Back in 1982 when Jack and Diane was the big song I had a crush on a girl in junior high,i was a 9th grader she was an 8th grader.Her name was Diane and I would always walk by her locker and shut it asking where's Jack,where's Jack lol.She was a hot gal.Here it is 2017 and we been together since 1983 and married since 1991 and got two kids and still remembering Jack and Diane :)

Why did John cougar hold the mellencamp name until later on in his career?
Think that was in his record label’s contract, if I’m remembering correctly. I do remember him saying he didn’t like it, but he went out on a limb after being a cameraman & thinking he could play better than band he was filming.
