After a poorly slept night and Vegas crashing over 10 times it is finally here! Do you guys like it when I do a direct comparison with the Light Novel dialogue? Let me know in the comments 💪
the fact that they included Al saying something in English (the phrase "piece of advice"), and other stuff, gives me hope that there will be an anime original scene. The details are so subtle and are catered to the Japanese audience, because English speakers probably didn't even realize that Al used an English word because we are mostly reading subtitles, but Japanese speakers would immediately notice this.
I already said this in your previous reviews but it is crazy how similar all your opinions are to mine, even the tiniest nitpicks! The Reinhard scene shuffle was inconsequential for us novel readers, but it definetely helped anime onlys to better picture where every character is at each point of this arc. Maybe this episode changed perspectives too much for my taste, but I guess it is unavoidable in the anime format. Regarding the Garfiel carrying the dying Mimi scene, I fully agree that it failed to convey the same impact as its LN counterpart. However, I believe that it actually lacked a litttle more time focused on Garfiel on screen rather than the colour palette, they basically showed him half of a second before changing angles! Also, I forgot but yeah, Mimi looked odd at the beginning but I couldn't pinpoint why besides her big head. Never considered it was due to Garfiel's pov being closer to her while kneeling. Now, about the cut content consequences or barely mentioning some lore details... You are the first person I see not complaining that they cut the Trisection divine protection and THANK F*CKING GOD. I was getting tired of every twitter user asking for such meaningless info dumps that would only slow the pacing and dialogues. The director made a clever choice by mixing visual elements to let the viewer know the basics of Mimi's DP and that's a W in my books. Another pleasant surprise was the Death God DP mention. I hated when they cut Wilhem's dialogue in arc 3 about it, but colour me surprise it fucking worked! And tbh, I like how the anime wants to reveal Theresia. I feel like the LN softened the reveal too early but it made it work thanks to the ******** and WW flashback scene. Finally, Al. Everyday I wake up cursing s1 director for cutting the carriage scene and now we are suffering the consequences of such a poor choice. Al's dialogues this episode should make the viewers be suspicious of him more a more. UNLESS VIEWERS DONT KNOW THE VITAL INFO THAT HES ALSO A GUY FROM JAPAN! I really hope during the counterattack part of this season, Al gets during his fight at least a small flashback or callback to when he revealed Subaru he was japanese. Otherwise, if the anime somehow makes it to future late arcs, Al's situation is gonna be a shitshow. Btw, some dialogue they cut when Subaru chose to focus on the metia tower rather than go rescue Emilia, was related to Sirius. And unfortunately I think this would have made more sense since Subaru was afraid that Sirius could use the radio tower to enhance her authority. Some insight which imo gives Subaru some respect for already thinking about the the implications of one of the 2 authorities he just saw, and also foreshadowing his analytical mind about the Sin Archbishops authorities. Anyways, great review overall! Hopefully see you next week. Keep it up bro, especially the little jokes here and there, they actually make me chuckle.
Thanks a lot for the support! I'm probably not as "demanding" as other novel readers because I started as an anime only for Rezero (almost all the way until the end of season 2) and I've seen WAY TOO MANY adaptations be completely butchered so I know how to temper my expectations. I don't mind material being shortened (or even cut) as long as the story makes sense and stays true to the core of the novels. It's only when they remove (imo) important dialogue that I have a problem with it. Maybe it's because I also collect the books, but I like that the novels and anime are not 1:1, I like having different experiences.
Garfiel did say they won't just let them run away, so hit and run seemed an appropriate strategy. Agreed on the color palette, but I'm also nitpicking. I might be in the minority when I say removing some of the more obvious Al stuff was a good decision. You can still tell something is suspicious but now it's more subtle. I like it (the same with the Wilhelm wound imo, more subtle). Great review! Been years since I read the LN so you sometimes also remind me of useful context in these.
Regarding comparisons with the LN, I think as long as it's not spoiling major cut content it's fine. Not really sure about the Al part though, since it makes it more on the nose than if it was simply included in the anime.
I did hesitate to put it on the video, the only reason I did is because it doesn't "spoil" anything, it just further adds to the intrigue. I'll have to be careful with line reads though, as they are reordering a lot of events
There are a few couple of things that you left out, mainly on Ricardo's part, because he was given a lot of changes compared to his LN counterpart, including the anime only part where he carries Subaru and he fights with Garfiel against the hooded man where in the LN Garf fights the hooded woman while Ricardo fights the man by himself and got his ass beat by the Kurgan.
I don't mind it tbh as the broad daylight adds to the creepy element of all the carnage. It's only in certain scenes like this Garfiel one that I wish for something slightly grittier...
Based on the first teaser, op and ed, it is clear they have designed and created backgrounds that are more dark/dull. Based on this I feel like they will change it after the first SPOILER Flood

personally ,i like it but i have read the novels tbf
I think Subaru carries Crusch because it was mentioned somewhere that Crusch has a fear of heights.

That's a great point! I don't like that they cut this important dialogue, but I'm still hopeful they'll handle the Al situation in a satisfying manner
Yeah, except there are times where other characters have used English words a few times. Though that could be due to certain implications I guess
i like how they're reintroducing formerly cut plot-points like how the witches died , we might even get a certain characters reveal this season
I really love your reviews. I hope you will keep making videos like this for the whole season 3 of Re Zero.
Thank you! If life allows, I'll definitely cover all of them 😀
5:22 felt is old enough to drink. Even garfiel is old enough to drink

Seeing the more girly side of Crusch with the wind elevator was pretty cute tbh

És tuga irmão?
Video incrível, é tão bom ver este tipo de conteúdo, com criadores portugueses
O sotaque não dá para esconder. Abraço irmão 💪
i don't know which was better during this episode , the action animation or diddyus corneas
I will say there was a small line in S1 that a bunch of people probably forgot. So anime onlys might have an idea or they might not
my biggest gripe with season 3 so far, its too bright and colorful

CGI is used normally because its cheaper and less time consuming.
