Great pickup, Isaac! 🙏 You're right - I've even seen a gold version of the CA-53W at my local store! There's actually a SURPRISING variety of Casio Calculator watches issued in the past, each with different model numbers, slight differences in appearance, and functionality. So, I doubt each of these celebrities wore the EXACT CA-53W model 😉
Michael J. Fox also wore the earlier but almost identical looking model versions of this watch in the sitcom “Family Ties” from around late Season Two into Season Six (such as the Casio CA-50 or Casio CA-51 or Casio CS-83). You see him start wearing the Casio CA-53W around the final Season Seven. In Season One into early Season Two it looks like he wore the earlier model Casio CA-80 or Casio CA-70 that had the whiter keypad as the CA-50 didn't come out into around 1984. The show ran from 1982-1989. If you search out RUclips clips of “Family Ties” you'll come across many clips of him as his "Alex P. Keaton" character wearing this watch as a unique match to his outgoing but Ronald Regan era conservative suit/tie/formal persona as he was supposed to be an economic and math student but also not a nerdy or shy type either in that show which was neat. He also wears it throughout the “Family Ties Vacation” movie that came out in 1985. It's almost the only style watch he ever wore throughout the series. The Casio CA-53W was used in BTTF Part II and III. BTTF Part I he wore the Casio CA-50 which had a slightly different wrist band strap, and the calculator symbols on the watch were a bright blue instead of the darker red found on the CA-53W, and I believe the CA-50 wasn't water resistant. CA-50 was discontinued and no longer sold after around 1986 or so being replaced with the almost identical but now water resistant Casio CA-53W around early 1988, which is probably why he wore that version in Part II and III and the last season of “Family Ties.” Casio had a variety of almost identical but still slightly looking different models of the CA-5X throughout the 1980’s as it was a popular calculator watch. I liked the Casio CA-50 better only because I liked the bright blue calculator symbols over the harder to see red color symbols they went with for the CA-53W, but that’s about it. The CA-53W is a great and iconic watch.

Some people may challenge me on this, but Michael J. Fox was more known for his Alex P. Keaton role before and after his Marty McFly role into BTTF Part II & III came out after Family Ties had closed out their series in May, 1989. "Family Ties" has kind of faded out of popularity since the early 2000's while BTTF to this day is still seen as like the ultimate Sci-Fi time travel film from the 1980’s. The Casio calculator watches were very popular in the 1980’s into the mid 1990’s. Most interesting is that back in the mid-1980's the Casio Calculator and Databank model watches were marketed just as much to adult’s as to younger people. The TV commercial or magazine image was that sophisticated looking Wall Street or Business type of guy in his suit with his CA-50/53W or DBC-60 on his wrist using it for business related purposes. Anyhow as for the CA-53W even Timex had an almost knock off version of the CA-50/53W. When I was in Junior High back in the early 1990’s my math teacher at the time would always tell the class to take off and put their watches away before a math test, then she would walk the room to make sure no one was using their calculator watches hehe. Calculator watches of the 1982-1995 era are like what Smart Watches are in the 2020's.

It's an issue everyone has probably faced at some point, Alex! Don't be ashamed. A good rule of thumb is to allow a gap under the strap so that it's not too tight to fit one finger underneath. That seems to be pretty comfy! 😁👌 Nice one - Marty certainly made this watch all the more appealing! I'm a big fan of the trilogy too 🤩
