That's a noble idea. We still need to have more people onboard. The people on this platform is not even 1% of the luo population. So yeah, it's a good idea worth going forward with
Thanks for the information. Such corrections are highly appreciated and welcomed. Kindly share my videos widely with your friends and family. I need more luos here. Btw, I'll be back in Uganda this month.
Hi, am an alur from okoro, i like your video, a small story for da Luos, in 2007, i crashed my car at voi time was 8pm and got a serious musle pole, some guys came for resque and asked me what's your name? I told them am called Omega and they started crying thinking anything might happen to me, the same guys were luo, i requested them to take me to the doctor and they did so reaching da Indian doctors place he refused to talk to us thinking we are thiefs any way it was at 10pm, i requested them to take me hotel by then called voi tourist hotel, they dropped me to the hotel, the hotel manager started asking what's your name, i replied am called Omega luo from Uganda then he was like am also luo from Kenya, and i told him what happened to me, remember my car finished, i rolled twice, he was you intend to stay here for how many days? I told him 1week till i get better then will move back to Uganda, guess what, he called his staffs and told them, break, dinner bedding don't charge him, i will clear his bills, remember i had pain, i was full of joy, i remember praying for him all the time, when i got better, imargin at the Market mate luos and the guys who resque me, guess what? Given free items for nearly aweek, later moved back to Mombasa boarded Kenyan airway to ebb, i got better, after 2years, i went back to see the hotel manager at voi, i had left for some better job, tried his 4n and failed to connect, that's my small story, thanks to the Luos in kenya, i love you guys and luos at ugunja
Wow, what a marvelous story. Luos feel so much thrilled to meet other luos. I'm striving to create awareness among the luos. Not so many knew that there are other luos in other countries.
The history taught in school is very shallow and inaccurate. That’s why I take it as my own responsibility to create awareness based on accurate knowledge. Great 👌..am from Kenya, a place called UGENYA, MASIRO I have been to Uganda, Tororo and happened to meet our luo brothers known as Jo padhola,we managed to chat a lot. There is only a slight difference in our dialect, example (as luos from Kenya 🇰🇪) We call pig 🐖-( anguro) Padhola call pig - ogwang' Where as luos from Kenya (ogwang')is mongoose Luos are fantastic 😊 I just imagine having cultural events happening across all luos from East Africa just like the TESO of Uganda and KENYA always have similar events annually where there leaders come together, last time they were in AMAGORO Kenya and next season it will happen likewise in Uganda.. their king 👑 was known as EMOR MOR.. wonderful experience
As he said, yes there are elders who understand the history and spirituality and they are helpful. Unfortunately, I was running out of time and couldn't wait because I had to run to Interview Lang'o and Kumam in other locations far from Pakwach
I had no idea there was disunity among the Luo in Uganda, in Kenya we are very homogeneous and speak with one voice, culturally and politically. I'm concerned by the unrelenting efforts to dismantle Luo unity in Kenya, usually perpetrated by national leadership to weaken Luo hold on Kenyan politics
Very sad,it was ego of the brothers that caused the separation,I think wang le is the place the separation happened.would love to visit the place . Thank you for this video
It started with the missing Ancestral Spear inherited by Labongo which was irreplaceable then the missing magic bead given to nyipir by the mysterious lady who the keeper of the elephants which was irreplaceable also. It resulted into death of Labongo's daughter who was cut open in order to retrieve the bead.
In fact the whole the area from Karuma falls , the point of entry into northern uganda down the nile to pakwach is full of history of the Luo in terms of spiritual tradition . When ones goes to the Jopaluo then one will find out more.
In dholuo DIT means of medium size. Ruoth madit would mean middle level chief. Ruoth maduong' is the top Chief. Second wife is Nyachira. Third wife is Reru. The rest are Nyiudi ( plural). Nyarot ( singular).
