Is that some slightly different version of biscuit dough? I always thought if your biscuit dough got to the point where it was stretchy then the gluten was overworked? When I usually make biscuits I do no more than pat and shape, then cut, never actually working the dough.
One, let the cute Westie have some whipped cream! And two, I was just going to ask how you got your models (including said Westie) to have the same manic smile? 😂 although, if you want to make a nice cake for your pretty boy, buy lean mean of your choice, finely chop it, mixed in cubed boiled sweet potato, add a beaten egg, use an oven safe round cookie cutter and bake in the oven in however many layers you want. Then you take either boiled white potato or sweet potato and whip it with chicken broth (homemade/unseasoned) until you have fluffy whipped potatoes. Then layer and frost and you have a perfect doggy birthday cake. I do something similar for my cats’ birthdays. It looks surprisingly similar to a normal mini cake, I even pipe decorations to add the celebratory air.
Well I loved this because when my sweet son was 6 years old he saw the bake and fill pan advertised and it turned out to be his sweet Christmas gift from him to me🥰. I do want to mention that there was a paper insert in mine with amended instructions for temperature or baking time depending on cake mix used I believe. I made a spice cake and filled with apple pie filling. My sweet son also saw commercials for turbie twist and hair combs which appeared as either birthday or Christmas gifts as well. He is now 28 years old 😢so this episode was very special for me ❤
@moniquebrown1678 your boy is a man after my father’s heart. He has always believed everything he sees on tv, since childhood. Even when I was little I’d just shake my head and think just because you see it on tv doesn’t mean you need it 😂.

If I’m remembering correctly I believe that was one of the suggestions in the infomercial 😂 I struggle with the idea of stuffing savoury foods inside one another so it always kind of grossed me out 😂
@@jacforswear18same, kind of. My issue is with putting thick/dense foods inside of raw meat that can’t be overcooked, e.g., cheese-filled burgers or poultry with stuffing (as Alton Brown said decades ago, stuffing is evil). However, if the meatloaf is fully cooked before being layered with mashed potatoes, that’s probably fine - kind of like an inside-out shepherd’s pie.
Oh my gosh SAME though, I was just a little tiny baby and had no clue what a Baked Alaska was but I felt so fancy even knowing that something like a cake on fire existed.

First off, you are fun to watch for a first look into your channel. Sharing the reason I bought this pan many years ago... Porcupine Cake - a chocolate cake made in the more half ball shaped pan and a 2nd run in the oven for the insert alone - filling the inside like a layer cake. The idea was inspired by colonial amarican folks who shated a porcupine cake with family friends during the holidays. I later went crazy, baked only ib the rounder half ball and turned the concave side up, no filling, dabbled in some peaks of icing and sprinkled in blue edible glitter to make a Geode (like a rock geode) cross section for a kid's birthday. Disclaimer: no edible glitter should find its way onto a cake intended to have candles blown out. No ball of flame like I've seen in videos since but what a mess! 😅
First and foremost, I love this series! I find As Seen on TV products highly amusing. Many ads are my guilty pleasure because of the camp factor. Second, we’re around the same age, so I also remember the ads of this cake pan back in the mid ‘00s. I’m glad you gave this pan a fair chance and managed to create some tasty cakes. Maybe not up to your typical standards as a pro baker, but I think they turned out better than expected.
As a novice home baker this video had so many great different ideas I want to try to use...the sour cream ganache, the dulce de leche, the mousse, the roasted strawberries! It's so hard to find recipes online that arent the same old ideas. I'm the designated birthday cake maker in the family and I love trying new things. Anyways thanks for the inspiration! I swear to god you or something out in the universe knew that I was thinking about this cake pan infomercial the other day and wondering if they worked or were still around. It has been probably a decade since I saw it on TV and it was probably my favorite infomercial as a child. It is really funny to see it pop up in my suggested without me looking for it. Great video, thanks for the walk down memory lane!!!
