You will probably bond with your chickens more. You can bond with ducks but it can be difficult. You can realy bond with a goose. My aunt had a goose that followed her like a dog and she "knocked" on the door every morning for some rolled oats. A goose will protect your ducks and actually herd them. So consider a goose or geese. Good luck in whatever you choose to do. It sounds so exciting to be decorating, living on your own, and getting whatever kinds of animals you choose. Keep us updated. Back years ago we found a litter of puppy's in a field. They were so cute and so tiny. We thought somebody had dropped the entire litter off and just kept the mom. I had them about a week and 1 day they started fighting each other really bad and trying to kill each other literally. It was 6 of them total. They were around 4 weeks old is what my Vet told me when I took them in for shots, now keep in mind i was working for this Vet at the time.. He laughed so hard at me and said "Wendy leave it to you to steal coyote pups from their mom" We called a wildlife sanctuary and they came and got them. I thought they were normal pups😂😂🤣
Around 30yrs ago I took a dog from an homeless man who was beating it and instead of water he was giving her alcohol to drink. I had to put her through detox with the vet. She had a habit of jumping in people's cars if the door was open. 5yrs later we was walking and she jumped in a builders van as I was trying to get her out the builder appeared and he said that's my dog! We chatted and I discovered that he had 2 jack russels and 1 had been stolen (mine) even stranger after me just saying random names waiting for a reaction the name I chose was actually her original name. She died at 16 and I had her for 13 of those years ❤

We have a couple of "pre-owned" cats - one was from a neighbor - they just left the big fella behind and he charmed my youngest daughter to take him in - he is turning 16 this year have had him for 13. The other was my husband's niece's kitten that she let run around in the road (busy road) so my husband "stole" the kitten. She turns 7 lol

Welsh Harlequin ducks are meat and egg birds. They can lay about 240-330 eggs per year. The eggs do not taste gamey like some of the other duck breeds - for example, Pekin is a meat bird that lays gamey, stringy eggs. The Welshes eggs are great poached, scrambled, baked, etc just like a chicken egg. If your pen is large enough then they do not stink like chickens do. They do not need to constantly have a pool but do require a deep enough water source to cover their nostrils. That is how they swallow their food. We use a small bowl that is mounted to the side of the fence that has a float valve in it so it stays full. Lime is a good way to keep the pen smelling better as well help with bugs. You can order ducklings or hatch them. Kalmbach feed is amazing. Just be sure ducklings have enough Niacin growing up. Good quality feed should take care of that. Enjoy! Ducks are fun!!
You will have to build a predator proof enclosure for both chickens and ducks. That enclosure will have to include the top. Do not use chicken wire, use black powdered coated 1/4 or 1/2 in hardware cloth that extends at least 2 feet beyond the enclosure at ground level. This will keep predators from digging under the enclosure.
When my dog first went to live with my parents she escaped when the gate was left open. She went to the closest park and was her normal, sweet, goofy self to everyone. The family that caught her said if she didn't have a collar with a tag they would have kept her. Honestly wasn't really surprised, she adored people. We'd take her doggy play groups, and she'd have no idea how to deal with the dogs but would cozy up to all the people 😂. Lily was fantastic.
For testing paint color, get 8x10 Canvas Boards. That way you can take your swatches from room to room and see what it looks like at different times of day.
We have a handful of chickens. We use to have Khaki Campbell ducks. Loved the ducks! If you get one baby goose and raise them with the baby chickens, they will protect the flock.

I would think about adding a natural vitamin e supplement like Emcelle or the powder from bulk supplements. If they’re deficient, that could be a game changer, and I have my grey on it year round. You could also do panel tests from their mane to see if there’s any minerals or vitamins they’re missing. Even with complete feeds, it’s so easy especially if there’s iron in your water. Flax Seed from Triple Crown is another really good one. Chock full of Omega 3’s and good for things from inflammation to sparse coats or itchy skin.
Ducks are amazing for eggs. I have a lot of people who buy my duck eggs because they have allergies to chicken eggs. Duck eggs are also more rich. So you only use about one duck egg in a recipe that you would use two chicken eggs in. Ducks like to make their nests on the ground, and they also sleep on the ground. I recommend Welsh harlequins! They are beautiful ducks, and they are very sweet and amazing layers. My ducks actually lay more than my chickens. I think about 250 to 300 eggs a year
I have a blue heeler that I rescued as an itty bitty pup. The mama and her whole litter were left in a box on the side of the road. Best dog on the planet! Also My German rottie used to live on a farm about half an hour away. The family supposedly moved away and left her behind. A friend of my best friend found her trying to cross some train tracks and she ended up getting homed with a few people before she ended up with me. Sometimes dogs end up with the family they need to be with ❤️❤️❤️
She can get a Cricket! (The mini golf carts - they're big at barrel horse shows- easily fit in horse trailers- take up one horse spot in a slant load). 😉😉

