korra's version of fighting style which is like boxing style.
Zaheer was already an air nomad nerd, and he showcased it when reciting Guru Laghima in his first appearance, not to mention incorporating airbending movements into his fighting style as a non-bender. That's why he's already very good at airbending, despite only recently getting it
The theory that P'Li is related to Azula is hilarious. Because P'Li is HILARIOUSLY tall and it makes me recall Azula scaring off a guy on ember Island by telling him her grand plans for their invincible children. both this and last episode was really interesting since we saw how Ba Sing Se has changed in the 60 years after the 100 years war; but the real juicy meat of the story was with the new air benders and what to do with them, this is where i feel like both Tenzin and the Earth Queen share something similar in that they both want the new air benders as for something, Tenzin want them to leave their homes and family to be Air Nomads and rebuild the Air Nation while the Earth Queen wants the draft them and make a elite air bending regiment and yes ik people will say its bad that the earth queen is drafting her citizens but Bumi is right in that they are her citizens and she has a right to do that but Tenzin is a bit more bad since being a air nomad means leaving all earthly tethers away, meaning your family, things/passions you love and leaving your home and putting a lot of responsibility and pressure on people who never asked to be air benders. yes i am a wear that Tenzin did give them a choice at the end of the episode but what other choice did they have instead of accepting his proposal, except go into what is essentially witness protection or being hounded by the earth queen and be drafted into the military or be executed for leaving.
I agree , tenzin has to come to terms that traditions evolve especially in modern society, it will be hard to maintain nomadity among a generation who hasn't grown within it
I've always had a problem with Tenzin's black-and-white view of the choices for the new airbenders. I know it's important for Tenzin to rebuild the Air Nation/Nomad culture. I know he's shouldering that burden. Honestly, though, I think that being an Air Nomad is optional, and should come secondary to simply passing on the techniques of airbending. You should be able to train as an airbender without becoming a monk. This is a rare selfish oversight on Tenzin's part.
For Tenzin, being a monk/nomad was never optional, so he's operating under the preconceptions and traditions that Aang left him with. Ideally, it shouldn't be so strict or mandatory, but their current predicament has left them without perspective on reality. It is such a painfully realistic problem that I can't help but pity. Fans of the series aren't even willing to part with certain concepts and traditions that ATLA has set up, and we're not even part of their universe. If people on planet earth can't even get over the fact that certain bending skillsets are no longer gate-kept, how in the world is Tenzin going to part with the notion that non-monks should be able to master airbending?
Yup, you guys are on a wild ride with this season. It only gets better to. Both season 3 and 4 are very amazing. Zaheer studied martial arts and air bender techniques through books before he ever got Air bending and before he went to prison. He's probably in his 40's now. More surprises are on the way in later episodes, but no spoilers until you reach them. Zaheer and his gang wanted to kidnap Korra for some big reason, no one knows exactly what that is, but you may find out later. There is alot of connections even to season 2. So those who say season 2 sucks, this season has ties and connections to last. For starters without Harmonic convergence we wouldn't have gotten so many new air benders without that event. The world is correcting the imbalance of benders. Remember the Air nation was wiped out in Aang's era, so this is Nature's way to balancing out the amount of benders.
You guys really need stop putting so much stock into how people look in this show lol. Please remember that Bumi, katara and aangs son, actually looks like aangs best friend