I bought this pan set from a consignment shop while visiting a friend. I didn't know exactly how to use it. So here it is 2 years later and I stumbled on this video. Thank you for the directions and thoughts as to how to use pans best.
okay this is CRAZY! We bought this pan I think in like 2006? 2005? idk but we used it MAYBE twice and never again. Literally yesterday, my mom was asking me if we should save this pan or give it away and then your video popped up hahaha
@@susanburrows5288 Someone might still make the metal version, even if it's more expensive. I feel like metal would be heavier and keep the batter in place.
@@AmyLSacksMy mom had one of the original all-metal checkerboard pans from the late ‘70’s/early ‘80’s. It was used exactly once, by me. Even the metal ones let a little batter through. It was….ok. More difficult to use than simply making two single layers of different flavors and either using the inserts to cut the circles out, or 2 large circular cutters of different diameters to cut the center and rings out then swap around. (Even extremely well greased the rings tended to stick to the cake in the pan)

I think I saw one of these cakes in a James Bond film. The cake had a bomb inside!! It was so cool the way the waiter brought it out and presented it to James Bond.
I remember watching this commercial on late night / super early morning TV with my grandma and, surprisingly, we actually did end up getting one (and how I learned what a zip code was LOL; shout out to the sales person on the phone who asked me to give it to an adult). It was a long while later before we got it, but when I was old enough to do more than just help mix things in the kitchen, I got one for Christmas and I still have it to this day (albeit, its stored somewhere since I've moved a lot since then). We never had much of a chance to use it, so I never knew how well it *actually* worked, so it was super nice when YT randomly recommended this to me and we got to see how it worked in reality! In short: thank you for the trip down memory lane and for this video! :D It was really nice and those recipes sound super good!

Yessss finally, someone reviewing the Bake 'n Fill that actually knows how to bake !! I remember seeing the infomercial on TV as a kid and I always wondered if it actually works as intended. Now I kinda want one, for making birthday cakes for my daughter haha
Really enjoyed watching this program! You are a very knowledgeable baker and it was very fun hearing you talk about this process. My mother made a lemon meringue to die for!!!
You’re always fun to watch, but Omg, I LOVED this video so much! Yes, please do more of these. Love the vintage vibe and those pearls are everything girl! So, I have a cake pan, not an “as seen on tv” item, but it’s been in my family since Kennedy was in office. It’s a 3D lamb cake pan. Mine is made of heavy cast aluminum, two pieces with loops on either end. Every attempt I’ve made has been a disaster! Either It won’t release from the pan, ears get crispy or fall off, broken necks, won’t sit upright, is either underbaked or over baked and once decorated…well, it looks more like a Halloween nightmare than a happy little floof. If you’ve ever seen Charles Phoenix’s hilarious “Meatloaf of Lamb” video… it’s the same type of pan, except his is the lighter weight metal version. I’ve put him out to pasture for the last 10yrs, but he mocks me every time I open his cupboard. Help?
That's such fun! I bought one at an auction sale because no one else bid on it, and my mom and I liked collecting useless kitchen gadgets, just because they are so much fun. I haven't tried it, but now I really want to.
I got one of these for Christmas when they first came out. I once used the round pan to make a diaper cake filled with chocolate pudding. I still have it and use it occasionally.
I really like the idea of roasted strawberries! That sounds really good! I made a strawberry pound cake recipe by adapting a plain pound cake recipe. The original called for milk to be added alternatively with the dry mix. I traded the milk for pureed strawberries, and added lemon extract instead of vanilla. I've been requested to make this cake for two of my brothers when they got married.
I was shocked that this was from 2004. I was expecting WAY before that! I'm trying to decide whether this would be a marked improvement over my time tested method of using 2 pyrex bowls...
My dad bought that pan, and we still have it! I was so enthralled by it. I think we made a baseball cake for it once. I graduated with my AA in culinary arts this semester, and I was working as a pastry chef while finishing my last 2 semesters 😊
I love your videos so much! You are just funny and you should have your own talk show or something 😂 I made dinner rolls from Savory baking yesterday for our bbq party and my hubby said they were the best part of the whole thing, even though we had lot of amazing food at the table. In short: thank you for the trip down memory lane and for this video! :D It was really nice and those recipes sound super good!
