This interview feels like a meeting between a legend-in-the-making and a legendary teacher. Among many similarities, they both recognize that they share the gift of empathy. Olivia always pays homage to artists, like Alanis, who vividly and honestly express raw emotions that are vulnerable and real, and Alanis keenly pays respect to Olivia's "stream-of-consciousness" and "multi-flavored style" that provides layers of depth to Olivia's songs. We witness both Olivia's youthful questions and yearning for more knowledge and Alanis' wide and ranging perspective from her experiences of life as an artist (and mother), ending with appropriate advice for a "sensitive soul." A timeless exchange!

Alanis is so wise & introspective, she reminds me of a sage...Olivia is humble & perceptive especially for her age, I think they bounce off each other's thoughts & emotions extremely well, which is incredible for a 1st-time meeting. I am so glad they paired these two because when Olivia first came out with her song, I thought of Alanis immediately. Their trajectory is really similar. They are both brilliant songwriters, debuted when they were young, and hit stardom very quickly. I hope Olivia’s career goes in the same direction as Alanis. Her music is timeless, but with the internet , it should be interesting to see where Olivia goes from here.

Alanis just hits the nail on the head with her lyrics. It is almost as if she is reading minds or saying things on how may we feel, but she just knows how to get it out perfectly. I live in Ottawa and wish I would run into her, but then again, I would probably get so excited and stunned and then pass out.❤ I have been an Alanis fan since You Can't Do That On Television.

Grunge and pop rock lyrics in the late 80s and early 90s were just filled with way so much angst that newcomers could only try expressing now or just left to wonder where the heck that kind of grief comes from. There are even mainstream songs that talk about unaliving themselves, then actually unaliving in their sorrow. The fans back then were not shocked, but deeply saddened, and learned from the songwriters' agony.
Those kinds of songs can be banned nowadays because ---

Best interview ever. I love you ❤ Alanis n I love you❤ Olivia ...I have seen Alanis in concert. But not Olivia. But I would love to. Olivia should be the opening band for Alanis. Can you imagine?! Two future ICONS?!😁 Love you💖 Both. You're simply the absolute best.

In my brain "you oughta know" and "good for you" are a constan remix, and a few months back i thought about this in the shower: how they were so young at their debut, both women that got criticized a lot and how honest, crude, powerful and girly their lyrics were, i thought of how gald i was to have had Alaniss raise me (in a way) and how now, i got to listen to Olivia which is somehow the logical daughter of what Alaniss -and other women before her- had done with music. Whoever thought of this particular interview, i hope you are getting nicely paid!
