Hi team! Just to let you know that if you're wondering why the music gets weird at 6:00 and 8:18 it's because I got copyright claimed for a recording published in 1930 that's been public domain for 22 years. I put silly RUclips Library music in because I'm petty and really bitter about it. You have to laugh or else you cry I guess.
why are you giving out wrong information? 3mm and 3.5mm circulars and DPNs are available in the UK. I am currently using 3mm circulars for 2x2 rib of the in the round fair isle cowl i'm knitting. I have a DK weight sock on my 3.5mm DPNs. I am in Scotland.

tbh, at this point I'd say the status of my yarn stash is STABLE as in "stash acquired beyond life expectence" but I'm trying to not be too hard on myself as much of the stash has been inherited from other knitters who have already passed on and yarn doesn't really expire, so if it outlasts me I'm sure someone will find uses for it : )
I literally laughed out when you took out the bag you forgot in the freezer 😂 I'm going to go back and watch this video whenever I feel an urge to shop for yarn without any projects in mind haha
I love my interchangeable needle set. I always have the right size and length of needle. It's a bit of an investment all at once but has been totally worth it for me. I'm really enjoying seeing your stashbusting adventure. There's something very satisfying about pairing up yarn and patterns from stash and coming up with ideas you may not have ever discovered otherwise.
Yes I found that once you consider how much it would cost to buy every single circular needle length & size, you'd be spending 3-4x what the interchangeable circular needle set costs! Plus it's a real space saver, the entire set just lives in this neat little book-sized zippered case that can be neatly tucked away on a shelf rather than taking up all the space that a load of fixed circular needles do
That's what I'm planning on doing once I grit myself to buy a circular set of needles. The price surprised me, I must admit, but it would absolutely be cheaper and a much much better investment of my money.
My husband bought me a set for my birthday. I was a bit choked when I found out how much it cost, but it has given me so much flexibility with yarn weights, gauge, and project size. I’ve used them so much already I think it was worth it.
As a canadian, I've seen some pretty wacky toque silhouettes, yet somehow, someone always manages to "pull it off". I think it usually comes down to a. Claude, I hope you're well and you're enjoying the new year! While I do my personal de-stashing journey I watch old episodes of yours, I miss you and hope you're well!
LOL, 5 years, that is funny. Perhaps keep the socks for nights in the winter when you want to be cozy. The beany is so cute on you, you look lovely with it all. Keep on knitting and I wish I could do the same....time to learn. Love from Canada. 💝💗💓
Claude, thank you so much for sharing your stash busting journey with us. I also suffer from multiple chronic illnesses and crochet and knitting (and journaling and sewing and... and... and..) has been life saving for me. It keeps me feeling like I can still be productive when stuck in bed and I really find that crafting helps my anxiety. I really love seeing all of your beautiful makes
A great video. I am in total denial about the size of my stash. I really related to the freezer discovery I am always opening cupboards and finding yarn I had forgotten about, some of it is older than my 30 year old son. Maybe one day I will be brave like you. Happy knitting!
Same. For my new years resolution last year I wanted to reduce my stash by 80%. My stash GREW by 30% D: Starting this year I decided to reduce my goal to a reduction of 70% but the main difference I made was that I created some monthly goals for myself to reach my overall goal to make it more aachieable :) I started with a total of 137 balls (I'm counting per ball regardless of size, cus they all kinda average out to 100g each anyhow). So that's 96 to consume. So far I've eaten 2 balls this year, I've worked out I need to munch 2/week. Wish me luck :)
Just found your channel, so rare to find a knitter who shares my love of vintage patterns in lace and sock weight! And sewing vintage patterns. Subscribed!
I just came across your channel & am loving it! I, too, have a yarn stash issue & am dreading going through it… My 2023 resolution is to TRY to only knit from stash if possible. When you found the extra yarn in your freezer I just about died laughing! I love the green you used in your shawl. I was yelling at the tv “use the green!” & cheered when you agreed. It knit up beautifully! And I’m not a big mohair kinda gal but that top looked super cute on you! And I’ve already looked up that sock pattern as I am a crazy sock knitter myself. Really looking forward to catching up on more of your videos. 🥰👍
This was such a fun video to watch! It’s really interesting to see what you knit in a month and I love seeing how creative you’re being finding ways to use it all up
Wonderful video! I appreciate your predicament and your humor 😂 keep chipping away at those yarns, it’s kind of like saving pennies it seems to take forever but you can do it!
