      He blatantly disrespected other world leaders, he constantly lied about “facts” that are EASILY disproven, he made reckless claims that have lead to such terrible civil unrest that a war may ignite against ourselves and he was recorded trying to hassle Georgia officials into creating 11,000 votes in his favor, so he wouldn’t lose. If anyone “cheated” in this election, it was him and he still lost. I will always be ashamed of voting for such a foul excuse for a president and while I absolutely can’t stand Joe Biden, he is still better than Donald Trump. Everyone knows Trump doesn’t drink and yet, he displayed the behavior and reasoning of a person that is drunk off their ass 24/7.

      What I believe he meant is that Fischer made many unpredictable moves/sacrifices in his life (the chessboard) which led to his untimely and rather tragic demise (checkmate).
      In essence, he made great moves in the opening and middlegame (beginning of his life) and very questionable and poor decisions in the endgame (mid-life to end of life) ultimately leading to a sorrowful checkmate (a sad death).
      In my opinion it's actually a very subtle and clever metaphor that makes perfect sense to the chess player.

    I'm a chess player and come at this from that perspective. As for the substance of what he says in this interview, he is actually rather cogent. He provides specific details and the arguments are logical, and his vocabulary is good. Some here have commented on his appearance. He could perhaps have trimmed his hair and beard a bit, but he really does not look much different than many men of his age. A 61 year old Bobby Fischer simply is not going to look like the 25 year old Bobby Fischer. I was actually expecting this interview to be more eccentric. (The only peculiar comment is at the very end when he says that the US is not a legitimate country. There is, however, something removed from the interview right before this statement.)

    • @tanler7953
      @tanler7953 4 года назад +2

      The idea that the US is not a legitimate country (and this applies to Canada, Australia and New Zealand, as well) is an ideological position long favored by indigenous activists. They claim that the sovereignty of those states is based on the Doctrine of Discovery, a precept originally developed by the Catholic Church, which allowed for the expropriation of territory of any non-Christian peoples. In the 1980s and 90s, activists reached out to other countries that had experienced a similar history of European colonial oppression (Africa, India), orchestrating a broad anti-western, anti-multinational corporation alliance. Since then, they've used various agencies in the United Nations to attack and condemn mistreatment by those governments in question. This has pretty much become standard fare for most left leaning university and other academic environments.

Even if he is technically correct in saying it was not founded legitimately, it has since become a legitimate country because people live and participate and continue it as so.

      It's just, you're comparing two very different things: nobody alive today has ever met anyone who knew someone who killed a native american during the "settling" of the US when England first landed.
      Whereas the second world war is very recent, so of course it's going to get a lot more attention, you know.
      Maybe I'm just misinformed since I don't know much about native american history, and if so I apologize, but I don't understand this fixation on "getting back" at people for something one has not directly or even indirectly experienced.
      Let me put it this way: Spain conquered Portugal, where I'm from, in the 17th century. You won't hear Portuguese people complaining that the spanish folks should kowtow to us for that war or anything similar...
