Great job! Love to see the steps of diy from the beginning on. We are living in great time, where you can afford a laser cutter and a 3d printer and can get creative like never before. 😊
Super cool project. Makes me want to buy a laser cutter for myself. One thing I would change though is the longest road card design. A 2-lane road does not feel right for the theme.
Must admit, the clicky baity title got me on this video. Great work! The roads and towns/cities could do with a bit of more 'pop' as it took me three rewatches of the show off bit to actually see them :D Rings for the superb looking number tokens - awesome, should come as a standard for all Catan boards. For the robber I bet you had different ideas of 2 piece standees that never quite looked right in the overall feeling of this board? And then just went with the unique (I must emphasize, the collectors value here) brilliant solution. Kudos for just leaving it as is with a face that says it all :D Awesome work on a single laser printer and £92 for materials alone is not that representative of value. Add creativity, time, electricity, etc.. You can boast to be the owner of one of the most expensive boards of Catan. I just hope you do not have a table flipping game with this board when that one person snaps when they dont get the winning wheat..
Did you use magnets for every hexagon? An idea I got was to have the six border pieces having a locking mechanism (jigsaw style or anything really). And since these are all wood then the borders would be pretty sturdy so shouldn't need anything else for the hexagons right? That way you also don't need a locking part on the hexagons themself. and there's just 6 border pieces so that's easy enough to lock into place every time you start, right?
Absolutely, I did add the magnets as originally I wasn’t going to have the edge pieces. But changed my mind right at the end. Now I have the edges the magnets are redundant. That’s the way the original game works too. However I kept them as it gives me options to make the bird different shapes as I want to play home brew rules.
@@RisingApe Yeah that makes a lot of sense. It was just the moment I saw that you also kept the boarders, that I thought of the idea that you wouldn't really need locking on the hexagons. But it looks great and nice to have some custom game styles to change things up now and then =)
Not that it isn't a cool board, but that click-baity video title didn't do you any favors. I like the board but I'm underwhelmed thanks to that title. I've seen much more beautiful custom Catan boards, including on RUclips.
I had so much fun making this! Go and check out the Kickstarter if you’re in the market for a laser!

That’s fair! Cool thing about doing your own versions on things is you can’t customise to your hearts content
Fun stuff. I got all the towns and roads and ships and stuff in plastic in my Settlers and the acomponing expantions (got all 4 expantions)
Thank you
I love Settlers and I love what you have done here! Great work.
Thanks 🙏
Nice board i would love a custom set myself it stands out nicely against the standard version :)
Thanks
Amazing video and the game components look incredible!
Thanks 🙏
Awesome work! Well done 😊

Haha, thanks for this, made my day!
Cool project! Question: those lasercut samples with the squares you used, are those available for download somewhere?
They are part of the lightburn software, under material settings in the menu. Thank you 🙏

Brilliant :D
Cheers
I thought it would cost double that amount!
It wasn’t that bad in the end, it did take a while though!!
Only a few years behind everyone else 😂😂😂
Catan hasn’t gone out of date 😂🥲

Ok, well I’m glad you thought it was cool at least.
waiting to hear from Algolaser. Does anyone know if they will ship this with a US plug?
Mine arrived without a UK plug but it was a simple kettle lead so a cheap add on that I already had around
