I liked this series pre-Covid, and now with prices going up, I'm even more invested in it. I would love to see Lidl.
Yes, Lidl is my go to as well, so that would be great! Not sure Lidl in the UK has the same stuff as Lidl in Finland, but the home brands ought to be the same.
Yes! Lidl edition needed for sure!
Not quite supermarket suggestion, but I think it would be really cool to see a video where you challenge yourself to make meals just from what you have in the pantry or in the freezer at the time. These items that can be stored longer are often cheaper than buying things for the fridge, and it's a myth that you need all fresh things to eat healthily!
I think you should do Breadmas instead of Vlogmas this year! Show us the bread!!
i so badly wanna know how alex made the bread!!!! looks amazing
Top tip! When your hummus is stuck at the bottom of the Vitamix, add a little water and make a creamy chick pea dressing for a salad. (Or just stand and eat it with a long spoon!) 😉
I love these meal idea videos, especially when paired with the supermarket videos! Thank you for all the effort you put in, it’s so appreciated.
Would love it if you could write on the screen each ingredient you're using when making a dish, would be super helping and such good inspo. Thanks Maddie! Would love an Asda budjet haul next xx
Would also be interesting prize-wise since I just roughly calculated how much the first meal would have cost me in Germany and just the Wonder-Chunks themselves would have been 3€ so let‘s say 2£ and with all the different veggies and fresh noodles it would have added up to at least 7€ so 3,50 p.P. And in Germany food is cheap compared to other countries in the EU, so its not like its just more expensive here in general
They are left out intentionally to encourage traffic to her website for the “full” recipe
For some reason it made me kinda nostalgic seeing your metal multiple-spices-tin in a video again :). Feel like we haven't seen this in a while but very often in your old videos. Was a nice touch somehow
Awww that’s so cute! I always use it!!
Came to ask for the bread recipe.....I am not alone. Love these videos. Thanks. Best regards from Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦.
Ooo I think a really good challenge would be to do a budget grocery shop in an expensive grocery store. A lot of people including myself live in towns that only have a couple of grocery stores and their prices are crazy expensive.
i doubt you'll see this but i just wanted to say thank you so much for this video, i'm a student and for the last two years i genuinely think i've checked your website and channel at least twice a week, your recipes are just so great and easy but also so tasty!! it's actually quite hard to find vegan recipes that are both affordable and don't include a ridiculous number of steps, so i appreciate your content so much. thank you for such wonderful videos :)
Would love to see this with tesco. We can never get everything we need from Aldi/Lidl, and they are too far away from us to then have to go to another supermarket as well. So we always do tesco as we can get everything we need but I feel like it’s definitely more expensive, so would love to see what you would recommend for a Tesco budget shop x
She already did it a while back: ruclips.net/video/7bwGoSSuhHE/видео.html
order online from tesco, go to each category, sort by vegan and lowest price first, I get 3-4 weeks of food for £120
These videos are so inspirational and really help people on a tight budget. It's brilliant to watch you shop as cheap as you can and then watch what food you make with your haul. So many people are living on really cheap processed food right now, as times are hard for many, , but you've just shown how we can shop and make fabulous meals on a budget. Thank you both x
This video got me so excited about moving in with my partner next year thinking about cooking and baking together 😍 You inspired me to cook for myself and become a vegetarian 4 years ago. I have been making a lot of bread alternatives lately because inflation is crazy in Hungary, where I live and literally a loaf of bread costs 3-5x as a kg of flour. I have been having so much fun with it, learning how to make a food that has been a main element of our diet, and the results are actually really great, especially knowing that it doesn't contain anything non-necessary, unhealthy additives etc.
I really enjoyed that thank you. It is easy to get into a rut with cooking and just making the same few recipes every week and you have encouraged me to expand my repertoire. Alex's bread looked amazing! A bread video would be fab x
Sorry I'm late watching this....but Maddie my word you are by far one of THE BEST youtubers, like the time, effort, money and thought gone into this is insane!!! Thank you
I love 🥰 budget meal vlogs especially during this increasing cost of living crisis. I love 😍 Marmite (yeast extract). Yummy 😋 vegan recipes Madeleine. Thanks for sharing this vlog and those fantastic recipes even though it's mainly Tesco & Lidl I shop at because they are the nearest supermarket's to me. Love 💕💞 Madeleine & Alex.
