@Silinio1 Yes because you was not there. I have this experience in 2018. Many people had the same experience like me in 2018. Been to London many times and never had bad experiences there. I feel more safe in London than in Madrid. in 2022 someone stole from my girlfriend luggage before she got it again. Alot of crimes in Madrid. Madrid is also on the list over most crime cities in Europe. We meet guy at the police station in Madrid and his passport got stolen

London is an awesome city but Spain and particular Madrid is as safe as it gets. I am sorry you had a bad experience but it is definitely not a reflection of the reality. If you don't believe me please feel free to check stats on crime rates and how it compares. The major problem you can have in Spain is pickpocketers but even then it is not that high

That's the reasoning of why the people exploded, but Spain is tired of mass (96 million tourist projected for 2024 in a country of 47 million people), cheap (average spending of a bit less of 600€ per tourist) tourism that comes to get wasted in our streets. It is just too many people for very few money. Holiday rentals just boosted that model and added the long-term rental prices problem

We have 30 million tourists a year in London, no issue, so we don't get it-12% of Spain's GDP is tourists; if the tourists went home, the economy would collapse, and there would be no money to build housing! Spain is similar to the UK in the sense there is a housing crisis, but that's solved by building more houses, not kicking people out, etc. I have family in Barcelona as well, & I agree 100%.
ive lived in spain for 10 years now close to marbella and have always found the spanish allright with me. i go to madrid for my holidays maybe 2 or 3 times a year and have never really had any anti english problems there. i think spain has to come out of the eu and do what barcelona is doing, make it so there is no more air b and b,s for tourists just hostels and hotels.

I enjoy all your videos but I always find i enjoy them that little bit more when you guys are genuinely there enjoying the festivals rather than going into it in all out review mode. Its bound to impact your experience when your hitting it as critics rather than just throwing yourself into the vibe. Its always good to see the review side of things still but you guys definitely should go into each one how you did with this one. Fun should be priority and come first and the reviews second. The reason I became hooked on your channels and videos is because it was fun to watch the friendship all you guys have between you. The different characteristics each of you have and the banter. Watching you all have a blast and take the piss out of each other while living life is the glue behind your success in my opinion. The reviews and going in as heavy critics should definitely stay in the back seat.

Have they not thought that through? 12% of the population work in tourism, imagine suddenly 12% of the population extra are unemployed, and GDP goes down massively without the tourism. Great video. I'd only vaguely heard of this festival before but I'm now far too old and knackered to be doing these types of festivals anymore so always interesting to see what Spanish festivals are like. I only did Low Festival in 2012 which was fine though the heat is a huge problem if you're not used to it. I'm sorry to see you guys getting some of the backlash over tourists. I get exactly why people are pissed off as although tourists do bring in money, there's a point where they become an issue. Especially when holiday lets end up pushing up rents and house prices so locals can no longer live there & that's happening in the UK in places like Edinburgh, Bristol. & a lot of cities and small towns across the country. It's not something that has a simple solution. As for Rob's drinking, if your body is telling you something, then listen to it. Some of the best times of my life were when I was drunk & I'd not swap them for anything in the world, but I also had some shocking times & I'm 100% sure some of the health issues I developed decades later were down to drinking. Also, what you're able to drink in your 20s affects you differently in your 30s and by the time you hit your 40s & older. Anyhow, thanks for making Sunday evening fun!

I agree entirely with MK about the rudeness of Spanish. I was there recently on a holiday, was super polite, and often met with disgruntled responses. Not to say everyone was like this, but it was pretty often!
i think the spanish can be a bit rude and grumpy anyway. this whole anti british thing will die down when the spanish realise they need the british for the money they bring to spain.

From the respect and affection of a Spanish subscriber, i would like to comment a couple of things: 1) Regarding the comments that everything was in Spanish. The festival takes place in Spain, where the official language is Spanish. You cannot expect that everyone knows and speaks English, which is a problem that all Anglo-Saxons have. MadCool is also a festival that hardly has an international projection, unlike the FIB or Primavera Sound where the majority of attendees are foreigners. Personally, I can speak 3 languages fluently, but I cannot expect to go to a concert or festival in England or Germany or wherever and want them to respond in Spanish if I speak to them in Spanish. With cell phones it is easy to look and know at least 4 or 5 key words to be able to communicate in case the person you are talking to does not understand English. 2) About the slogan "Tourist Go Home". This is not aimed at all the tourists who visit us, but rather it is aimed at the so-called "drunken tourism", mostly young people who come to our country only to get drunk, to fight, to destroy street furniture and to jump from balconies of the hotels to the swimming pools, often killing themselves in the attempt. I have said it many times but I will repeat it again: you have to come to Primavera Sound that takes place in my city, Barcelona. You don't have to camp, but unlike MadCool, the concerts start at 3:30 p.m. and end around 5 a.m. Good organization, good weather (normally it's not so hot when Primavera Sound is held), a lot of variety of styles on the lineup, good food... I think you'd have a great time. You just have to be careful with pickpockets, and unfortunately there are many in Barcelona. Much Love!

the fact that a small number of spaniards have been unwelcoming (though we havent seen the interactions in the video) to them hardly excuse your generalization here. It’s true that there has been a growing aversion to tourism in Spain lately, but this primarily occurs in over-touristed areas along the coast. This is because the tourism, particularly from the UK, is causing more problems than benefits due to the overcrowding, which drives up living costs, and the type of tourism, which often involves heavy drinking and disruptive behavior. If you watch videos from places like Barcelona, Benidorm, or Magaluf, you’ll understand perfectly why the locals end up so frustrated and why tourism in those areas isn’t worth it, either in terms of work or economically. However, encountering hostility towards tourists in Madrid is very rare because the type of tourism here is not massive and tends to be more cultural and family-oriented. If the girl felt she was treated poorly, I believe it’s more likely due to a stroke of bad luck or other unrelated reasons. I’m genuinely sorry she had that experience, and I hope you give Madrid another chance because you seem like kind and respectful people. I recommend visiting at a more relaxed time and avoiding the summer, as the heat can be unbearable and seriously affect any outdoor plans. And by the way, congratulations on the video! It’s very entertaining, and you can tell a lot of work went into it.