@@KPtravels001dit is also big in Alur. Dwong means much. So Rwoth madit is the big chief. Pi madwong would be much water. Saying Rwoth madwong would sound weird for us and the Acoli too as far as I know
hello pk I am David and I also have a you tube channel David and Duncan we are talking about the similarities and differences between kalenjin and Luo people of Kenya
"iwacho nade" in dholuo is broken. The correct way is " iwacho nang'o" but I'm aware that the young these days the young say it that way. That doesn't make it correct though.
@@KPtravels001 correct. Luo of Kenya is the only one among other Luo dialects known as dholuo. The others talk of Lebluo or Lepluo. Meaning the tongue of the Luo. While in Kenya we talk of the mouth of the Luo( dholuo).
@@KPtravels001 my clan, the Kanyakwar is actually a Padhola( Kadhola) clan and not Alego as many Kenyan Luo have been misled for generations to believe.
@@KPtravels001 Hope to be one of the Uganda Lango tribe who will meet once your back. Please get more than one person per tribe to get actually good fact of dialect . I saw same people gambling with response as if they are not sure.
Whoever says that doesn't know the history of the Luo. Langi, by origin, aren't Luo where Luo is taken to mean descendants of Podho and Ramogi. They only speke the Luo language. They're our distant cousins. Lineage wise, they're closer to the Teso, the Karamoja, the Jie, the Masai and the Turkana. The family tree is like this: Kubanga(Ruhanga)(Luhanga), the first known ancestor of the Luo, sired KUKU. KUKU sired SINAKURU and DINKA. SINAKURU sired OKWAT LIELITUK, SULUK( SHILUK)( COLLO), PODHO(1) and ODONGO LANGO. The ancestor of the Langi is OKWAT LELITUK who's also the ancestor of the Maasai, the Teso, the Turkana etc. Odongo Lang'o sired Lengin whose descendants live in Kenya and Uganda and are known as the Kalenjin. The Luo people wherever they may be in Africa descend from PODHO(1).
@@bobbymeanie818 l get it. The Langi and the Luo are descended from the same man Sinakuru. Sinakuru had several sons. With the first wife he begat Okwat Lielituk ancestor of the Maasai, the Turkana, the Teso etc. With the 2nd wife he begat twins: Podho Koma aka Opiyo and Pok Bon aka Odongo. Podho is the direct ancestor of the Luo. Pok Bon is the direct ancestor of the Langi and the Kalenjin. So, although Langi doesn't directly belong to the Luo nation as it's known today, they're still one people with us. They're our brother. The language, Lepluo, Lebluo, Dheluo and Dholuo etc, therefore, belong to them too but not the direct bloodline. Source, written books some now out of print, oral history and personal research of many years. Don't know whether you had the honour to meet the renowned Luo novelist, Professor Okot P'bitek. In conversations of this nature, he'd always stress this point. His friend, Professor Taban Loliyong' from South Sudan is still alive. He recently launched a book in Kisumu town tracing the history of the Luo from our time in Egypt. Haven't got a hold of this yet, but based on my experience, I get its gist. I'll get a copy in next few days. So should you.

This sustains the project over time with employed local staff. So for each Luo group museum, cultural center, language center, computer center, business incubation center and office-share.Other local interests can be added based on context.e.g LUO-PADHOLA HISTORY MUSEUM,LUO-ALUR HISTORY MUSEUM etc.
And also build business incubation centers with rental office-share support local entrepreneurs in all these locations that you have visited. This sustains the project using local staff. In kenya think of kisumu, homabay, mbita, siaya etc special ancestral locations. Same with UG,TZ,CONGO etc.. There is one in kisumu(ruclips.net/video/JqlhJWV-kf4/видео.html).LUO THRIFT WAS oginga odinga vision for entrepreneurship and cultural empowerment. Chinese for instance have confucius centers to preseve their language history culture worldwide.US blacks have african american history museums etc.

Yeah, so many luo ethnic groups out there living separately. The steps to unite is underway though starting from here

I knew this. I just couldn't remember the second & third wives
First wife in luo is called mikayi
It is interesting that he says that the difference between lang'o and luo is only language.
Well, what do you think?
@@aduwopbarack1050 source?
@@bobbymeanie818 I can't immediately relate to this question as my wall access the reference.
