Poor, poor, poor supervision. The reason jails were changed from a linear structure (line...as in the old pre-1980s jails) is because inmate activity cannot be effectively managed from the outside. The reason pod jails were constructed is so that the detention officers can be "locked in" the pod with the inmates. The detention officers are supposed to be active, visible, and walk around the pod. Further, inmates are only supposed to be in their assigned rooms. As such, these meetings of multiple inmates in one room are supposed to be stopped, banned, and inmates that violate the rules (of being in your assigned room only) should be written up and locked down in their own cell all day (without a mat) and repeated violations of the rule of only being in your room should result in the inmate being in a pod with a day room to being sent to ADU (administrative detention unit...AKA lock down unit). A & E continually finds the worst run jails with the shittiest officers that are scared of their own shadow and the worst chain of command. - signed A Former Detention Officer

I get that womens prison is vastly different rules wise than the mens, but celebrating your release is a major do not do in front of other inmates. It's almost a somber feeling, you are excited inside for sure but you dont show that around the other people, you say your goodbyes and good lucks but you dont rub it in especially around guys looking at life or doing heavy numbers, you just pack your stuff and exit quietly.
