    Lovely condition mate, that engine looks mint. I have restored a GSX1400 over the winter to showroom condition and took it out last week and wow! These old muscle bikes are so nice to ride. I ended up putting a full system on her and sounds amazing out the twin pipes. Enjoy your bike.

    Gotta agree not riding in snow and ice, but I used to love riding in the fog. Slow right down and keep the visor open. Been a while since ive had a bike but the itch has returned.

    I have the 2014 model. Stock standard, but does have battery trickle charger attachment. I always attach bike to trickle charger when only riding once or twice a week. Never had starting problems and still on first battery (bought bike brand new).

    Nice video pal, your local to me funny watching the local roads on a RUclips video. I've had my xjr1300 now for 7 years and still love it, definitely a forever bike, I've had cogs changed to drop the revs and once you get used to 5 gears its all good 👍 loads of mid range power means its quite a lazy bike never having to search for power its just there. It does take a bit to start and you just need to keep up battery, it needs a good ride out too to put charge back into battery at least once a month 😉 maybe bump into you somewhere one day.

    We've just been looking at one of these. Wanted it for two-up riding and the odd motorway commute (40 miles, once or twice a week). The one we were looking at didn't have a screen or top box which were the only downsides as far as I could see. Looking at yours both are possible to fit. Nothing else in the price bracket really grabbed me. Might go back and see if I can get a test ride. Congrats, anyway. Great looking machine.

    • @Motourev
      @Motourev  2 года назад +1

      I think this bike would be perfect for what you want it for. Yes you'll have no problems having a rack and top box fitted and you will definitely be better off fitting a screen also. The difference it makes is incredible. Thanks for your comments and good luck 👍

    Looking good. I've just got a 2014 Honda CB1100, like you I love the big old nakeds, having spent years on big old Suzukis.
    Similar to the Yam, nice and basic just ABS, and could also do with that 6th gear. Pulls from 55kmh in top like a train.
    I'm also not a fan of heated grips, looking for some heated gloves for this year but going for the battery ones so I can swap between 2 bikes and use on push bike.

    Excellent review..Always thought that XJR's looked like they were chipped of granite, a real brute of a bike ! And I fully get what you said about, you bought the XJR for the sole reason "you wanted it" I've swapped many a bike with that reasoning. I test rode an XJR a few years ago very impressive..but i didn't think I would ever get used to reaching for that elusive 6th gear. So decided on a 1250 Bandit. Have you thought about a bigger front sprocket would lower revs at speed. I'm sure the torque that engine has it would manage comfortably. And nice to hear you've found your forever bike. Stay safe..👌👍

    • @victorway5503
      @victorway5503 2 года назад

      Thanks very much for your comments. Regards the lack of a 6th gear I don't think I'll ever change the sprocket. I'm assured that I'll get used to it then it won't any longer be an issue. Glad to hear people such as yourself also sometimes change their bike for no good reason other than they want something else they've spotted. Thought it was just me being stupid with money!! I own a 2014 Vstrom 1000 and it is fuel efficient enough. This one will drink a bit more I guess. What mileage you get on a full tank? I commute about 105 miles a day to work, also in bad weather. Unless it freezes and there is salt on the road, then I go by car.

      I haven't done much distance riding yet so don't really know what sort of mpg it will do then, I'll find out soon. Knocking around locally it's doing around 39 mpg so not great but hopefully much better on a good run
      Although there are far more fuel efficient bike's I really don't care because I love riding this bike and don't regret buying it for a minute!.

    In regards to the 5 speed gearbox, what sort of rpm do you sit at in 5th at motorway speeds/70mph? I've had two older 5 speed yamahas in the past but now I'm looking at an XJR over my ZZR600 for easier cruising. The zzr has a 6 speed but sits at about 5700rpm at 70mph, which gets tiresome pretty quickly.
