He chooses each note carefully and tastefully and let's each note speak for themselves. Aside from the fact that he is a brilliant guitar player, this makes his songwriting one of the best in my opinion.

But thanx Mark, actually saw him play this live at Christchurch a few years ago now. My youngest son shouted me the ticket as I think he knew this was the closing track. I’m a Sunderland supporter. This is the tune out great rivals Newcastle United come out onto the pitch to. However, this song is special to me, a great friend of mine I served in the army with who was killed in Afghanistan was an avid Newcastle supporter. Every time I hear it I automatically think of him. This is my favourite instrumental piece in the whole world! And it could only have been composed by Knopfler, and I would say, he's at his emotional best here! That 58' Les Paul sounds fantastic here.
