I have an astra K. The only things I agree with are the window switches being too far back which is annoying. Besides that I have zero buzzes and rattles, the cabin is good quality and the drive is refined. The supposed judder when shifting up I can only put down to poor technique, you should always try to rev match whatever car you happen to be driving. Also, CD players are an option in most cars nowadays, why bother with one when you can connect your phone or plug in a USB stick that has your entire music collection on it?
If a car clunks while shifting gears its because you cant shift. You are supposed to give to some gas when upshifting. I only agree with part about the window switches.
the astra has the same quirk as the polo 1.4 tsi i have at work - a combination of engine and bad habits cause the shudders. Entirely possible to get rid of them with some practice and tbh, its no the engine or gearbox fault its 100% the driver.
Turning off TC can help with shudders but it's mostly driver error caused by not giving it some gas which causes the RPM to drop and causing a jerk when shifting.
Points to the mobile phone holder on the dash and says he's no idea what it's for ....... then rants for 5 minutes that there's nowhere to put a mobile phone in the car. #Fail
It is too short and too shallow to hold a phone. Sadly... Or not, cause why would you need it out anyway? Better to keep it in your pocket, use Bluetooth and stay safe!
That thing is a fail if you don't order a power flex bar for the car. At least, if you have a bigger phone, like an Xperia Z3. The phone is actually about half centimeter longer, than the slot in the phone holder :D Those very sticky anti-slip mats can hold the phone in it, but come on! :D
Wow. It’s almost as if you’ve got into the Astra with preconceived ideas about how bad Vauxhall’s are. Looking at the amount of thumbs down it would appear most people disagree with you, as do most other reviewers of the Astra K. Vauxhall have moved on significantly over the last few years, way too many badge snobs out there dismiss it because it’s a Vauxhall.
I have had an identical other then being new astra K for several months. Hadn't noticed a problem with the window switches being too far back - maybe I just have short arms?. Besides that I have zero buzzes and rattles, the cabin is good quality and the drive is refined. Can't comment too much on the gear change as mine's an automatic, but in my 45 yr experience judder when shifting upis either poor quality fuel or poor technique, you should always try to rev match whatever car you happen to be driving. Also, CD players are an option in most cars nowadays, why bother with one when you can connect your phone or plug in a USB stick
I have Astra k 1.6 and I have to disagree with most of the things you said. I payed extra for ergonomic seats ant they are g8, but window button is pain it the ass. I don't have any rattles or unusual sounds, gearshift is smooth. my gf has golf mk7 diesel, and I like my astra way more. Last week I had 500km round trip on open road (speed between 60-100 km/h) and fuel economy was 6,4 L/100 km
The Gap thing is designed to be removed to install the Power bar that is aftermarket add-on unless it was fitted. I bought one for £120 from Vauxhall and it adds phone charging or airfreshner option. Least that turbo comes with lane assist which the Elite I have doesnt
I had previously driven Vauxhall’s and didn’t really like them at all, but I recently bought an Astra in the same spec as this and it is brilliant. An Elite spec would’ve been better but I got a great deal on the SRI and I didn’t want to travel too far to get an Elite when there was an SRI 5 mins from my house. You clearly have a problem with Vauxhall’s and are making things up like the rattles and vibrations
I agree with the position with the window buttons, too far back. The issue with the head jerking, just dont drive the car hard...Its an SRI, it has harder suspension to reduce roll etc i expect. my previous Astra was not an SRI and had comfier suspension
My friend has one of these in elite trim I used to love it but in beginning to really question the build quality it's only 2 years old and the rattles and sqeaks are unbelievable particularly from the dashboard and the roofline right at the back