Regarding your question from 27:43 to 28:10. It impacted the video positively. I enjoy all your videos but I always find i enjoy them that little bit more when you guys are genuinely there enjoying the festivals rather than going into it in all out review mode. Its bound to impact your experience when your hitting it as critics rather than just throwing yourself into the vibe. Its always good to see the review side of things still but you guys definitely should go into each one how you did with this one. Fun should be priority and come first and the reviews second. The reason I became hooked on your channels and videos is because it was fun to watch the friendship all you guys have between you. The different characteristics each of you have and the banter. Watching you all have a blast and take the piss out of each other while living life is the glue behind your success in my opinion. The reviews and going in as heavy critics should definitely stay in the back seat.

The thing about tourism is that many places in Spain people who work at jobs concerning tourism can't afford and find places to live and call home. Rent prices have gone off the roof

Have they not thought that through? 12% of the population work in tourism, imagine suddenly 12% of the population extra are unemployed, and GDP goes down massively without the tourism. You're looking at an economic catastrophe.

Great video. I'd only vaguely heard of this festival before but I'm now far too old and knackered to be doing these types of festivals anymore so always interesting to see what Spanish festivals are like. I only did Low Festival in 2012 which was fine though the heat is a huge problem if you're not used to it.
I'm sorry to see you guys getting some of the backlash over tourists. I get exactly why people are pissed off as although tourists do bring in money, there's a point where they become an issue. Especially when holiday lets end up pushing up rents and house prices so locals can no longer live there & that's happening in the UK in places like Edinburgh, Bristol. & a lot of cities and small towns across the country. It's not something that has a simple solution.
As for Rob's drinking, if your body is telling you something, then listen to it. Some of the best times of my life were when I was drunk & I'd not swap them for anything in the world, but I also had some shocking times & I'm 100% sure some of the health issues I developed decades later were down to drinking. Also, what you're able to drink in your 20s affects you differently in your 30s and by the time you hit your 40s & older.

I agree entirely with MK about the rudeness of Spanish. I was there recently on a holiday, was super polite, and often met with disgruntled responses. Not to say everyone was like this, but it was pretty often!
i think the spanish can be a bit rude and grumpy anyway. this whole anti british thing will die down when the spanish realise they need the british for the money they bring to spain.

From the respect and affection of a Spanish subscriber, i would like to comment a couple of things:
1) Regarding the comments that everything was in Spanish. The festival takes place in Spain, where the official language is Spanish. You cannot expect that everyone knows and speaks English, which is a problem that all Anglo-Saxons have. MadCool is also a festival that hardly has an international projection, unlike the FIB or Primavera Sound where the majority of attendees are foreigners. Personally, I can speak 3 languages fluently, but I cannot expect to go to a concert or festival in England or Germany or wherever and want them to respond in Spanish if I speak to them in Spanish. With cell phones it is easy to look and know at least 4 or 5 key words to be able to communicate in case the person you are talking to does not understand English.
2) About the slogan "Tourist Go Home". This is not aimed at all the tourists who visit us, but rather it is aimed at the so-called "drunken tourism", mostly young people who come to our country only to get drunk, to fight, to destroy street furniture and to jump from balconies of the hotels to the swimming pools, often killing themselves in the attempt.
I have said it many times but I will repeat it again: you have to come to Primavera Sound that takes place in my city, Barcelona. You don't have to camp, but unlike MadCool, the concerts start at 3:30 p.m. and end around 5 a.m. Good organization, good weather (normally it's not so hot when Primavera Sound is held), a lot of variety of styles on the lineup, good food... I think you'd have a great time. You just have to be careful with pickpockets, and unfortunately there are many in Barcelona.

Look at the protests going on in Barcelona over tourism and airbnbs. I stumbled upon your video by chance, and as a lifelong Madrid resident, I couldn’t resist leaving a comment, especially regarding the girl’s constant complaints about how she was treated. It’s true that there has been a growing aversion to tourism in Spain lately, but this primarily occurs in over-touristed areas along the coast. This is because the tourism, particularly from the UK, is causing more problems than benefits due to the overcrowding, which drives up living costs, and the type of tourism, which often involves heavy drinking and disruptive behavior. If you watch videos from places like Barcelona, Benidorm, or Magaluf, you’ll understand perfectly why the locals end up so frustrated and why tourism in those areas isn’t worth it, either in terms of work or economically.
However, encountering hostility towards tourists in Madrid is very rare because the type of tourism here is not massive and tends to be more cultural and family-oriented. If the girl felt she was treated poorly, I believe it’s more likely due to a stroke of bad luck or other unrelated reasons. I’m genuinely sorry she had that experience, and I hope you give Madrid another chance because you seem like kind and respectful people. I recommend visiting at a more relaxed time and avoiding the summer, as the heat can be unbearable and seriously affect any outdoor plans.
And by the way, congratulations on the video! It’s very entertaining, and you can tell a lot of work went into it.
