  • We think our foam float strips are the best form of float to buy for boat lift / boat hoist installation and removal for DIY users! We also sell tons to pro installers who don’t have a barge, and even those with barges for extra crews or when doing quick jobs here and there or to get into tight spaces where the barge simply won’t fit. You can always bundle sets of strips with a ratchet strap to use for the dock/pier installation too!
Here, we show a solo removal of an oversized PWC/ jet ski lift (HD 4ft. legs, 1 ft. wider than standard and with dual bunks for 2 stand ups and dual steps… AKA, considerably heavier than most common PWC lifts are), over a 5 ft. sea wall with just our foam float strips and some old steel dock poles. For installation, simply reverse the process for the easiest lift installation and leveling that you’ll probably ever do. If your water level is closer to the top of your sea wall, it’ll be even easier!
We use a very similar process for boat lifts/ hoists as well, albeit with 1-3 more helpers depending on the hoist size and physical ability of the helpers, more floats and typically our boat lift crane too. The crane helps lift up and get elevation over the wall versus sliding up the poles, and using the poles as levers to help shove forward onto the grass once the boat lift framework is high enough above the wall to get our poles underneath. Use these methods and our installation/ removal tools at your own risk, when in doubt, always hire a professional service!