I love that you do stir frys like I do. Just sprinkle lots of different sauces in 😊
That pasta dish looked epic. I'd put nutritional yeast on top Yom yom
I love this video, with prices skyrocketing I find myself always looking for new cheap meal ideas
I love this, Maddie, you have definitely helped me expand my food choices! I surely appreciate the time and effort that goes into these videos! Xoxo from California
The GLUG of the olive oil jug.....YES. Love these recipes
I had never tried Soya milk before as I'd heard it didn't taste nice. But given the price of cows milk lately I decided to give it a go as you said in your previous video it's the cheapest milk alternative.... And I really liked it!!! Lesson learnt for sure
Yes soy milk (silk) is quite delicious. I had been drinking almond or oat milk but since I lift realized I needed higher protein milk so another reason going back to soy milk.
I really enjoy your videos for a few reasons. I like how simple they are, there's little ingredients and easy to follow recipes. The cost, the amount of 'budget' vegan what I eat in a days I click on and the start of the video their making a cup of tea with oatly milk, one of the most expensive on the market. Yours are genuinely budget meals for example using the own brand soya milks as i do too. Also I love the time you take to actually show and explain things. You have really helped with my vegan journey, so I am thankful for your videos. 👍
Favourite type of video to watch! Thanks Madeleine ❤. It would be great if you can do Tesco, Lidl, and Waitrose food shop in the future 😊! Btw, I’ve tried the roasted aubergine and hummus sandwich at a local bakery and they add homemade vegan pesto in it as well - it’s so tasty!!!
Loved this videos!
Would be nice to see if you have any of your groceries left after the week 😊
I'd love an asda budget shop as that's who I get my shopping delivered by, disabled so easy for me even though its getting more and more expensive x
It’s crazy to me how cheap groceries are over there compared to the US. I know salaries are a little lower though. Even if I convert what you spent to dollars and double it there’s no way I could buy similar products in the same amounts for less than $56.
I’m British and visited Cape Cod this summer and nearly cried at the prices! 5 dollars for some bagels, muffins for 7 dollars it’s more than triple the price!
It's because the UK is tiny compared to America and transportation of food and other products costs a fraction of what it costs in America. The interesting thing is food prices here are up by more than 50%, especially tinned products and oil. Everything used to be a lot cheaper.
@@HellenShort we do actually import the majority of our food but even then it comes from Europe so it’s not bad in comparison to American prices. I think the whole world is experiencing the food price increase at the minute, it seems the cheapest option is to be vegan or vegetarian with very little meat or dairy
Feeding 6 people at my house (plus snacks for teenagers and kids that come over to hang out with my kids) on about $200 U.S. dollars a week. So grateful for the budget and health inspiration!
I can't wait for you to continue making these 😍🥰❤️!! I love food videos!!
I really enjoy this kind of videos! Thank you😘
Have a nice weekend
Hi, new to your channel and only been vegan for three months. Loved this video as I have noticed lots of vegan recipes with very expensive ingredients sometimes hard to source. Great vlog ! X
Love discovering new channels, very happy your channel popped up and that I took the time to watch; I'm not even vegan! Fabulous recipes as well as budget friendly which I do appreciate! Great video, now a new subscriber from across the pond in Canada ♥
This was such a calming video. It definitely inspired me with quite a lot of ideas, and makes me feel comforted there are good options out there during this cost of living crisis.
i watched this today with my morning coffee ~my fave, also i’m definitely, making the bread as well, the hummus, and the pea soup. i already eat oats in the morning ❄️🍁🤎🎄🍂lové from sheboygan wisconsin
I bought a spatula specifically made for the Vitamix that helps get everything under the blade so much easier. Between that and a disposable glove, I always get my hummus out.
Everything looks great!
Loved this video! Maybe do lidl next as a good comparison to aldi since they're a similar brand. Id also like to see tesco and maybe compare the same shop with/without a clubcard?
