Thank you! My late husband had a Kirby distributorship/repair shop and I was spoiled because he always kept our machines in top shape. I hated to bring it in for this simple repair, so figured I'd try it myself with your easy instructions. Wasn't too bad at all, even for a gal who has never worked on a Kirby! :)
Sir, you have saved my life. While I was vacuuming. The little footpedal piece fell put, and spend 2 hours trying to figure out the flipping mechanism. Thanks to me finding this video I was able to fix the vaccum before my mom got home, and also made it run better. Thank you sir, for saving me a beating from my mom
Welcome, if good people don't help other good people, who will ? ..(no one) ... So we have to do the gospel of the Savior Jesus Christ... its the "only" gospel, that unites, and promotes peace, NOT WAR !..... smile !

I don't know, Kirby should have it on their website, I think the G5 & G6 maybe" the same part exactly ? I don't recall any small metal piece on tip, but if you fill "very lightly" as the video mentions a "race or groove" you can fashion out of a small lockwasher a "clip" of sorts and squeeze it on with pliers to insure the paddle controller (D for Drive & N for neutral) won't come loose again (as the video shows) Be sure to get it all exactly right b4 putting clip on, actuate the D and N b4 400 and observe the right & left motion of the gear shifting as shown in vid. Cheers !
Thank you very much. I appreciate the attention to detail. 😊
Thank you. It made a confusing fix easy.
Thank you for making this video. Our G6 neutral/drive pedal just fell out today. Your video was a huge help for me to make the repair!

There is a slotted area on the left side, you didn't mention
Hmmm.... probably didn't impact the fix so I didn't call it out. InventPeaceNotWar !
What is the part# to that drive paddle? I lost the the small metal piece that attached to tip of the shaft.

Try a used kirby g5, or g6, for parts. I saw a guy with 3 kirby's at a flea market last week. InventPeaceNotWar