It will be beautiful. And also, she could find plenty of chicken decor. I see way more chicken decor to buy my son and his wife than I do rooster stuff because they are chicken farmers. And yes, it is stinky!
We raise ducks and breed them, I'd be more than happy to share some knowledge with Abigail if you are interested! I will say, avoid hatcheries and tractor supply stock, they are notorious for disease and mislabeling breeds or selling mixes as pure bred. 13:42 I live in New Jersey in a very well known shore town OCEAN CITY and it gets soo busy here in the summer that driving sucks so a lot of people have golf carts lol and some are electronic and others has I believe.. it’s funny and cool because parking is a lot of money so you can get into tight free spots with the carts lol
We had two ducks when I was little,you can get great eggs our ducks provided alot of eggs for our family family. Thought we did have evil chickens too. I loved Donald and Daisy they were my girls they followed me everywhere. Mon the Scots!
I'm a freak about plastic bottles of any kind! I use the same bottle and rinse it out for a whole week and then pitch it to recycle if possible. Just refill it from a 2 liter. I also cut the plastic rings on 6 packs to keep the critters from getting hung up in them!
I had a friend who had 2 ducks that didnt go in the water but loved to sleep in the trees so that might be a thought. They hung out all over the yard and the trees. Dont know if they are called wood ducks but they dont need water if your really worried about snapping turtles.
There are so many renter friendly peel n stick papers now that Abigail can have her yellow cabinets without damaging anything. I predict in the future there may be a new mini barn being built given how close the 2 properties are lol

Abigail my Rottweiler loves ducks and chickens. She is very gentle with them. So it can be done. I didn’t teach her this either. The only thing I can possibly think of is she loves water and I would take her to ponds where there were ducks.
You absolutely can get duck eggs, they're fantastic and are lighter/fluffier than chicken eggs! Different breeds of ducks lay different amount and colors of eggs! If you get chickens you should look into Polish they're awesome birds.
I have to say that having lived in a yellow kitchen, the neutral cabinets are the way to go. You absolutely do get tired of it, and if you can't change it easily, you come to hate it.

My great Pyrenees is miserable every summer in TN. There are livestock Guardian dogs with shorter hair.

I did butter cream yellow in my kitchen, it's a happy color, and not overwhelming.

We had two ducks when I was little,you can get great eggs our ducks provided alot of eggs for our family family. Thought we did have evil chickens too. I loved Donald and Daisy they were my girls they followed me everywhere. Mon the Scots!

I'm a freak about plastic bottles of any kind! I use the same bottle and rinse it out for a whole week and then pitch it to recycle if possible. Just refill it from a 2 liter. I also cut the plastic rings on 6 packs to keep the critters from getting hung up in them!
I had a friend who had 2 ducks that didnt go in the water but loved to sleep in the trees so that might be a thought. They hung out all over the yard and the trees. Dont know if they are called wood ducks but they dont need water if your really worried about snapping turtles.

There are so many renter friendly peel n stick papers now that Abigail can have her yellow cabinets without damaging anything. I predict in the future there may be a new mini barn being built given how close the 2 properties are lol
I have a Cayuga duck, Silver Appleyard and a Magpie duck. All three are very lovable ❤

I've had 2 canary yellow kitchens with black and white checkered floor.
Abigail my Rottweiler loves ducks and chickens. She is very gentle with them. So it can be done. I didn’t teach her this either. The only thing I can possibly think of is she loves water and I would take her to ponds where there were ducks.
You absolutely can get duck eggs, they're fantastic and are lighter/fluffier than chicken eggs! Different breeds of ducks lay different amount and colors of eggs! If you get chickens you should look into Polish they're awesome birds.

I have to say that having lived in a yellow kitchen, the neutral cabinets are the way to go. You absolutely do get tired of it, and if you can't change it easily, you come to hate it.
