ok. this is the 20th time listening to this song in 20 hours. I am balling my eyes out at this performance. This is the best song ever written. Please come to the US
Peasant might be my favorite album ever. The relevance in Richard Dawson's vivid poetey is already impressive, and paired with his constantly cathartic melodies that level and lift me to the hall of Gods, this album is a masterpiece. I pray that enough folks find this to uphold Richard Dawson's deserved timelessness.
Brilliant lyrics to this wonderful anti-war song set well over a millenium ago: Here we are at the Fortress of Long Wings My fellows bristling with anticipation At slurp among their supperbowls A map of steam in the rafters overheard Shovelling it in I don't taste a thing Only a memory of Kisses spilled upon my chin [Chorus] I am tired I am afraid My heart is full of dread I am tired And I am afraid My heart is full of dread [Verse 2] Even now on the evening of battle I'm clammy with doubt of love I'm really scared of going How I yearn to hold you once again In the morning we March across the sea To the sunken monastery To face our faceless enemy [Chorus] I am tired I am afraid My heart is full of dread I am tired I am afraid My heart is full of dread [Verse 3] The rolling fields grow dark as the grave And I am running for my life Avowed to never draw another blade I'll be back home just as soon as I can Let's betroth without delay Pack the horse and ride away Find some better place where We might raise a family [Chorus] My heart is full of hope I am tired And I am afraid My heart is full of hope
Unbelievable. For me it's between him, Justin Vernon and Kendrick Lamar for best singer/songwriter/performer currently, but this guy just needs to rock up in a pub with his guitar, rather than a multimillion dollar production to deliver his vision.

Just had tears in my eyes myself, I need to see this guy live.
@@justsomeyoutuber222 it's the whole package. Yes, the performance is what took it to that higher level.
I am in awe of his songwriting, guitar virtuosity, vocal gymnastics... and humbleness.

Brilliant lyrics to this wonderful anti-war song set well over a millenium ago:
Here we are at the Fortress of Long Wings
My fellows bristling with anticipation
At slurp among their supperbowls
A map of steam in the rafters overheard
Shovelling it in
I don't taste a thing
Only a memory of
Kisses spilled upon my chin
[Chorus]
I am tired
I am afraid
My heart is full of dread
I am tired
And I am afraid
My heart is full of dread
[Verse 2]
Even now on the evening of battle
I'm clammy with doubt of love
I'm really scared of going
How I yearn to hold you once again
In the morning we
March across the sea
To the sunken monastery
To face our faceless enemy
[Chorus]
I am tired
I am afraid
My heart is full of dread
I am tired
I am afraid
My heart is full of dread
[Verse 3]
The rolling fields grow dark as the grave
And I am running for my life
Avowed to never draw another blade
I'll be back home just as soon as I can
Let's betroth without delay
Pack the horse and ride away
Find some better place where
We might raise a family
[Chorus]
My heart is full of hope
I am tired
And I am afraid
My heart is full of hope
that door closing at 2:24 though...
The door understood
