Wonderful story, and excellent narrating that perfectly suits the Noir feel of the story. Loved it.

I do declare! There are none of the world's dialects our talented Mr. Le Strange cannot tackle! He is FEARLESS.

Ahead of its time, eh Mr L'Estrange? Holt's voice is mesmerizing.

Yes, it seems a quietly radical story for 1919, I feel.

A new one to me ! Was reminded of Lovecraft's "From Beyond" with its look at the invisible around us . Always thought this was a cool concept....that we are barely separated , and powerless , from some , NORMALLY , imperceptible life .
Once again , I liked your yank accent . You can hardly tell it's you . Great stuff !
I do appreciate your uploads.....I am recovering from double fracture of pelvis so have lots of time to listen and finding a new channel with so much great material has been very welcome . 👍🎱👌

Double fractured pelvis sounds truly horrible, but glad to provide a soundtrack 😁 and, of course, wish you a speedy recovery!

Wow, double fracture of the pelvis; that's truly horrific. I have severe bursitis and arthritis in my hips, and sacro Iliac joint, and have to get cortisone shots in my hip joints, and I know how painful that is, especially when a storm is coming.I can't even imagine the level of pain you're in. I hope that you heal quickly and without complications; it must be dreadful for you.

That's how I feel about dust! When the sun shines in somewhere and you actually see it... just floating... all around... everywhere! 😂 Another splendid reading. You are very talented.

And when they talk about the microscopic spiders that live on all our faces... Some things aren't just better off unseen, they're better off not knowing about :D
Thanks for listening and commenting, Shell Bell.

Hi Gill! It's been a while since I read this one, but (from memory) the Blaisdell character has imbibed a poisoned cigar accidentally given to him by his friend Mark Jenkins (from the confiscated batch he mentioned at the start, in relation to Ralph Peeler's murder). The first hint that he is experiencing hallucinations comes when he starts to see the people in the low-rent neighbourhood in which he finds himself as somehow monstrous. Then he seeks refuge in Holt's exhibition place/laboratory and the educational slide projections of bacteria on the walls seem like a frighteningly real glimpse into an unseen world of monsters that coexists alongside ours. He wants to kill himself to escape this awful truth, but is prevented from doing so by Jenkins, arriving in the nick of time. They try to rationalise the whole experience as being hallucination, but for the trifling matter of the mad scientist Holt, who Jenkins "saw" and spoke with *before* even knowing what he looked like, and when he was already dead. So what was Holt? A ghost, or proof of this hidden universe? They find the opalescent membrane through which it was suggested the invisible world could be shown to them, but decide to destroy it...for their sanity, and the good of humankind. After all, what is unseen is unfeared.