I found the sandwiches at lunch really interesting too, I want to try the chickpea "tuna".
Just started watching but had to say I'm in the US and I love Aldi. I planted 2 apple trees this year and can't wait to eat apples everyday. Can't wait to see more meal ideas.
Thank you for sharing these recipes. will definitely be re creating them for my family. Omg the chick pea tuna. Haven’t had that in a couple of years!!!🎉 please may I ask which cooking pans you use the non stick ones (not the le creuset pots) and the pasta bowls? They look so lovely! Thank you x
So much recipe inspo thank youuu!
Thank you for this! Perfect timing and so much inspiration
Thank you so so so much Madeleine for sharing this vlog and I I really love this type of vlogs so so much you inspired me so so much and I wish you reach 600K Subscribers very very soon!💕💫😊
Hi guys if you add a teaspoon of wheat gluten it makes bread flour. Peace 🧚🏻♀️
Please share bread recipe! I have switched from using bread flour to plain flour for making pizza dough too and its so good. Really enjoyed this video- felt doable and simple (prob cos we shop at Aldi!) Appreciate things that dont take all day too as hard to fit cooking into a busy lifestyle at times.
Marmite lover here! Tried so many of your recipes and they are all scrummy. Thankyou so much xx
I literally never bake veggies for pasta because it seems like too much effort and extra time but I am sure I am missing out looking at the pasta dish you created - simple, packed with flavour and actually so efficient!
Big fan, watching for a few years now Love from India ❤
for hummus in the blender, you could thin the end of the blender contents out and make a salad dressing
I love these videos! I look forward to the next one. Thank you for sharing. ❤️☺️🤤
Very inspiring! I Loved the whole video! You are so genuine! Will definitely try baked veggies with pasta. Thanks for your efforts into these videos. They are my favourite 😍
I recently purchased a new immersion blender and it's awesome for making hummus! It's super super smooth. I blend it directly in a tall jar that I'll store it in.
You and I are so much alike in that I'm the one who handles all the business stuff in my husband does the household stuff does the laundry most of the cleaning etc works so well! I really love the style of this video and seeing all the quick meals. I used to be the same way I used to cook everything from scratch and make the meals had to be perfect! Now I do take a lot of shortcuts I still try to keep it really nutritional but quick easy is always good! Love getting new ideas from you!
Epic recipes Madeleine ♥️
Thanks Maddie this help give us ideas on what to eat in a pinch.❤
Can you link the form nutrition and powders/alternatives you mention, not listed in the description as promised. Which omega 3s do you recommend as well. Thanks
I'd definitely like to see more of these videos. Some great ideas, especially the pasta.
The end of homemade bread with butter - oh yes it's the best part 😍
Aldi in Germany definitely has Tofu, both natural and smoked, maybe the UK Aldi doesn't carry it (anymore)? I even bought vegan salmon slices there some weeks ago which I really liked on a slice of bread, so in case you see it there at some point I can recommend it!
nup, have never seen tofu in UK or Aus ALDI. Are you ALDI Nord or Süd? Outside Germany, they are the same as ALDI Süd, so if you are Nord then maybe that's why..?
@@welcomeback2mychannel yes, it's Aldi Nord so that could be it... So weird
What vegan butter do you recommend ? Thanks
Where did you get your spice box from? It looks amazing, and obviously makes adding in lots of spices easy.
Love, love, love these videos. Thank you! ❤️
Great video, thank you 😊
Lidl and Morrisons please (they're my locals) Lidl being preferable as its more budget friendly. They have tofu for sure ❤️
These chickpea tuna sandwiches 🤤🤤🤤🥰 I'm going to made it on monday, thank youuu!😇 and with abergine and mushrooms awwww😍🤩
I used to love watching these videos when you did them before. I’m so glad you started them up again.❤
Really enjoying these videos including the food shop
Great video thanks. Did you put the protein powder information? Our nearest supermarket is Tesco x
I love your Friday outfit, especially your burgundy overalls. They’re called overalls in the U.S. May I ask where you purchased them? Thank you.
