If you have a column for the linked records, you simply create a separate filtered view to only show active records. That would be the simplest way unless I'm misunderstanding what you're looking to achieve. But you can also only link active records if you set the tables correctly, there is a condition you can set.
The lookup field is standard and not a paid option, it should be available for both Mac and PC (I have both). To properly link and lookup values I started to show this around minute 2:15.

I can’t see a look up field as an option. Is this a paid for or pc only option? I can’t tell what im doing wrong after my tables are linked
