C.L.R. James was an underrated academic and Political activist a man of great intellect into his old age I had the pleasure to meet him when i did a project on him as a 3rd year degree student he could talk at length on many subjects.
Truly a Renaissance man of the 20th Century, who managed to be at home with Shakespeare and Marxism .

An enthralling and enervating interview which gave a rich and penetrating insight into contemporary Trinidadian society and which also showed the European nature of the structure of the West Indian.

Have to love CLR. A man of vision. Also, clearly a utilitarian man. Check out his bookshelf of planks and bricks. No time for nonsense.

I heard CLR talk during the 1970s (in the USA) when I was in my late teens. I was astounded by his knowledge, his eloquence and his revolutionary passion

I thought being a poet, I shouldn't read to be influenced by the writers I read...but now I realize it is life and death. Writing and Reading mutually benefit.

I think CLR is or was a romantic, who was also a sensitive and deeply analytical person. R.I.P.

Politicians are a unique breed of 'compromising' humans. Dr. CLR James is uncompromising intellectually and is a theorist; Dr. Williams was a politician, practical yet also intellectual.
