I love watching craftsman make cool useful tools. That came out really nice when it was all done much better than anything you could buy. Plus the satisfaction of creating feels good.
Very nice mate, I have had a big bronze nut of a propellor shaft knocking around the shop for years, now you have given a use for it, thanks for a nice vid,, from Australia
Cool and useful, I might have to try to make something similar some day. Though I don't think the sides of the nut needed the buffing wheel. It might be the year 2020, but not everything _needs_ to be shiny and chrome.
Amazing project - just leave out the decorative "stress raisers" on the handle: they transform a modern, elegant design into what looks like a re-purposed chair leg ... I would know, as I am a chair maker by trade and this is how we made our mallets back in the day!
What do they say about great minds? I did this on my channel a few years ago with a broken pool stick and some tennis racquet handle heat shrink to make a light mace about 18" long. Your polished head and laithed handle look so much better though. You make me want to buy a laith. Looks great
I love this video! It has got me back into turning... I haven't turned since high school! I hope you haven't already answered this, but with 900 comments, I didn't find it yet... what type of finish is that that you rub on while it's turning?
Thanks! I use the same lights and camera as in my previous 3 videos, Panasonic G80/G85. Only difference is that this time it was full manual mode, while in previous videos it was aperture priority and the camera decided the lighting. Even though I used +3 steps exposure compensation it still was too dark... This time I like the way the video looks, but I overexposed a few shots. I need a bit more experience.
I appreciate every step you made to produce this cute hammer. I saved a rather huge not from a Curby hanger project, she'll be on way to become a shiny mallet
I can’t tell if this is a Russian or American channel, it looks American but then you got like 50% of the people commenting in Russian, so imma guess both
