Akshaya Patra is a really good organisation. I live outside of India and hence cannot personally serve the needy in my country. My husband and I contribute to Akshay Patra every year on my father's death anniversary, for 6 kids' meal for a year. It makes us feel good. You can do it as a memorial, and you can even select the region you want to contribute to. God bless them.

You will not find that man much agitated even on his worst day. He/organization is a follower of Guru Srila Prabhupada famously known in the west for Hare Krishna (ISKCON) movement. It follows Bhaktivedanta philosophy meaning understanding consciousness through service. The reason that person will not be angry because he does not see that he is doing a great service by providing the meal to kids. He is seeing it as that he is put in charge of this to serve, so that he can understand the god/consciousness better. It is his opportunity to learn more by serving god in the form of kids, so he is eternally happy being there and for the opportunity , which is evident.
you could have just written that they are the 'hare rama hare krishna' people and that would have been much more easier for the foreigners to get that. More foreigners know of Prabhupada swami than indians do. ISKCON is basically an org preaching hinduism in the west.
Eating with hands is a basic instinct for any humans. It actually connects your nerve ending and senses from the skin to understand what food is good for you or not. This is basically integrated in Indian culture. Also the VP from isckon is a monk so it's natural to see them radiating with smile and bliss

I had Iskon food for 13 years of my life. The temple provided breakfast and lunch to the schools and I've been having the food since a child. The food is very nutritious. I still remember the van entering the school early in the morning and before noon to provide breakfast and lunch. They were never late. ❤️
Those dosas is called davanagere benne dose (davanagere butter dosa) which is a specialty in a the city called davanagere, Karnataka in South India. Many hotels and restaurants serve it in other cities too, but best tasted in davanagere itself.

There is another video one hour long from national Geographic channel.. It gives you how the whole cooking process is from start to finish. Generally we consider the food to be prasad and told not to waste... That's why encouraged to take only so much that you can eat.
They do Intermediate fasting as a part of Hindu ritual called Ekadashi. Ekadashi is the 11 th day of Hindu calender appears twice a month. This day is dedicated for fasting (mostly from grains).

Akshay Patra means a plate that never gets over. It was given by Sun God to Yudhishthir in Mahabharat. A plate in which the food will never get over.
