Brilliant video ! I’ve taken it for years in the summer and noticed such a difference to my skin . I do use the heliocare spf 90. Another ingredient that’s had lots of research for skin protection is Lycopene . Many studies on its benefits for the skin and protection to UV . Big study was taking two dessert spoons of a good tomato paste (high in lycopene ) and a drizzle of olive oil daily . The lycopene protected the skin that was subjected to a dose of UV .

It took me so long to become convinced that the heliocare supplement was a good thing, but now I'm sold! Going to have to do some reading on lycopene today, although it sounds like a good ingredient for skin as well. I wish more of the beauty supplement companies focused on actual beneficial ingredients instead of the normal biotin and collagen boredom....

I was VERY skeptical (I mean really, really, really skeptical of this). I first heard about it about 5-6 years ago and it took until 2018 to finally read more and test it. It took another 2 years before I would actually recommend this to anyone. Now I'm finally sold that this can be a good addition to sunscreen and am now recommending it to people. I was pretty nervous that people would rely on this instead of sunscreen, so I'm hoping that is not what will happen. But on days you are going to be outside in the sun (and even on a daily basis) this is a great product- even better if you check into one of the generic and much more affordable versions.

Hi Sarah it's worth noting that people should discuss any supplement with their healthcare provider, as many interact with prescription medications. Your local pharmacist can also help with this. I take a multivitamin to offset any deficiencies in my diet, as I don't always make the healthiest choices. I do eat a fairly balanced diet, but I like the occasional treat tbh. I have rosacea and eczema, plus severely dry skin - so I take some EFA's (after discussing with my Doctor). I have fairly severe osteoarthritis and take a joint supplement (again discussed with my Doctor). The other faddy stuff I ignore. I might have a look at this ingredient for the Summer though. Best wishes.

Ooh, very good point- you know, I'm going to add that to the top of my description for the video- VERY good point- so many supplements can affect other prescriptions or even medical tests (biotin for example can give false negatives for many tests, including covid) so thank you for reminding me of this!

@@NOBSBeauty I just noticed that lovely skin has it on sale for 25% off for Fourth of July ending tonight! Do you take them both in the morning or one in the a.m. and one at night? I didn’t find any directions in the online listings. Would you say that if someone is primarily indoors and out of the sunlight, they can still benefit from it? Dr. Dray reviewed it. The advanced version has Niacin (nicotinamide). I’m not sure if that particular ingredient is what is causing people some issues, but I read numerous reviews of people with rashes (The main thing I’m worried about because I developed the same from mineral sunscreens and my skin can get itchy), stomach issues (a side effect of nicotinamide which is only in the advance), and one person claimed the niacin was 2500% (?!) higher than recommended (which I did not find to be true), but said they developed sky high blood pressure and two brain bleeds that landed them in the hospital. (again, I think this is due to the niacin so, not a potential concern unless you take the advanced.) Guessimg I should just stick with the non-advanced one with just the one ingredient that Heliocare is known for. There’s a generic on Amazon for half the price. I think the generic is $20 for two months versus the brand is almost $40 for two months although it’s currently 25% off for the Fourth of July still on lovely skin!

From what I've read it sounds like it is most beneficial when you take it shortly before (about 30 minutes) sun exposure. Certainly nothing wrong with taking it year round, but the benefits are mostly when you are exposed to uv light. I personally take it in days when it's sunny outside. I don't take it every day but I do take it most days in the summer and really sunny days in the winter. Sounds like you have some good supplements going right now and this might be a good addition to those.