I didnt intend to watch the whole video but it was just so nice and fun to watch! Also I just love seeing delicious cakes. I was surprised to see just how small your channel was, you seem like a pro who only just now got onto youtube. You're so fun and informative!
She’s been on RUclips for awhile, but on other large food channels, not her own. I’m glad she’s independent now 😊
It is great that you are reviewing these gimmicky products. I have not seen an ad except on line but I’d really love to know if the Williams Sonoma hand pie molds work. They come in such cute designs but I’m too afraid to try them and find out they don’t work.
Those cakes do look tasty!
I have no idea how to cook or bake but I stumbled upon your videos and I absolutely love watching you teach! You’re so easy to listen to and I love your personality. I doubt I ever make any of these creations but I enjoy watching you! You are getting more of time than true crime now a days and that’s a positive! 🤣 Ty for existing!
You got me on "roasted" strawberries, never heard of this! Definitely going to try.
I for one would love an episode deep diving into layer cake tips and tricks!!
I don’t watch these cooking videos, but the first few seconds started auto playing and I IMMEDIATELY had to watch. You’re so delightful
Hi Erin, everyone is right, you are rocking that vintage vibe. How about the checkerboard cake pan set next? I have those and have never used them. Give us some flavor combinations that sound delicious, please!
I just love all your videos. You’re so much fun and an amazing baker and excellent teacher. Thanks so much Erin💕
I had this pan! I absolutely loved it! I made lots of fun cakes with it.
Erin, I have been watching for a while although I don''t usually comment. I have learned a lot! I love how you alway take it to the next level. Thank you!💗
That was extremely entertaining, and lightning, and quite funny. I love your take on the “as seen on TV” look back at some of my own childhood memories of what was on TV at the time. I love your sense of humor. It’s quite refreshing and I’m looking forward to seeing more videos from you. Thank you so much..
So glad this got recommended to me. Quickly subscribed and looking forward to seeing more!
Erin this is the first video I have ever seen by you and I’m literally a huge fan. Your recipes seem solid, you’re funny, you have great ideas, your recipes seem easy to follow! You are awesome!
Fun baking video!
Wow beautiful production on this video, it was a joy to watch. Also ma'am the presenter, you stole my heart 💜
OMG - !! What a great idea!! I love the ole' timey commercial type video!! Loved watching you put your spin on the cakes. And I never heard about roasting strawberries, so win, win, win!!! Thanks. Keep this series going. Awesome idea!!
Erin you look so stinkin’ cute in that outfit! Thanks for all your amazing info, from a person who started baking before the internet was a thing and still can’t believe how lucky I am to have access to your videos❤️
Thanks for sharing. And gorgeous cakes 😊. I learned bit more
I love your videos! Just found this one. I’ll be watching all of them….. and more in the future.
Help?
Have you tried a bain Marie? Keep the ears temperate
OMG! I remember that pan!
😆👍
I really like the idea of roasted strawberries! That sounds really good! I made a strawberry pound cake recipe by adapting a plain pound cake recipe. The original called for milk to be added alternatively with the dry mix. I traded the milk for pureed strawberries, and added lemon extract instead of vanilla. I've been requested to make this cake for two of my brothers when they got married.
I was shocked that this was from 2004. I was expecting WAY before that! I'm trying to decide whether this would be a marked improvement over my time tested method of using 2 pyrex bowls...
I absolutely love your channel. I learn so much and it is still entertaining. What a great personality you have !
Erin Jeanne! You look sooo beautiful in the polka dot outfit!
I remember how much I wanted my mom to get me one of those 😂❤ filling a cake with ice cream was what sold me on the idea 😂
This came up in my recommendations and instantly subscribed, this was so fun to watch❤
Love this video!! 😀 So cool!!
Great mouthwatering video! You are not just a fabulous cook but entertain and teach as well.
We both love doing pies from Book on pie and call them pie projects and rate our results 😊
this video is so high quality, i'm shocked your channel isn't way bigger. this was really interesting, i've never heard of this cake pan before and your bakes look so nice!
Thanks so much! This channel is young / posting here is newer for me - so I appreciate your support! ❤
Bought this for my kid who liked baking. It worked
This is so great!! Cracking up at 0:17.