Not having a CD player 😂 I think that shows you are clutching at straws. You are clearly just bouncing your head forward when changing gear. Either that or you don't know how to change gear properly. There is nothing wrong with the transmission on this model. Phone goes inside the arm rest, where it can be connected to the USB port for apple car play. The indicators are just indicators. The breaks are very sharp. I agree the window controls are not positionied well but a small price to pay for a hot hatch with great performance and a very modest price.
Most of these things are non issue and totally made up just to spite of it. There is no CD player, because you're supposed to use blu ray (or usb) and connect your phone into the car. You can get CD player as you order the car, costs bit extra and its in the glove compartment. If you get jerking moment when you change gear, you're doing it wrong and brakes are just fine in the car. Only real fact is that when you do drive rough road or bumps, you do feel those, but you arent affected by them. You dont twitch or move, you just hear them and feel slight vibration under you.
I have owned BMW, Audi, Toyota, Skoda, Seat and a Vauxhall Astra, this reviewer makes complaints about such minor issues most of which don't exist, you can't hear the gear crunch or the interior noises, there is something loose in the boot, like that's a fault with the car, jerky gear change, that's actually the jerk driving it. The Astra is my wife's car and it drives really well, I get his point the window switches are a little far back, but seriously moving the chair back is ridiculous. The stalks do feel a little lightweight, but to say they are waggling around is just not true.
I think you may be comparing this car to high end car you are driving a basic car and looking for premium comfort and performance if you want that stick 10 grand on the price and you will get climate control as the car you are driving doesn't have it and you may even get a shorter gear stick as for the window controls I think it depends on your seat position as I feel my insignia buttons sit to far back on the door. Doing a review on 5 things you hate about a car without following it up with 5 things that you like about the car is not a fair review the new astra has some good features and a good reviewer would be as quick to point out the pros as he is the cons. Disregarding a car because of just your own personal views is not any good to anybody if you enjoy doing your reviews which you obviously do then why not just do it right.
I have dual zone climate control in my 2015 focus titanium along with some other nice toys, upgraded the tyres for a nicer ride and installed some sound deadening in the car total cost £325..now it’s just as good a ride as the so called premium cars costing thousands more
That gape is wireless charging One this I hate about you is that professional car reviewers say that the quality is really good if your thinking about buying this car go somewhere else like CarWow they have a good review
Worst review I have seen on this car, I have a Mk7 17 plate and the only thing that you didn't pick up on was the lack of under floor storage in the boot.
Mate I got an Astra K 2016 Elite, full leather, heated seats back and front and hundreds more options. Don’t moan about the flimsy seats when you haven’t even looked at the fully loaded version.
I have astra k 2017 Annoying things: 1/ Top vents that blows on quarterlight glass on drivers side blows on face ..no way stopping it 2/Heating controls way too complicated 3/ On a cold morning soon as you get in windscreen steams up in seconds. 4/ NO thigh support on drivers seat very much leg pain long journeys. 5/ Electric lumbar adjustment pathetic
Sorry I just think you can't drive manual,go automatic..you might find it more suitable for you...btw way you change gear is wrong way of lifting up the clutch...
The new astra k was the best astra they ever made, from the design to the comfort to the engine, for a family hatchback they smashed it, the 1.4t petrol at 150 bhp plus take weight off the car makes it so much nippier than my astra j, personally this is the stupidest review ive heard. If hes jerking while shifting its because hes shit at rev matching
Thanks for the good review mate. I was searching for a car and Astra was on my list. I disliked your video before I tried Astra 135 Dynamic. Driving the Astra I noticed all the things you lised including bad gearshift. I give you my like and thanks for the warnings, it really helped me. Cheers and keep the good work.

