I did this kind of care for my granddaughter. My only training was having nurses and my daughter teach me what to do. I was so honored to be able to care for her giving her my best. I do recommend family members get their degrees if they can and get paid to be their loved one's nurse. It's a win win situation. Go Abby! You daughter is definately blessed to have such good parents and siblings.
Nurse Abby your an awesome mom /nurse. You are such a a special soul to have gone to nursing school and making all that work on top of caring for Raelynn and your family God Bless 🙏❤❤
Hello you are awesome mother and nurse ! I just graduated and start my private care job next week with a 10 month old i’m praying i’m this compassionate and do my job effectively
You are gonna love it! 1:1 care lets you really get to know your patient and provide the best care possible. And a little 10month old! Sounds like it could be a very wonderful job!
I’m a mom of a medically fragile child & we have a nurse shortage here in TX. We also don’t get paid to care for our child before age 18. Great job mom!
In uk you can get carers allowance I don't know how much it is now but I started caring for mum in 1995 I believe it was about £85 then it went up slowly over years un6il when mum died in 2014 it was £116 a week I'd do it again to have mum back but it was exhausting physically and mentally I'd no idea at thatbpoint that i was severly mentally ill with bpd and GAD and proble autism I now wonder how I coped for 20 years even though you're a nurse its your daughter so it's stressful and whatever happens down line, be aware I'm not complaining about the caring I did gor mum I'd do it again , but this time I'd think about me and ask for more help regardless I niw along with physical and mental health isdues I'm fifty butvi feel like I'm seventy does rayelin have any sedatives dhe can' take eith seizures I know I take promethazine, which as a nurse raylens mum will know that is actually a antihistamine I can also take a prn dose if I'm having meltdown another hbig trigger us shopping firms etc not doing job right I start shouting on phone crying banging carpet then I'm ill for a few days
Working for a pediatric home care company and also paying the same company to come care for my g tube baby for hours overlapped between me and dad working. Gotta love Texas
I'm glad I'm not the only one who has noticed their kiddo has less seizures during viral illness 😂 it's so weird but sick days are often seizure free days here!! I was so glad you shared that!
I just found your channel just wondering what she had going on with her I hope I am not being rude I am so glad we are friends i am so glad i found yall in my life i love you all so much 🟣🟣🟣🟣🟣🟣
I was wondering how you keep up with having a good supply of the medical supplies, prescriptions, diapers, food for tube feedings, etc. I'm taking care of my frail elderly mother, and one of the challenges is keeping everything stocked she needs. How do you handle this?
Hello Nurse Abby! So happy you’ve finally completed your RN journey 👏🏽! I have a question due to also starting ABSN at Elmhurst soon. Do you recommend getting the textbook bundle offered or were you able to find another avenue to get the ebooks / textbook? They are very expensive. I found 2 additional book on Amazon way cheaper using the last edition. I’m just hoping I’m able to get the books somewhere else. Or are the books really necessary and I have to pay the $800 for them ?
I rarely used any of the books. Get them cheap if you can, but I mostly just watched videos on RUclips, and it was much more effective for me (the Simple Nursing channel is GREAT).
No, she won't grow much more. Since she needed spine surgery, they also gave her growth attenuation hormones to so that she wouldn't have problems after the surgery.
How boxes of gloves do you get a month? Does your home health agency supply gloves?? Also I saw you got extra larges and you don't look like you use extra larges
If you don’t mind, could you share how you were able to get nursing care for your daughter? I know that requirements are different for each state (I’m in Alabama), but I am currently trying to figure out how I may qualify for nursing since hiring Personal Care Attendants are not an option for me due to the severity of my health. I have quad spastic CP, a feeding tube, seizure disorder, severe asthma and medical equipment and so much more going on. It is a to advocate for nursing. Not to mention my caregiver passed away in October. If you have an advice I would appreciate it.
You might want to look at the state of Alabama Independent living waiver program. Ask someone who helps people with that if you would be eligible for it or a similar program.
Abby Chris and Raelynn I emailed my teacher at my local career school that i am at to see if i can go back to their LPN program. my current program is a 1 year program for adults with different abilities. but i hope to go to another program offered post my 1 year program that helps gain skills for employment. so i will keep you posted if you want to know if i can and was accepted to LPN school. the career center prepares the student to take NCLEX PN i am doing what you did just i am the brother of agency's client not Parent hoping to join his case after all my schooling and both NCLEX PN/RN RN's are more ideal for the type of care my brother gets we have had LPN'S but they needed RN oversight where as a RN can be more independent on another note i keep joking that the OBN (Ohio Board of Nursing) should give parents RN licenses if they do everything already then some
This is the new g-j tube system that we switched to in the last year. It's supposed to make it more clear which port is which, as well as prevent accidental med/food spills due to how syringes and food bags connect (twist on).

As soon as something's running low, and sometimes before then, you try to reorder. Finding a place to keep it all is another story.
For every feed do you use a new bag or do you use them a couple times before throwing them out?
We use one bag per day, which we need to refill once in the evening for overnight.

I bet that Ibuprofen helped. That many seizures in such a short amount of time would give me a headache and sore muscles!
Im a new nurse and just accepted a pediatric home health position and im scared to death but its my dream to work with children as a nurse.
Congrats! You can do it!
Poor raelynb hope she feels better
Hi nurse Abby I hope you are doing well I’m doing well to love your videos
Great video thanks mom
I like your message
That's the same in any job...... Which is shortage of staff but all you got to do is work with a SMILE ON YOUR FACE😀😀😀😀🤩
18:53 I love your videos And I think raelynn is really really cute!!!!!!!!!!❤
hi Raylnn i miss seeing you !
Why did you heat up the water w/ some of her meds ? Just curious. Love seeing raelynn
The meds dissolve faster in warm water.
Cool heath n nurse video 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
You are a good mom
Guys will Raelynn grow much more? Love her smiles
No, she won't grow much more. Since she needed spine surgery, they also gave her growth attenuation hormones to so that she wouldn't have problems after the surgery.
Good morning ❤😘
@NurseAbby how’s Raelynn doing?
👍
How boxes of gloves do you get a month? Does your home health agency supply gloves?? Also I saw you got extra larges and you don't look like you use extra larges
We get them as needed, not a set amount per month. We have a variety of sizes as needed for myself, my husband, and our other nurses
@@NurseAbby is their a way I can message to discuss a personal topic?
No, I don't do that

Did her 😅oxygen from finally go up ?
Yes

Yeah, there is a great shortage right now. Hoping my videos help encourage people to go into this field 🙏
I live in bonne, terre Missouri. Iam going to try mail her thing I made her ethaier this month or January 2024😊
Why does Raelynn Use different feeding extensions set?

THE TRAGIC LIFE OF KATHY THUREEN
Hope you're doing ok 🙏
Hey Abby im just curious has she gained weight and maybe thats why shes having more seziures? Im just curious.
She hasn't significantly gained weight lately, no
If i was just lying in bed in the same position i would get seizures as well. She hasnt got a lovely bath she would feel much better.
I wish it were always that easy. Raelynn's seizures aren't that predictable
Can she get off dairy ? Maybe causing issues???
But you sitting there talking instead of doing your job
There is a lot of downtime during a nurse's 16 hour shift.
