This time the main character (Emma) was wrong. When it got too serious. Emma freaked out. It wasn't love for Emma. Just a romantic illusion world. And those are the dangerous kind. Someone will get hurt.
Erm. Really? I felt Lena was clingy from the start and became very needy when her marriage fell apart. You can’t build a relationship on that. There were so many red flags. The idea that Emma might need to go at a different pace (a not uncommon issue in early relationships) was unacceptable to Lena. If these were real people, I’d say that Lena’s reaction to Emma trying to slow things down suggests that it really wasn’t love on Lena’s part, either. Lena is a mess, and her willingness to go back to her husband rather than try and stand on her own two feet is a huge red flag. She seems to be idealizing Emma to give herself a way out of her marriage. Emma was right. It’s also more respectful of Lena’s children who would never have accepted Emma under these circumstances. Lena needed to go sort herself out before she’s capable of a healthy relationship.

Emma should've been clear; that she wasn't looking for a serious relationship. In another espidoe , no spoiler It shows who was honest. And who wanted to play. But you need to have the foundations to begin with e.g. mutual respect, shared core values, and being able to communicate authentically with your partner/s. Some things are deal breakers. Knowing these things about ourselves prior to entering into relationships would save a lot of heartache, and, in some cases, lives.
I’d also wonder if it had just been a fantasy if the other woman who professed to love me was willing to go right back to her husband rather than face being alone or face taking our relationship at a slower pace.
