Ukraine is bound by an October 2022 presidential decree banning peace negotiation with Russia while Putin is in power. Zelensky can't cancel it now because Ukraine has no legal president until elections are held. So they dance around pretend "peace deals" and "peace summits" because they can't legally engage in a real peace negotiation.

Zelensky has not yet understood Russia's intentions, nor its primary objective, which is not primarily concerned with the conquest of territories and their absorption into Russian territory. The primary objective is demilitarization, which, in simple terms, means eliminating all military factions to achieve unconditional surrender. The second is the liberation from Ukrainian troops of the territories that have requested secession from Ukraine due to the inhumane policies they suffered in recent years. Once liberated, they will be rebuilt and returned to their inhabitants, but protected for the future by Russia.
Zelensky understands it full well, but there's no money in it.

If Ukraine surrenders, West loses $350 billion in financing the war, Zelensky is kicked out, Russia takes over all the natural resources and makes ukraine pay reparations for the war cost. If Russia signs any agreement, they will be in DEBT for 50+ years like world war 2 Germany who made the last payment in 2010 for World War 2!

Secondly, atomic bombs generate fallout which is at the mercy of the winds. Fallout can reach even Russia or NATO countries. You use nukes but only as last resort, if your sovereignty is threatened. If Putin would've been Quick on his temper the world would be no more.

Just a small correction for Dima. It is not called a cauldron, but an Operative Cauldron. Which is a slightly different thing, with a normal cauldron it's a full encirclement of the army, with an operative one, it is half encircled, and all of the exit routs are 100 % covered by the artillery (drones in our day and age). So escaping it becomes practically impossible... so it's an effective cauldron but not a real one.