I love that you changed the yellow to the green. When you were laying out the yarns I was talking to you (lol) and saying “the green!”. That was too funny-you can't hear me lol 😂
I laughed several times while watching this video. I'm sorry. I know you're trying, but it's just so funny. So much yarn, so little time! That trick with felting the ends together is so cool, I wish I had know that before I started my big project, it's to late know, I'm almost done, but next time...
Fun video, I do love the vintage music that goes along with the knitting. Also, a little pompom on the top of the beanie (?) to erase the pointy effect, and I always saw this kind of hat with a fold.
You did so much knitting! Even if it takes a little while to get through some of your stash, you will still see some progress and have some space for storing the yarn in your boxes soon. Don't lose heart. Having enough yarn for 5 years knitting means you don't need to worry over holiday and birthday gifts for at least that long. :)
I think the beanie quite suits you! You’re definitely supposed to fold up the end, though. Gives you nice extra warmth for the ears. I’m so impressed by all that you finished in just a month, especially with low-energy days. It gives me hope that I might be able to finish my single project.
Excellent podcast. The Chocolate Biscuit Socks made me giggle. I usually wear my DK/Aran socks as indoor instead of slippers. Liked the Grey cardigan you were wearing at the beginning. I felt for you when you found the freezer yarn. Looking forward to next month.
I'm currently knitting the Laulu shawl as a stash busting project and I can tell that it definitely won't be enough to bust my stash of silk/ mohair so I think I may do the ghost whisperer next, because it looks so cute! Can't wait to see what you do next month!
Hi! That shawl, wearing Chocolate Biscuit socks, chilly Fall, cold of Winter, and a nice hot cuppa in front of the Telly, or snuggled if you have a day you don’t feel well would be fabulous. The thicker socks generally are not designed for normal shoes. Either for trainers 👟 or boots 👢. Lovely! 🧶🧶🧶
Loved seeing all your makes. The hat - I often have to make hats less tall than the pattern suggests they should be or I get the same effect as you did. The socks are lovely. Maybe you could keep them as slipper socks?
I have good news for you: the cones weigh anywhere between 30 to 90 grams, and plastic ones are usually on a heavier side. So you actually have less than 180 balls of yarn
Yes, I was going to mention this too. The last cardboard cone I weighed was 27.6g. I tend to cake up the yarn off the cone because I find it's easier to store and carry about and you can just wind off the amount you need for a project.
Also was about to comment this. :-) The conical cardboard ones in most of the cone yarn I got from work were all around 45 g, and yes, the comparable plastic ones were heavier.
You are a sheer delight Claude, loved this! And, that ghost whisperer sweater, and the Tarra chevron shawl, are both divine on you. Thanks for the ride ... and the rain, plane sounds, pigeon cameo, fire emergency ... never a dull moment!
Found your videos about 4 days ago and I have been binge watching ever since. I find your vids fascinating, especially the knitting ones, I am a knitter myself, (but nothing as intricate as you do) , I knit mostly dolls clothes. The falling leaf gloves you did in a previous video where absolutely beautiful. I have tried knitting on a set of 4 but I just don't get it.( getting a bit to old to learn lol).
I truly enjoyed the video and look forward to watching your knitted projects conquer your yarn stash! May I just say that your garden is lovely? So beautiful!🌻
You're amazing :D loooving this type of "what can I make with my stash?" content, because I do it all the time, very rarely do I buy yarn for specific project, so so relatable :D
Love it! Can't wait to see what you do with the rest of your stash. Sometimes I think stashbusting is a good way of allowing us a chance to 'release' unwanted things back out for someone else to use.
Dk weight socks are my favorite, but then I live in northern Sweden and wear my winter shoes one size larger than my summer shoes to make room for ”proper” winter socks.
