However in real life I saw Aretha and her sister do this song live at the Ambassador Hotel. in a ballroom w circular tables covered in white tablecloths Several African American couples brought along awesome leather cases that sat upon their tables & were mini bars that folded out that held bottles of various booze, glasses, stir sticks tc. All they ordered from waiters was ice. When the Franklin sisters sang "What is is, what it is, what it is" & Aretha sang the "Whooo-ooo" parts" I swear it felt like a fire engine drove by w full siren. Glasses shattered. I adore Jill Scott' version but there was nothing & never will be another Aretha Franklin. Amen y'all