Another great video. Pasta meals are so easy and comforting especially this time of year, and chilli and rice just perfection. All the bread looked amazing, but bread is a weakness for me 😂, it's just so good. But no butter for me, can't stand the stuff. Tescos is the best supermarket for vegan options, so maybe go tescos next time 👍
13:47 the way Alex turned his head and looked at Madeleine 😂
I love how it feels like I'm a guest in your house and we're having a chat every time I watch your videos. Is that just me? 😂
Great video, really enjoyed this one
Can you do Waitrose? 😂 I want to see the struggle 😅
Hi there, I know you're encouraging people's enthusiasm with sharing a video of Alex making his lovely bread but was hoping that could be available soon please, as I know all of us are very keen to see this yesterday, so don't want to wait until Vlogmas.
I understand you said you have it in your ebook, however as this is part of a budget video and many of us perhaps can't afford to buy the ebook now, could you provide the recipe and instructions just for Alex's bread please??
The last bits of hummus in the blender would make a great salad dressing just add your vinegar and oil and some spices and clean it out that way!!
What additional protein shake/powder do you use?
Very inspiring. Thank you, Maddy. 🙏🏼 ❤️
Great video, loved it thank you -Louise and Emily ❤
I’m with you on the Vitamix! It makes the best hummus but my gosh I hate scraping every last bit out from around that blade 😂
I love your kitchen!
Sainsbury please. Love these videos.
I was thinking your hair looks amazing!
I was thinking that the budget videos are helpful, but as a lot of the breakfast items weren’t included (oats, jam, butter) along with more expensive recipe additions (like tahini, chia seeds) it is hard to see £12 as representative of what the week cost. I get not including spices and salt/pepper but the other items would add up a lot and seem like important essentials to include in a weekly shop.
Oats were included! Chia is optional and jam, butter, salt and pepper is honestly nominal. I’m sure most of us aren’t stocking up our entire spice and condiment cupboards each week, but rather topping up what’s run out so it doesn’t make sense to add these to the costs
@@MadeleineOlivia ah I missed the oats in the last video then! What about things like the cream, tahini and cream spread?
I get not including spices etx, that makes sense. I just didn’t see the other more costly items included
If You cook Your own garbonzoz, and add a bit of baking soda to th boiling water, it makes th hummus sooooo smooth & fluffy
Yum, yum, yum. I need to try these recipes!
A lidl or asda would be fab!
Glad I found your channel. Love it.
LOVED the video!!!
I'm watching from Canada. I'm sure prices are very different, but I always love a good budget meal plan video. :-)
Ya really enjoy the recipes & shops! Would love to see Asda - M&S - & Morrisons - Would really like to see Alex show us how he does his bread recipe & give any tips - has he done a video? Do you still do your gardening too - ie fruit & veggies? Would love to see & hear if that's something you are both still interested in. See how everything grows - by season - that kind of thing - that would help people lots - what with the cost of everything going up - Thanks! x :)
Love ❤️ your channel 😊
I loved this video, really want to try the chickpea tuna now! I just have a totally unrelated question but... where is that gorgeous blue gingham dress from? I adore it! :D
Oh my goodness, your top at the beginning of the video is so gorgeous!
Please make a video including the bread recipe, I really need to learn to make a loaf like Alex! 👍🏼
Love the foodie vlogs.😋👏🏻
Great video! And I loooove the dressing gown. 😁
11:30 if you dislike the different texture of all the vegetables could you blend the vegetables with some tinned tomatoes to make a smoother sauce?
Would love to see a high protein budget video🤗
I can’t wait for a bread recipe. These meals all look delicious. The chickpea tuna omg yum
Looks absolutely amazing and I'm not a vegan, but will be trying some of these
There is nothing wrong with the night lighting, it looks cozy.
Loved the vlog and recipe ideas, I love marmite (best marketing strategy of any product 🤣) and Alex those loaves of bread looked divine - any chance of a bread making vlog?
I LOVE those BBQ Lentil crisps!!!!
Would love to see a video with the energy costs of the cooking incorporated into the meal prices :) for example, whether the oven cooking time for the bread negates the savings of buying a loaf. 🤞🏼
Your home is so beautiful. I wish I could live in England. 💕