You did great in terms of production knitting. I too used to have issues never having the size needle required so I broke down and purchased a circular interchangeable set. Very pleased. Jumpers and cardigans would take up plenty of yarn. As would weaving. A small rigid heddle loom would use that 2 ply cone yarn which is really for weaving. But that is for another time once you go down that weaving route. Sigh. But uses up yarn incredibly fast. Hang in there. You are doing great. An inspiration.
Claude- I enjoy all of your videos. They are as charming as you are! Thank you for sharing. You have inspired me and I’ve begun knitting from my too large stash. I’ve made two hats so far and plan to make the Ghost Whisperer Sweater. Sadly, I won’t look nearly as good in it as you do but I believe it will at least look okay on me. Thank you again for letting us get to know you and your fun projects.
How wonderfully productive you are! And I love that your stash-busting items don't look like they're made out of odds & ends (although I love a rag-bag cardi as well, but you don't need a whole wardrobe like that); your quality is so fine. Regarding extraneous noise, I live next to a hospital, & two helicopters landed during your video, so I felt at one with your battle there! I hope you've had good health in August, & look forward to the next installment. Best wishes from Czechia!
Just came across this latest podcast and enjoyed every minute. Not too serious but still with some good tips. Looking forward to more of the disappearing yarn stash.
FYI We do have 3mm in the UK. You can get them from Addi Sharps (they're my favourite circular needles cus 1) the cable is really flexible so it's not as annoying as some circulars and 2) they have sharp tips which makes them easier to squeeze into tiny stitches if you need to). Another option is KnitPro as well. I tend to like them for straight needles because they're all various bright colours which I find quite pleasing. In saying all of that I exclusively knit with metal because I'm less of a fan of wood or plastic. TLDR: We do have 3mm in the UK, you just gotta know where to look :)
ur ghost whisperer looks amazing!! also i know u didnt make much progress with your stash numbers wise but i really feel like you did a great job knitting a bunch of things! & i think the tarra shawl looks like a rly nice pattern 🌸💚

Oh that shawl!!! 😍 All of the makes are gorgeous. Try rolling the rim of the beanie up twice. That will give you the more Scandinavian wide brim and help to stop your head 'looking like an egg', as you say. Personally, I think it looks great on you, especially with the jumper.

Perfect for wearing when it’s cold and eating some chocolate biscuits with a cup of tea lol
@@geministargazer9830 ok but ... I need some chocolate biscuits with a cup of tea RIGHT NOW, after reading this =D
Really like the shawl. The green is gorgeous.
A delight to watch. I especially enjoyed the Tarra shawl knitting adventures.
Enjoyed all the makes and would love to make the Tarra shawl. Looks fabulous.
Love your play suit!
I have good news for you: the cones weigh anywhere between 30 to 90 grams, and plastic ones are usually on a heavier side. So you actually have less than 180 balls of yarn
That's amazing!!!!
This episode was such a fun one.. I laughed a lot.. with you and not at you of course 😉
You are a sheer delight Claude, loved this! And, that ghost whisperer sweater, and the Tarra chevron shawl, are both divine on you. Thanks for the ride ... and the rain, plane sounds, pigeon cameo, fire emergency ... never a dull moment!
Love that join method! I’ll have to try it with some of my wool knits. I also have those socks in my Ravelry queue, and your joke was funny. 😁
This is my new favorite podcast! I burst into laughter at work. 😂😂 Good luck with knitting your stash. I would need 20+ years to work through mine.
Yes perhaps I should reserve judgement on the DK socks until it's winter. It's easy to dismiss them when it's 30°C outside!
I’ve made two hats so far and plan to make the Ghost Whisperer
Sweater.
I absolutely LOVE the shawl and I was hoping you'd pick the green as well 😄
I love the colours you've chosen for your Tarra shawl.
Thank you!
I think the shawl is beautiful 😊Also, love chocolate biscuit socks! 😆
Just came across this latest podcast and enjoyed every minute. Not too serious but still with some good tips. Looking forward to more of the disappearing yarn stash.
That's me! Not too serious but still some good tips 😄
Just found your Chanel, I’m an avid knitter, loved this vlog, vibe and projects. Immediately subscribed. Can’t wait to see more. From Deb in North Carolina, USA
Love the music!
You're a genius! I love that idea!
@@RetroClaude Thank you! I look forward to seeing you try it.
