Do you all not understand how Craviotto works? The equivalent to Craviotto is a person walking to a Rolls Royce dealership. That person knows exactly what they want, and they want a Rolls Royce. At this level, you are paying for everything that is associated with building this kit. You don't need to own one, I know many drummers that are just fine with their Stage Customs, their MCXs, their Saturns, their Classic Maples. If you're bellyaching about the price of this kit or equivalent high end drum kits (PHX, Star) then these kits are not for you. Great sounding drums, especially that bass drum! Great video. Thank you!
@@scottlowell493 dont forget build quality, or craftsmanship, or where their wood comes from. the stage custom is birch. but so is a recording custom... huuuge price difference.
Instead of talking about who's great and who is not, these videos are intended to shed lite on these incredible instruments that people like Nick are demoing for our pleasure. ( by the way Sweetwater does a fantastic job explaining the gear there demoing and the sound quality is off the charts). In the future may we all keep are comments to in this case the drum set. The quality, the sound, and the features. That's the views that matter , doesn't it???
I don't necessarily disagree David but keep in mind that the world is full of people. You will always have Yin and Yang. They are not in conflict with one another. Everything has its purpose. Some comments seem bitter, while others seem sweet. Life is full of flavors, colors, textures...just go with the flow dude. Enjoy the drums and let the rest go. Peace.
Fabulous drums and good video....you played just the drums...and played them very well. That snare!! Wow....all the drums...just wow. Thought it was appropriate you did like a Steely Dan jam at the end....because you really need to be on that level to have these drums. Lol. Not a common man's kit. But hey....ya never know. Best kit I've seen you demo right here.
as someone whos played 100s of kits and all sorts of craviotto kits. I dont think you can haha. Solidshell drums are some of the most forgiving tuning wise
That's by far the best sounding drums I have ever heard! Round but punchy , accurate and focused, studio and travel friendly, stunningly looking, vintage and yet modern! I don't mind the price... I ll gather the money !
Nick ..I dig your playing style. I hear some New Orleans 2nd line in there . Drums are beautiful sounding and looking . Top notch craftsmanship. Wish my pockets were deeper . Love the inlays and diamond tube hardware. Classy not Clunky .
There are so many variations that can be made into an SQ2 kit it would barely scratch the surface of how these kits could look and sound. I also don't think Sweetwater can sell that many SQ2 kits.
Great demo and beautiful kit! I've really been wanting to get back into drumming (I started off life as a drummer.) Would love if this kit had a second floor tom.
Great look and sound. I imagine this 4 piece is at least $4,000. Craviotto stuff is not cheap, but its super high quality. Just looked at the price. I was way off. $6,550.
These are great high tune jazz drums. Beautiful. I want. Really bad I just don’t play enough pure jazz gigs to justify. I’ve noticed a few Nashville guys playing Craviotta in bigger sizes. For rock I’d get a big old maple or vista lite Ludwig or possibly SJC. For pop alternative etc C and C make a great kit. Tamas star drums are crazy good. I’m partial to the Brooklyn Gretch or USA custom. It’s a great time to be a pro drummer. I will say this. I hire out play a lot of Church gigs inside. Cage basically. I’ve seen expensive drums sound like crap and cheap drums sound great. Tuning, heads and especially how they are mic’d up is all the difference.
I prefer the superkicks to pillows etc, because it cuts down on the sustain of the head whilst keeping resonance on the shell, works really nice on high quality kits like this one
I agree. My vintage Ludwig super classics sound as good to my ears. Remo coated emperor batter, coated ambassador resonant, with LM402 Supraphonic snare. Got the kit from a church for $1700 minus the snare and new heads.
Honestly, with all the separate miking and procession (gate, compressor, equipment etc.) it seems not to make much difference wether but is a beginner set with good skins on or something so expensive like that kit.
I guessed 5 grand before I clicked the link. 6.5 grand. LOL. I've seen these kits on other drums sites and they were wanting 8 to 9k for a 5 piece kit. They are quite amazing and sound tops, but this is one of those kits that maybe, maybe i'd buy in my lifetime and a kit I'd take to those special gigs.
guys using craviotto are either on big studio sessions or on big stages playing for big artists where their drums get loaded into snug roadcases and all set up and ready to go for you when you get to the gig.
As always just so nice to sit here and listen to you play. Although I have to admit, IMHO, the drums were a little quite in the mix; would have liked a half a tic more volume. But I am a bass player and enjoy hearing these great sounding and looking drums. Thank You.

I think it's because the bass drum reso head has no port hole. 2 very different sounds, With or without a port hole. For me, I like the bass drum with a port hole.

Why are solid shell drums so rare and expensive, while solid wood is standard in the world of guitars and other stringed instruments and an all-solid guitar can be had for not much money (well, about £1,000 or less)? No serious guitarist would be seen dead with a ply acoustic guitar (although ES-335s are 3-ply), but even Tama Star drums are plywood and top professional drummers play them all the time.

Gretschnut LOL on the RIMS mount. Remember Gretsch in the late ‘80s coupled RIMS with those enormous tom arms? You could barely see the shells! DW did it too. They sounded great but looked terrible. Cheers!
Mike Davis - What? Gretsch did something that wasn't aesthetically pleasing? Yeah Mike, I remember and you're right, they were awful. Thank goodness they've come up with better solutions, Craviotto, not so much.
Gretschnut Indeed. I guess I should've put Sonor in the "Huge Hardware" category as well with some of their over-designed stuff of the last 30 years. Haha!

Obviously well made and top quality, but on stage behind electric guitars and controlled by sound engineers, most of the audience couldn’t tell the difference between these and cheaper drums. They look at the drummer’s ability. Still, great sounding, but not affordable to most.
No. A solid shell is made from hollowing out a single solid piece of wood, as opposed to a single piece of ply bent into shape like this. Sweet drums though
I’ve never liked Craviotto’s diamond theme, personally. And you’re right - they’re insanely expensive. One thing’s for sure: Those are going to hold their value, unlike so many of the similarly priced one-off custom sets from guys like SJC, Truth, and others. Whatever works for the drummer, I guess. Cheers!
Mike Davis you are absolutely right. My point was that, beside being able to afford this drum set then fine. As struggling drummer like most of drummers around the globe, I am more about the value of the drum manufacturer can provide for us with a superb quality drumset without the highest price. From my experience, I would gladly own a Tama Starclassic drumset again. I know that is biased opinion, but at least it's based from my previous great experience. I hope that I have explained myself for my comment Mike, especially to those ones they were quick to judge about my opinion. Thanks for sharing your opinion.
Omer Idrizi Couldn't agree more, Omer. I prefer Pearl myself. For that kind of $$, you could have a lot more gear that sounds great and will last from just about any other big company. I guess what I was really trying to say is that, if I were going to buy custom drums, which I wouldn't ever do, I'd consider these. But there's much better value to be had out there, that's for sure.
