Your family and friends and fans have every reason to be proud of you working hard to accomplish your dreams!!! Never forget what that last stop and those last casts at your James River tournament meant to your results...always fish hard start to finish...look forward to seeing you fish the Classic !!!
Thoroughly enjoyed this video, Kyle. Great stuff! If you ever decided to do giveaways, these rods would be hot items, sorta like a tennis player giving his racquets to fan, something people would love as a keepsake.
Have you had a brush start coming apart on you yet? The way you are applying the wrapping epoxy you will most likely pull the hairs out of the brush. Other than that you are really producing product so way to go. You can get a cleaner cut in the thread if you hold more tension on it, it will pull the cut end under the overwraps. At this point you probably have built a hundred rods or more and you are perfecting it. Those Point Blank blanks are really good for bass casting rods. Good luck and keep up the work.
Dude I love this Channel, and Im sure I watched you gamble on tv professionally. Im stoked you are a Pro Bass Fisherman. Just a really cool well done channel, thanks a million.
I'll give you some old man advice if you will take it. Use whatever you feel like if the two Port liquid works best for you then use it. Have a good day and keep up the good work
I really wanted to buy a $200 rod just to see how good it was. I wrapped one for $150ish and its great. much rather wrap my own. there's a good spacing tool from acid rods.
Video is top notch keep up the good work who know one day you will have your own little shop right in the open area, build a 20ft shed & your in business ma boy...good luck
Great looking rods....great organization and well conceived...great idea to build a few spares !!! I have been watching your videos and I'm convinced that you have the passion and skills to accomplish your dreams!!! Wishing you tight lines and big bags!!!
Great job on building those rods! I am about to start building rods myself and I live in Alabama. Love to pull in some big spots on Lake Jordan and Martin. Hope my rods turn out as well as yours. I will be retiring from the military, but still pretty young so I want something to help keep me busy. Best of luck to you and hope you whoop some tail in the tournaments you fish. Keep charging forward and keep up the good work! Love the style of rods that you built also.
I can't wait to cheer you on this new adventure, hope one day you will have your on brand of custom rods to sell, you are ahead of the game my man by qualifying for the Elites, Scott Martin is fishing the opens like you were last year!
Great video! Hey Kyle what is a ballpark figure you have in each rod you built? Not counting the equipment to build just blank , cork , reel seat and guides!
The blank is around $180, the cork grips and reel seat is going to be around $20-30, the guides depending on which ones you use. But the most cost effective decent Fuji guides are the K guides in Alconites, you need about 11 guides+the Tiptop it will cost you around $30-40. If you go with Titanium guides it will cost you $90-100.
You ever try a Winn grip? I have a Winn split grip alps reel seat point blank mh 703 that I'm about to wrap this week . First point blank rod and first time using Winn grips
Also all the equipment you'll need as well, it's definitely pricey!
awesome video man ! i would like to get into this as well. could you tell me the blanks you used ? looking for something super light with awesome sensitivity. (comparable to NRX)
Hi Kyle, new subscriber here so I apologize if you already did this. In your information section you say that Point Blank is on of your favorite equipment to use. I have been considering getting into rod building and was wondering if you could do a video on why you chose Point Blank. I was looking at using the St Croix SCV modulus as I've been happy with their rods, but if there is something that stands out with Point Blank that makes them a better choice I would love to hear about it and the process you went through in choosing a manufacturer. Thanks for a great video.
Thanks for posting this. After building a dropshot rod on the Point Blank, can you give a recommendation? I'm looking at the PB701MLF and the PB691MLXF. Can either of these handle regular sized jerkbaits? I do more casting than vertical dropshotting. Thanks!
How are the actions on the rods. Looking for something that is stout backbone but softer tip for A Rigs and 4.8 and 5.8 keitechs using 1/2 and 3/4 oz swimbait jig heads. Any recommendations?
Appreciate all of the videos Kyle. I was wondering if you could tell me exactly which reel seats, handles and caps you are using? I am actually going to build some rods myself and I notice how you build everything extra light so I'm having a difficult time figuring out exactly which Reel Seats are they lightest and I was hoping you could enlighten me. Thanks in advance.
I use the Fuji SK2 reel seat but I get the metal good instead of graphite. Metal hood is about a tenth of an ounce lighter. The cork I am using goes with the SK2 reel seat and it's the smallest one for it
Hey Kyle, I just found your channel and glad I did. If you can let me know where you get your blanks and materials. I’m retired now and wanna build myself a couple of rods to start out and I’ve been looking at NorthForkComposites out of Washington State and owned by Gary Loomis. I really would appreciate any direction you could give me on materials. Best of Success this 2020 Season 🍀🎣🔨💯
I'm using Fuji components and point blank rod blanks. Northforks are great and I have a few but point blanks are the way to go if you want a faster and lighter rod. Northfork trends more moderate
Love the info and the step by step , some rod companies are making longer than I like butts any recommendation for cutting the blank to shorten the butt length, high speed dremel ?

The lighter the rod the more sensitive it's gonna be. The energy travels through the blank better. Great info.
No doubt
Thanks for sharing that. I learned a few things. I just started building rods for myself also. Best wishes for your tournaments.
That’s so legit man. I wish I had the time and money to learn how to build rods myself

Hey man what brand blanks do you use? I fish with the Highschool bass nation and I am Thinking about getting into rod building.
Did u finally get rid of all your old Ducketts are sell them off but awesome very informative video
What blanks are you using to build your rods, I might have missed that and if anyone else caught that feel free to chime in.
Point blanks and Fuji rod components
What guides do you use
Where do you get the rod

Is an SK2 blank related to a K2 blank? What would you compare these 7’3 rods you made to in the production industry
There is no comparison between my rods and any brand. Maybe they are close to am NRX but they are lighter. The SK2 is the split grip reel seat
Built or assembled? I'm looking to build one from scratch.
Great video! What was the brand of blank and where do I order these to get started? Thanks for the help!
How much would u charge for something like one of those cork ones?
Love building my own rods....i keep mine stupid simple as well!! Let us know how the hold up!!
Sick!

Could you build a fiberglass blank catfish rod in a video that would be super cool if you catfish
Your rods look awesome by the way
Those rods are awesome are you using micro or standard line guide's
I'm using #4 guides on flouro rods and #5 on braid rods. #4s are micros
Do you think later on you might build and sell rods
@@georgebramblett6078 I might build some if there is a demand. Definitely not looking to start a business
Is that hook keeper not facing the wrong way?
