Kidult was written by s.couos when on hiatus,he said he wanted to make something hard for the main vocals (dk and seungkwan) and it was a Total Banger they ate

That's so funny that he knows how talented they are and that they crave being challenged. Leader material shining through. lol

Kidult is writtern by Scoups and it's about your inner child being in your adult life. OUR LITTLE PRINCESS BSIDE 🥳🥰

Oh my gosh! That's literally how I live my life, catering to my inner child while functioning the best I can as an adult. I love S.Coups so freaking much.

you would enjoy the Fearless performance! no need to make a video about it (unless you want to) but i rly think youre gonna appreciate it. it has an epic concept to it (not quite pirate-esque) but it has that going-into-battle vibe. its kinda like "Fearless walked, so Super could run"

I LOVE this description of Fearless! If I don't get to it in the next few months please remind me in future comments!!!

It's very interesting that you were sayingt how the guitar/instrumentals from Kidult and Together reminded you of Fearless. Fearless is actually a continuation to Fear (which was the title track of the previous album An Ode) and there a lot of references/connections between both songs!
My My has an MV which could be why it was requested a lot, and if I remember correctly S coups participated in writing Kidult when he was in hiatus because of mental health (I might be incorrect since I wasn't a carat then yet so don’t quote me on this pls) but I do remember watching an interview where he said he purposedly wrote Kidult to challenge the vocal line and it’s one of carat's favorite b-sides, I think it's a fantasy for a lot of us to be able to see them perform it live one day

I still can't believe that's Hoshi! Talented kings for real. Thank you so much for your comment. :)

Left and Right definitely sticks out from this album, probably because of the style and the instrumentals used were not as similar as the other songs. 2020 was when the retro trend was booming for kpop, and I guess “Left and Right” (alongside Home;Run) was Seventeen’s take on the trend except LnR took the hiphop route. You would also probably hear its similarity with BSS’s Fighting. It was revealed recently that Fighting was done around the same time as Left and Right, so sonically, it’s probably the closest to it.
Either way, Henggarae is one of their most coherent albums in terms of concept and storytelling. Henggarae is the act of carrying and throwing a person upwards as a sign of accomplishment, victory, etc., similar to how they threw Hoshi upwards in the MV of LnR. At the same time, the album tells the story of their youth, hence the subtitle: Journey of Youth.
It starts off with Fearless, trying to break away, Left & Right, deviating from the confines and limits of choices, I Wish, hoping and dreaming (though it takes on a youthful love approach), My My, choosing your own path and journey, Kidult, validating your worries and struggles, and Together, holding your hands to run together.
They’ve always done youthful concepts before, but Henggarae’s storytelling was on another level. Seventeen usually does their album also in relation to the season. Henggarae was released during the summer, so it’s not a coincidence that you felt the summer vibe in this song. Be it a summer dawn, sunrise, morning, noon, afternoon, sunset, or night, I personally think it captured the season very well. All the songs were refreshing and comforting, Kidult was probably the most intense in terms of emotions, but it’s because it is a song you play to cry your heart out during the night.
Anyway, my favorites in this album are Kidult and My My. Kidult is such a comforting assurance to our kid side while My My is a song that makes me feel proud of what Seventeen has reached. I also love Left and Right, its MV is probably my favorite among all of their MVs just because it was camp but still inspiring. Its substance was what a lot of people needed during the pandemic.

I love it when you do your laundry. I wish I could help you. Then I could fold while you dance. I get to do mine tomorrow. 🤗
Kidult is one of my favorites. I didn't really appreciate it fully until I read the lyrics. Thanks for reacting and dancing and sharing your life with me.
PS You really don't have a hammer? 🤨

hahaha We could take turns dancing and folding for sure! So...I do have a hammer, but my dad's a mechanic and takes it to work with him so I couldn't find one on my own...to this day it's still not hung up. -_- one day...lmao