i had the judder, all i did was improve my gear changes and just release slower. great car

When you upshift, rpm's drop in next gear anyway, so no need to give it gas. You probably meant for downshifting.
No
@GrimReaper of course the rpms drop AFTER, but the shudder has to do with where the rpms are at the time of the gear change.

It's a fuse cover. They've made a pretty lazy attempt to make the space useful. It just about fits an iPhone 6.
Things I hate about this review....1-5 ...1. Reviewer 2. Reviewer 3.Reviewer 4.Reviewer 5.Reviewer
Not just me who thinks he's a belter then 😂
A CD player?? Fuck sake ,get a grip.

buzypea2 he thinks he should be on top gear. Lol.
The worst car review..probably ever.
...definitely ever!
I agree with you
If you had got the elite model you would have changed a few of your views
I have an Elite Mk7 now downgrading the on reg plate to 65 from 16 but it much better than the 1.4 Design I had prior
I have had an identical other then being new astra K for several months. Hadn't noticed a problem with the window switches being too far back - maybe I just have short arms?. I agree with almost everything after owning car 1 year except gear changing, my 100kw cdti goes well.
I have Astra k 1.6 and I have to disagree with most of the things you said. I payed extra for ergonomic seats ant they are g8, but window button is pain it the ass. u will probably struggle to find a cd player in most new cars.

sorry the only jerk in the gear is the one behind the wheel
I agree with the position with the window buttons, too far back. The issue with the head jerking, just dont drive the car hard...Its an SRI, it has harder suspension to reduce roll etc i expect. my previous Astra was not an SRI and had comfier suspension
I have a Astra K its down to budget, what can you afford. My pet hate is the door mirrors Dont fold in and with parking folding mirrors is a must.
My friend has one of these in elite trim I used to love it but in beginning to really question the build quality it's only 2 years old and the rattles and sqeaks are unbelievable particularly from the dashboard and the roofline right at the back
Try driving a better spec car I have the elite and I don't any of the stuff you sed
I've tested the car and the only thing I noticed is the window switch position problem.
I don't agree with any of the other points.

I've had my elite nav for a year now. I only agree with the window switches. I haven't experienced any of your other issues. Maybe you had a rough car
Depends on how tall you are!
Have you ever driven another car?
This is not a serious video.. only a complexive person would find all these these things that he said... petty person that guy
Guys i have a question how would you arrange model versions from highest to lowest?! And which model would you choose for the money?!
1:30 Jesus, how wide was that left turn? Along with the gear changing, starting to question your driving if you're going to review this car.
Worst review I have seen on this car, I have a Mk7 17 plate and the only thing that you didn't pick up on was the lack of under floor storage in the boot.

what the name of the song and the artist thanx...the opening song
The only jerk is the driver.
This is my video on 5 things i love about the astra k ruclips.net/video/Mffcln_UVPQ/видео.html
I have astra k 2017
Annoying things:
1/ Top vents that blows on quarterlight glass on drivers side blows on face ..no way stopping it
2/Heating controls way too complicated
3/ On a cold morning soon as you get in windscreen steams up in seconds.
4/ NO thigh support on drivers seat very much leg pain long journeys.
5/ Electric lumbar adjustment pathetic
Do an Astra H and J?
Maybe you just don t knot how to change gears? Common, I have this car and I don't have the same problems as you...
i have one and I think the boot is not big enough
Most Bell Ends I know drive Audis or BMW's, now I don't know you but perhaps you should have stuck to your 1 series BMW
Sorry I just think you can't drive manual,go automatic..you might find it more suitable for you...btw way you change gear is wrong way of lifting up the clutch...
My elite is beautiful inside
The window switch is far yes
What a load of shit, the new Astra is an amazing/comfortably and refined hatchback
Everything you said it’s true
I have the mk7 astra k . The only thing I can agree with is the window switch. Everything else you said is nonsense.
this is a very negative poor review because the mrk 7 astra is a good car for the money🤔😔
What does the k mean
It's just a model number. The previous generation was the Astra J.
He don’t no who to drive 🤣🤣🤣
This fellow should not be making a reveiw about this car, he has not got a clue what he is talking about!
The new astra k was the best astra they ever made, from the design to the comfort to the engine, for a family hatchback they smashed it, the 1.4t petrol at 150 bhp plus take weight off the car makes it so much nippier than my astra j, personally this is the stupidest review ive heard. Why buy the car then?
#3 go back to an auto you can't seem to drive a manual. I have an Astra no problem here
This is one bad review if you don't like it why you driving it I have one I agree with the window
The Astra IS A cheap car... what do you expect?!!
Ha ha ha! What a pathetic list. You're certainly no Richard Hammond. You checked the brake pads and discs? How did you do that? Bullshit.
You are so used to the BMW - :-)
My most hated car ever fu....g Zafira A 2003-2004 and others too..OPEL engineers 2000-2015 is totally bullshit !
Sorry mate your talking crap
Thanks for the good review mate. I was searching for a car and Astra was on my list. I disliked your video before I tried Astra 135 Dynamic.
