I feel for you. Every man has to decide which way they want to handle a situation. And I think I recall of video where they even came and took your light switches, so hey, if it don't fit don't force it. There are battles worth the fight, and some not. IF, and that's a big IF, you're able to exit and the lose is bearable then do what feels right. And be some place you're celebrated not tolerated. The whole point of a US exit, for many people, is to put a stop to "being tolerated."
I'm selling 2 properties now, and for YEARS I felt it was a way to build wealth. Now they feel like a weight on my back. From here on out, it's yachts I can live on. This way I can MOVE my whole "house" when I don't like the immediate circumstances. But on land, I'll be a renter, until/unless some VERY specific situation comes up and I'm INVITED into a community. All the best.

@@LIFEOFUNCJAE Yeah, man. You get to a point when you start looking at the big clock in the sky, and you're like "nah, this ain't it. I got X amount of time, and this is not where or how I'm spending it." I'll take a little loss, I'm out.

Some administrators go on little power trips. I am Colombian American and have an apartment in Cali. Not allowed to put AC in it. I did not put it up first, I asked first, since I know how these things are, and he said NO. I am renting my apartment on Airbnb (30 days or more rentals) which I have a right to. You can do so as long as it's 30 days or more in Colombia even if the building does not agree. He was starting to bother me about that, so had to get a lawyer to draft up a letter for me and he backed down after he got the lawyer letter. I don't know if your administrator has a personal vendetta against you, sometimes they just go on these little power trips to make themselves feel important. Don't let one guy ruin it for you.

But when he went to the other guy, a Colombian, he didn’t feel the need to cooperate and challenged his call. That led to a proper judgement by the “board” and nothing happening. In my humble opinion, I wouldn’t let an apartment manager (who probably can’t afford to live there his self) make you not feel wanted in your own home. Especially because of the space, security and neighborhood you have in the end, he works for you. The HOA should pay for you to get your ceiling back up and reprimand him. To him, it’s just a job but to you, it’s your home.
