- "Long Lanterns" is a visually captivating and introspective short film inspired by the stylistic elements of renowned filmmaker Wong Kar Wai. The film delves into the profound interplay between light and darkness, highlighting their inseparable connection and the emotional depths they evoke.
The story unfolds in a dimly lit metropolis, capturing the beauty of contrasting shadows and ethereal glimmers. The protagonist, an enigmatic figure, navigates through the city's alleyways and vibrant streets, always surrounded by an air of mystery. Their presence signifies an embodiment of both darkness and light, blurring the boundaries between the two.
Through poetic imagery and contemplative moments, "Long Lanterns" portrays light as a symbol of hope, enlightenment, and self-discovery. The film explores the notion that light exists even within the deepest darkness, waiting to be illuminated. Shadows cast by towering buildings and flickering street lamps create a captivating interplay of contrast, mirroring the complexities of the protagonist's own journey.
Impressive, that color palette and the movement of the camera give it the perfect Wong Kar-Wai vibes
Great video, what lens do you use
Hey, 18-55 Fujifilm lens
What settings are you using in this film?
Hey, i filmed this one with iso up to 6400(my highest native iso), kept aperture as low as possible( perhaps something around 3 f ). Regarding post editing, i used some noise reduction to make sure that everything is as clean as possible, added halation, then i did basic corrections. And only after previous steps i added this green look with gamma weel and corrections in shadows and highlights with log wheels. To get this low shutter speed effect i used effects in DaVinci - Stop Motion combined with Motion Trails. Thanks for watching!
And i film in F-LOG format
