Salernes is a beautiful village but we notice a big difference with years ago. Not many people and many shops or bars are closed. On the terrace we asked for coke, ice tea or other drinks but there was none so he came with a special American drink. Romy, Claire and I were curious. Ice water with lots of mint, lime and a bag of sugar. But at least he came up with something. We are going to another village this evening and are already curious what the evening will bring.

Sounds like a mojito with no alcohol. Mint juleps are delicious in the summer too. It's lemonade with mint over ice. I like using honey instead of granulated sugar. Thanks for sharing these videos of the markets and scenery there. It makes me feel like I am on vacation, which hasn't happened in a very long time.

Are they responding to covid times there? Or what? Do you have any idea. I just came up with spoke cider vinegar with strawberry spread ( I don't keep sugar around but am given lots of the spread) and vinegar for digestion. It tastes like a colonial Quaker drink called Raspberry vinegar used for celebrations in the mid 1700's here in Pennsylvania.

The daily beer tasting featuring Fred is really fun! He does so much behind the scenes for the channel,it is nice seeing him loosen up and have fun too! Also loved Claire’s dress - tasteful and pretty for summer!
Hi Eveline! Fred is the star today! He’s a good sport for allowing you to show him sleeping! This crazy beer tasting is perfect! He must have a stomach of steel, especially for the octopus. Maybe the beer helped? Lou and Coco are healthy eaters, but I think even they were hesitating a bit on this one! I am proud that Loulou did not try to steal Coco’s food.! The village tour was perfect! The pealing of the church bell, colorful markets, and winding cobblestone streets are so charming! This video had travel, funny cultural moments with the family, and the doggies’ antics! (You can see that this video perked me up because I just finished a 7 hour mandatory, boring Zoom workshop today.)

What a wonderful trip you’ve allowed us to join vicariously. The girls are growing into beautiful young ladies and Claire’s dress is so beautiful-she has quite the fashion flair. Fred is such a hoot-a real keeper. You gave a beautiful family and those baby dachshunds-are they just the best greeters when you come home. I love that.

Easy to know which dog is Loulou (aka the shark) when he gives them saucisson 😊 . As for finding empty streets, the South of France is really hot and people usually stay at home (napping) in the afternoon. Then they go out at night and have diner around 8 pm and later. Love your videos ! The beer tasting is so funny.

Glad you're having a good holiday, Fred and Eveline (and girls). I just got back from my Covid Retreat down the river where I had a few cold ones and a pj. I sat under a maple tree and watched the great blue herons fish. That's about the extent of my holiday; but hey, you've got to fight for your right to party, eh. We all shine on . . . 😎

Village looked so nice but like you said very quiet. I loved the necklace Claire bought so pretty. I also liked the orange shoes someone was wearing. I love it when the pups greet you after a day out without them it's like you've been away for days. Fred keep beer tasting my husband is looking on line for a few you have been drinking. Xx

It’s scary what is going on in the world now days. We have been waiting on a car part for over six months. Cannot find lawnmower blades. There is groceries at the store but not everything you would want and everything is so expensive. And I believe it does not have to be. The people that run everything are making bad decisions.
But you videos are so much fun. Love watching them. Fred is just too funny and the girls are so sweet and beautiful. You are a lucky woman to have such a wonderful family and they are lucky to have you. Tell Fred Cheers from Louisiana USA. 🥰🤣

Another nice day. Did the pandemic affect the village. Sad to see. Even in the US many of our businesses have shut down. Its hard to understand but we hope life will get better. Fred is so much fun to watch as he tries the different beers. And eats his octopus. You are all so sweet. Looking forward to tomorrows video.
So terribly sad to see what has happened to beautiful Salernes. Many fond memories. It is indeed a ghost town. I hope its not another victim of Air B&B.
I'm pretty old and I can remember summers on the Greek islands, all across the Agean teemed with locals and a passionate culture. The same sad story. Also Italy and in particular the Mezzo just deserted town after town. Now its happened in France..
Where is everyone? Look to the nearest hideous sprawling mega city.
They are all literally mad. I'd kill to own any one of those roadside properties.

Tastes change and what we all wanted for our vacations in the past is no longer in fashion so these beautiful houses stay empty and the nearby villages and towns also suffer as nobody remains even overnight...they are all on the way to the newest "must-see" and "must -stay place and the old, comfortable and truly lovely places begin to disappear. It's always been like that but that does not make it better or even slightly more attractive.

I like Fred's beer tastings. My husband and his friends do the same. I recognized the Lagunitas from a few videos ago, as we drink it a lot when in California.

I like watching when Fred test different beer brewerage. 🍺 Although I was a bit disappointed to see Fred giving the dogs food at the table. I never give my dog food at the table bcus I don't want him to learn to beging at the table. 🤨
