- It's merely coincidence but there are jigs that go under these names, however these are both reels. The first one may have been composed by fiddler John McFadden(1847-1913), who was one of the musicians that Capt. O'Neill transcribed tunes from for his tune collections. The second one is an A Mixolydian tune, probably associated with or composed by an East Clare concertina player John Naughton(1911-1997). There are a number of tunes that have his name attached to them. I've also heard this tune played in a minor(Dorian) mode.
Great relaxed playing. Wonderful. Thank you
Hi Tony, sounding good & playing great. Keep safe.
great stuff tony lovely and steady. love your playing such energy in this terrible lockdown..
Good one Tony.
I love this but so many versions on the swallow tail on the session am not sure which one it is if any one can help be much appreciated
There's version here that might help: www.piper-frank.de/tunebook/trad/pdf/swallows_tail_reel__trad__ador.pdf which is a little different in some notes but basically the same. It also appears in O'Neill's 1001 on Page 108.
Much appreciated Tony thankyou so much 👍👍👍👍👍
Really nice 👌 😍💋 💝💖❤️

Very good. Great skill and fantastic use of the little finger on the fretboard.....which I can't do. You must intend keeping the Clareen Elite.....see your family crest on the neck. 😂
Yes, I'm very happy with my Clareen, one of my wiser life decisions !! As regards the little finger it's pretty important in my technique. I don't have much advice to give you other that to suggest you incorporate it into your playing, especially for the high B notes.
