Hi Julie, when you or your audience will be purchasing watercolor paper for you next stage of wc painting practice may i suggest Canson xl pads. They come in various sizes, Michaels stores sell them and if you use a online coupon you can save $ or watch for a sale. Its the best quality i have found for the price.
Ive been painting 30+ years and for many years used only Winsor & Newton student grade tube paints without problem. Yes the artist grade is a step up in quality but until you gain experience the student grade is fine. Let family and friends know you're learing to paint and maybe you'll get some gift cards for Christmas!

Beginners: A white plate works well for mixing, A white ice cube tray works well to hold various colors. Drying out is natural, you reactivated them with wet brush or lightly spray of wateron paints. A tiny bit goes a long way. ❤

I have seen paints like that and have them on my wish list. I think those and a cheap really lightweight cheap palate for mixing will be perfect in my backpack for hiking. We will see.
You do get a good number of colors in a compact container with the fan pallet.

The splatters at the bottom were to add movement to the feet. Like tiny music notes or maybe little sparks of joy. 😃
People seem to either like splatters or prefer to leave them off a painting. It is a matter of personal taste. In my opinion, too many splatters can be distracting. I try hard not to over do them.

We are having the same weather as you. Took my son and grand son on a walk yesterday. Neither wanted to go. 🤣😂🤣😂
Mom/Grandma insisted. Grandson in his wagon and son pulling it most of the way. The weather was too nice to just stay in. My daughter in law, due in August, was happy to sit on their deck for an hour while I had both boys in her life out of the house. 😃❤️. Rheumatoid Grandma needs to walk too.
