I don't know what game you're playing, but I found it just fine. I thought the high contrast colors helped to distinguish characters and enemies from their backgrounds, and while the gameplay was a little repetitive by the end, the stage design doesn't even let it come close to being thoughtless.
One of the... key words there. This game was awesome, and believe me I've played a lot of games, it was good for being an indie platformer which I usually don't like. But it was amazing how the gameplay was so good and fun, but also made you feel depressed and guilty about it at the same time, never really being sure about the morals of what you were doing.
Hotline Miami was really good, looking forward to the sequel more than any other game this year (maybe even more than the PS4), as well as any future games from Dennaton.
Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. YES. I LOVE "Hotline Miami". I was not expecting news of a sequel so soon. SO EXCITED. Loved both dudes' shirts by the way. And I totally agree with Max's statement: The game is, after a fashion, like Punk Rock.
Whenever they decide to move onto something else, I hope they include a level editor. Would make it a nice game to keep coming back to and mess around with making levels.
You could also point to a game similar in difficulty (although not really in style) Swat 4 has 8 player co-op and near instant deaths even if you wear the heaviest armour in the game.
I would hope the sequel's enemies would be more responsive when it comes to gun fire and not be so trigger happy when they're unaware there is even a threat in their presence but apparently not.
If it was the 8th game in a franchise that was made by a multi-million dollar company, I would agree with you. But it's the second game made by an independent developer. When Hotline Miami ended, all I thought was "I want more levels", and I'm sure I'm not alone in that.
Really surprised today with the announcement of Hotline Miami 2. Great to see that the team is still focused on arcade like gameplay. Also anyone who asks @1:55 Perturbator - Sexualizer (Feat. Flash Arnold)
I think it should be a law that people own two monitors for PC gaming. One for High-Rez games and one for Low-Rez games. Now I don't play games on a large screen, but on my 17" laptop this game looks great.
the point of the story your missing is the hospital scene and before it... when jacket head explodes after he gets shot before the hospital scene the way his head explodes is the EXACT way biker slaughtered him in the phone booth
I agree on the music when your playing the game, but as music on it's own just to listen too on your phone/mp3 player/whatever a lot of does not hold up very well.
Hope they fix the the dying animations so they don't soak up bullets when you are trying to shoot their buddies. Made some spots impossible, especially with the body guard types
No that's not why, it was an enjoyable, challenging and fun game to play that was different from most games out now, it's not really a stealth game, it doesn't have too much gore and i played it fullscreen for hours and i was fine, it just depends on the person
Do you think they fixed the issue with the windows? I never noticed where windows were placed until the baddies had shot me through them, which is fucking annoying.
At E3 last week, Max got a chance to see (and, mercifully, HEAR) Hotline Miami 2: WRONG NUMBER First Look and Gameplay! E3 2013 (Sorta)
damn, the hotline miami guys really know how to do it.
hotline miami is probably in my top 5 games of all time. i love it soo much
Hotline Miami on PS VITA is glorious, wrong number is one of my most anticipated game on 2014

"Airstream trailer in a Hooters parking lot" Can't get more awesome than this
New levels and a new soundtrack is more than enough to buy this gem.
What is needed: Multiplayer!
The developer is drinkin that Tecate beer! Love that stuff.
Hell yes. The first game was an awesome celebration of over the top violence and pulse pounding difficulty. Can't wait for this.
These guys are awesome, really friendly to the people that love their games, and really have their mind's set on making games the people will love.
Hotline Miami, even after all it's accolades from last year was still the most criminally underrated game of last year.
Funny you should mention that: according to the @HotlineMiami Twitter account, the PSN / Vita version is "probably" coming out next week! -Nick
Yeah, credit to you Max for climbing into a trailer with this guy.
I am so excited for HLM2; not only for the game, but for the soundtrack also.
I don't know what game you're playing, but I found it just fine. I thought the high contrast colors helped to distinguish characters and enemies from their backgrounds, and while the gameplay was a little repetitive by the end, the stage design doesn't even let it come close to being thoughtless.
Awesome! I had no idea a sequel was in the works.
Max should be leading rev games, a true hero.
Hype can't even describe what im feeling for Hotline Miami 2.
Best E3 booth ever.
I only just recently played Hotline Miami and its amazing, can't wait!
That storyline sounds amazing
Best Soundtrack Ever!
Oh, and the guy who made Hotline Miami looks like someone who should be in the game himself.
*Perfect* explanation of the Call of Duty series.
haven't completed the first one yet, but damn douse the soundtrack get you inn the mood when you play it.
Hotline Miami was really good, looking forward to the sequel more than any other game this year (maybe even more than the PS4), as well as any future games from Dennaton.
And none of the team at Devolver Digital could be happier to say goodbye to you.
Looks like jurrasic park for gameboy with the addition of blood.

Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. YES. I LOVE "Hotline Miami". I was not expecting news of a sequel so soon. SO EXCITED. Loved both dudes' shirts by the way. And I totally agree with Max's statement: The game is, after a fashion, like Punk Rock.
If they did a top-down tactical military shooter in the same vein as Taken and Commando that would be so AWESOME!!! Please let this happen!
Whenever they decide to move onto something else, I hope they include a level editor. Would make it a nice game to keep coming back to and mess around with making levels.
You could also point to a game similar in difficulty (although not really in style)
Swat 4 has 8 player co-op and near instant deaths even if you wear the heaviest armour in the game.
It's actually the artist, cactus just looks like a regular guy from what I've seen.
Hotline Miami 1 is on PSN right now. Get it!
combos, recklessness is rewarded, etc.
cant wait just because I saw this im about to play hotline Miami
I watched this in 144p. It just felt right.
I would hope the sequel's enemies would be more responsive when it comes to gun fire and not be so trigger happy when they're unaware there is even a threat in their presence but apparently not.
I was late too the party of Hotline Miami 1.... Got it yesterday, It was the greatest product you can spend $10 bucks on....
HLM was one of the best games I've ever played. And since HLM2 is the last one, we want a map editor so it can last forever!
I guess I'm replaying Hotline Miami.
going out of his way to not be able to show his interview anywhere but youtube
If it was the 8th game in a franchise that was made by a multi-million dollar company, I would agree with you. But it's the second game made by an independent developer. When Hotline Miami ended, all I thought was "I want more levels", and I'm sure I'm not alone in that.
We'll didn't expect this... neato
I hope this one has a level editor, not that I'm not going to buy it either way.
that would be really cool if you let player make maps the self life of your game increases. just look at portal 2
wow are you reading my mind lol, cause thats exactly what i want.
I hope it's for ps4, not that I have a ps4 or would buy it if it was on ps4
Yoooooo Sonic Battle!
Oh! I'm hearing more music from Perturbator! Awesome!
The song playing in the background around the 4 minute mark needs to be in the game.
I really hope they'll consider adding a level editor. That scene where they drag the guy off the couch and kill him was fucking brutal, btw.
Really surprised today with the announcement of Hotline Miami 2. Great to see that the team is still focused on arcade like gameplay.
Also anyone who asks @1:55
Perturbator - Sexualizer (Feat. Flash Arnold)
Gotta pre-order this one.
Its on there right now. I just downloaded it.
Oh god I want this game so hard.
I think it should be a law that people own two monitors for PC gaming. One for High-Rez games and one for Low-Rez games.
Now I don't play games on a large screen, but on my 17" laptop this game looks great.
I cant wait. i hope this one also comes to the Vita.
YES, I found the man Jesse Cox was talking about on the TGS podcast.
Played the first one on Vita; would love the sequel to reach Vita. I'd buy it day one.
the point of the story your missing is the hospital scene and before it... when jacket head explodes after he gets shot before the hospital scene the way his head explodes is the EXACT way biker slaughtered him in the phone booth
Did I mention the strobe lights that make the game nigh-unplayable in fullscreen?
Lol his sarcasm went way over your head.
So excited for this :D
the janitors were designed after the developers.
I want a survival co-op in this game!
It's called Beams by Tape
I agree on the music when your playing the game, but as music on it's own just to listen too on your phone/mp3 player/whatever a lot of does not hold up very well.
Haha drinking tecate in a trailer in a hooters parking lot. Classy stuff guys.
I got it free with ps+ and I love it
I didn't know Depeche Mode made this game? They rock!
Watch "Pulp Fiction" and "Reservoir Dogs". They will give you a similar feel.
Cant wait for this game !!!!
never knew who the designer or anyone else on the team looks like. And now ive seen the designer, i wouldnt have it any other way.
Hope they fix the the dying animations so they don't soak up bullets when you are trying to shoot their buddies. Made some spots impossible, especially with the body guard types

I don't think they announced any console release yet. I guess they might do another Playstation release if the first one does well. We can only hope!
man, I wish I could do this in gamemaker too
AH, okay, so that event is what PUT Jacket in the hospital and therefore all that stuff did happen. Thanks for clarifying, slipped my mind I guess!
I meant 10 player co-op actually.
I wonder will this come out for the PS3 on the same day as the PC ?
There was a gun lock on in the first one.
I hope this gets released on GameCube!
Did anybody else see the drive easter egg in hotline miami in the 3rd chapter? The drive jacket is on the floor...

i just hope it has multyplayer + map editor + steam workshop
awesome interview and super excited for the game, but you guys have to tell me the track that comes on around 3:30
All I need to be happy, is the sequel to come to Vita.
I hope there might be like a co op thing or soothing
taking the gears of war approach on gameplay...like it..simple why fix what aint broken
Because the Janitors were modeled after the game developers. :p
This guy is awsome.
