I live in Sitka and have stayed at the Lighthouse several times over the years. My husband and I even spent our wedding night there. Its a beautiful, peaceful place to stay! And yes, landing on the Sitka runway has always been an adventure, especially before the runway was extended😂 But the Alaska Airlines pilots are world class and manage it with ease. Thanks for a unique look at Sitka through your lens!
The big blowing rock event was pretty wild. I was doing daily flights this last winter and had a storm and tide combine to start leaving rocks up on the 29 end while we were back taxiing.

Great video. Thanks for taking us to Sitka and for describing what that 'black hole' nighttime approach into Sitka looks like. I've flown into and out of Juneau, Ketchikan, and Anchorage (and maybe ANC isn't all that dramatic) but haven't been to Sitka. I really need to go there...
Sitka by the sea - although I spent much more time in Juneau, I had a girlfriend in Sitka. Loved spending time there -remember many hours in Totem park. Also remember being stuck there with over flights (ha). I may have shared this before but I was in Sitka the weekend St. Helens blew. On the flight from SIT-SEA (stretch’27) the captain came on the PA to inform us Canadian ATC gave us permission to do a 360 over the northern tip of Vancouver Island so that we could see what they saw. It looked like a nuclear bomb had gone off to our south. Thanks for reviving the memories.

Really like the Alaska trips... makes me want to head up there again. Did you end up getting some popcorn 🍿in KTN? I remember it being a famous thing from the milk run video.

Lots of factors go into choosing to commute for sure! I have a fairly short commute with several options a day so “generally” not an issue. Weather, off season schedules, seniority position all plays a part!👨✈️

I love the PNW and lived in Anchorage, Alaska in the early 2000s. Miss it everyday.

Great video, enjoyed it! Sitka is an awesome town, we enjoyed dining at the BEAK restaurant there along with coffee from the Highlander.

Loved the video and a trip to Sitka. I will look through my photos of the Sitka marina and see if there are sail boats.
I spotted 4 in Sitka, 2019. Many more in Juneau.
I have definitely seen them in the marina, just not a regatta as show in the sim🤣
