I think it really depends on your personality. But for me Latin is also a lot more technically difficult, because I’m not that fluid with hip/body action and rotations, which are super important. I think because standard comes more naturally to me and I just feel emotionally connected to the music with my soul and body when dancing, it is more appealing and hence my favorite style. I also feel like latin is just not “me” per say. But I do find it super fun either way! That’s why I now dance it not as seriously as standard, and just for my own experience and exposure to the various styles. I also like to challenge myself and that offers me a different challenge than standard. As for partners, it is definitely difficult. But there are tips I have that could help. Never tried smooth, but international standard is my absolute favorite!! I’m dancing champ level now and the routines are amAZIng!! I definitely want to try out smooth in the future though, it looks like so much fun:)
